Learn about the city's melting-pot culinary culture
Explore less-visited Mumbai neighborhoods with a local guide
What to expect
After meeting your guide and small group at Churchgate railway station, you’ll head out on your culinary adventure. Head first to Chowpatty Beach, where you’ll munch on classic local snacks like bhel puri (puffed rice in a tangy tamarind sauce) and pav bhaji (a spicy, mashed vegetable mix). You’ll escape the tourist track and see under-the-radar sights along the way, from the bustling back alleys of Minara Masjid to the Muslim enclave of Bhendi Bazaar. Taste the kebabs sizzling on streetside grills and meet the beloved vendors who specialize in serving up traditional dishes. Your last stop will be a century-old sweet shop, where you’ll get a chance to satisfy your sweet tooth with hand-churned ice cream and the syrupy, deep-fried drizzles of flour known as jalebi.

Delicious Food Tour
Mar 2020
I went on this tour as part of a 4 day trip to Mumbai. It was a great way to get a sampling of the wonderful food the city has to offer and see a few different areas of the city. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys food and is looking for something fun to do in the city.

Good sampling of Mumbai's street food
Feb 2020
This was a great way to sample a bunch of different street food in Mumbai, without having to worry about stomach issues as a foreigner. Had to navigate some very crowded streets and pack an unusual amount of people into a cab at one point, but overall it was a fun and delicious experience.

Sunday evening in Mumbai
Feb 2020
I would not have done a food tour on my own, with Reality Tours it was easy and safe. Very interesting, our guide Tevuj ( Not sure on spelling) was informative, looked after the four of us very well. Got to sample delicious foods. I like the concept of this tour group organisation which runs other tours in Mumbai as well.

unbelievable experience
Feb 2020
What a way to see Mumbai, we absolutely could not have done this on our own, you must take this tour. A fascinating tour of 3 different street food markets. We started the journey by train, and were met at the station by Raj our guide who was brilliant. We tasted things we would not have done ourselves and negotiated the busiest and noisiest streets we have ever seen. Raj organised us a taxi and fixed the price with the driver before we set off to go back to the ship, which was a great help as many other people on the ship, ourselves included, had paid over the odds during the day.
We cannot recommend this tour highly enough, just be prepared for how busy Mumbai really is.

Fascinating side of Mumbai
Feb 2020
My wife and I both found this tour unusual, astonishing and highly informative. Shailesh was our excellent guide -- clear, articulate and knowledgeable. We would have had a difficult time finding our way through the narrow passageways without his expert guidance or even known about this side of Mumbai life. Thank you for this rare look behind the scenes. There were four in our group not counting Shailesh. That seemed like a good number, given the tight clearances of these alleyways. Phillip

What an experience
My wife and I went on this tour on the evening of Republic Day with seven others and three guides, Tovrej, Shailesh and Pradeep. Shailish and Pradeep herded from the back while Tovrej led us from Churchgate by train to Chowpatty Beach, and to many vegetarian food stops there. A ten minute walk to the hospital for cabs (not care), and on to the Muslim quarter and non vegetarian foods. Numerous stops here ended with a five minute walk to Taj Ice Cream, a family business since 1887.
Overall we probably samples nearly twenty foods, with the last stop at a shop making jalebi - the Indian National sweet. As the tour ended Tovrej negotiated a taxi to take us and another couple back to the Green gate port entrance.
Thank you Tovrej, Shailesh and Pradeep for a truly memorable experience, tasty food, safe travels, and unforgetable memories as we contended with the massive Republic Day crowds.
