- Relax614404658440 contributionsWhat a great introduction to ChennaiWhat a great tour. Kannan was a super guide giving us excellent depth of information on the sights we visited. He took us into the temples and monuments to give us a real feeling of how the devotees enjoy their time there. Smashing coconuts was very much fun. 100% recommend Kannan and the team who looked after us from airport pickup, fab tour and dropped us at our accommodation. They even helped us change our hotel to find a better location.Written 25 November 2024
- Jsalvesa0 contributionsBrilliant experienceThe tour was absolutely amazing. Such an experience to see different religions coexisting and thriving in the same area of Chennai. - 389hattiea0 contributionsGreat tour- highly recommendThe tour was wonderful and very informative. Kannan was a brilliant tour guide and we learnt a lot from him. The highlight of the tour was the variety of sites visited, and a stop in a local tea shop!Written 23 November 2024
- 626arlenep0 contributionsHighly recommended tourWe just got back from a private tour of the Marina area. Our guide Hareesh was extremely knowledgeable and we learnt so much. The visit to the Parthasrthy Temple was the highlight of a very interesting morning. - 609priyac0 contributionsInterestingThis was an excellent tour. I have been to Chennai many times but never on a tour. I didn’t know what to expect but Satish was excellent - very informative and interesting. There was a lot to see and he covered everything so well.Written 10 November 2024
- spangledragon0 contributionsExcellent window into different religions and thinking. We had excellent communication from the company before the tour. On the day, we met Hareesh and spent the next three hours learning about (and experiencing) local architecture, history and religion. Hareesh was extremely knowledgeable and shared his own experiences with us, as well as helping us navigate the complex and fascinating temples. His English is great. I learnt about the relationship between Hindus and the planet Saturn, the role of the huge body of water next to the Kapaleeshwar Temple, that there are only three sites globally holding the remains of the apostles. Remember to wear comfortable shoes that are easy to slip on and off as you can't wear them in the temples, and make sure shoulders and knees are covered. It's also worth noting that photography isn't allowed inside any of the religious buildings. If you have the time, take a tuktuk to Mylapore. It was really worth it.Written 10 November 2024
- Marla W0 contributionsGreat tour of Marina BeachI met with my guide at their Ramakrishna Math center for a very interesting tour. Nivethitha is knowledgeable and set an agenda for the tour that was best for me and the day. We walked along Marin beach, tried some local food, and saw the lights and activities of the local scene. We ended with a tour of the monument for the Chief Minister. Nivethitha ensured I got a cab back to my hotel. The tour was perfect.Written 7 November 2024

He helped us find out more about Indian culture, was discrete and did not rush us at all! Highly recommended!Written 22 October 2024
- PAGB1st0 contributionsI perfect day in Chennai! This tour was a fantastic way to see Chennai. Kannan is very knowledgeable and taught me so much about the sites that we saw. Even though it is a walking tour, there is a driver to take you from place to place, walking takes place around the areas that you are visiting. I highly recommend this tour to see the sights in Chennai. I also did the Mysore Kingdom tour the day before this tour, it was a perfect combination to see inside and outside of Chennai. Wherever I travel, I will look to see if a 5 Senses Tours is available!Written 1 October 2024
- hhaman0 contributionsAwesome learning experienceI had a great time on this walking tour as Nivi provided me with in depth information about the temples we visited. Hey knowledge and her friendly demeanor helped make the tour a super enjoyable experience.Written 25 September 2024

I loved walking around the market place and the temples. Sathish, the tour guide, was very knowledgeable and kind and told interesting stories about the religions, buildings and origins of Chennai. Moreover, I really liked getting a taste of some local foods and drinks!

I had a private tour with my guide Satish, who was able to pick me up from my hotel and drop me off back there. Starting at the magnificent Fort St George, I was quickly immersed in the history of the East India Company and was able to view the houses of Clive of India as well as the Duke of Wellington. The Church of St Mary in the Fort complex is stunning. Walking a short distance from the Fort, we went past the beautiful Madras High Court (noting where it was attacked during WW1) and towards Parry’s Corner, learning about the mercantile history of this area. Our next stop led us to the spectacular Armenian Church, where I was able to spend time inside admiring the altar and marvelling at the architecture. We stopped for food at Murugan Idli which was probably the best idli and chutney combination I have ever had! Special sukku coffee (spicy ginger and jagree flavour) was then had and we explored local markets nearby. I thoroughly enjoyed this tour and recommend it anyone with either an interest in British colonial history or wanting a local culinary/architectural experience.

We are locals but wanted to explore the city's history with someone who has a good perspective on this. We were not disappointed. It was a morning well spent. Buildings and places which we would normally walk past have now come to life with the stories of history behind it.

What an incredible experience! We were fortunate to book the Georgetown walk on a free day and it tuned out to be a vetu enriching experience. Over 3 hours we walked through bazaars, colonial mansions, a museum, couple of churches including a quaint Armenian one. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable with a lovely sense of humour. We learnt so much about the arrival of the British in India and how the East India Company was so successful. We learnt about the evolution of the modern city of Chennai as well. Each landmark during the walk had an interesting story. Our guide was kind enough tk treat us to local delicacies in the food street. The samosa snack with potato fillings and milk drink lassi were phenomenal. At the the end of the walk we knew so much more about Chennai and India and had a new perspective ro appreciate this ancient country and its people.

We took the morning walk with Sathish and he is full of information on Chennai, its history, temples and life in general in the city. We had a lovely breakfast break and Sathish catered to our requirements and questions resulting in a longer tour than planned. Overall a fantastic walking tour!

Very nice walk around the old parts of Chennai. Props for the guiding purchasing local delicacies for us (seems like that cost is build into the tour charge). Guide could do have a bit more info on some of the sites but absolutely worth it! Bring comfy shoes with you - you're in for a long evening walk!

Fantastic way to experience Chennai! Knowledgeable and attentive guide, range of sights (museum, historical buildings, market), and the snacks at the end were very nice. Road crossings were terrifying and pavement underfoot was bad in places but same as anywhere in the city. Would recommend this tour.

Satish, the guide, is kind, knowledgeable, and answers all the questions you might have. He's also proud of his country and city, so if he's asking you what is the first country that used rockets as weapons, it's probably India. He was very nice, he also got us a quick tour of the typical cousine.

Brilliantly paced tour with an interesting, knowledgeable and very friendly guide (Satish). It was the highlight of our stay in Chennai as we learnt loads about it's history, religion and residents, all while being kept well-fed and refreshed (included in the tour price). Although it lasted 3-4 hours, there were sufficient breaks and time to sit in the shade so it wasn't too tiring.

The tour was very well organised! Everything was on time and our guide Mr.Satish made it very engaging. It was quite eye opening to know and experience the history and the culture of one part of the city I’ve called home for about 15 years ! Will recommend it.
