About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Ami22650 contributionsBoring and unexcitingThe guide and driver were very nice and professional. However, there is hardly anything to see. The trip was boring and unexciting. The roads were dirty and congested with no real sight to see. However, that was no fault of the driver or the guideWritten 30 December 2024
- 701jirif0 contributionsBishnupur with a guide that explained IndiaExcellent tour with highly knowledgeable guide Mr.Ghosh and our skilled driver Saikat. Thank you!Written 3 December 2024
- 863debangshuc0 contributionsCouple of days in MurshidabadWe drove to Murshidabad from Kolkata via Mayapur ( a day well spent) with not much expectations ( Hazarduari is the only publicised landmark). We skipped Plassey landmark while going but regretted later because it became dark and raining next day when we were returning to Kolkata. For balance half day and full next day, our perception changed totally, and this happened due to the tourist guide (Riyasat Hossain, 97326367755). The city of Tombs and Mansions became alive with images of people associated with them with untold stories. Some of it was known history and some of them were unknown ( not to be found in Google). In half a day we could cover Jahan Kosha Cannon, Katra Masjid, Hazarduari Palace and Museum, Nashipur Rajbari, House of Jagat Seth. We had booked accommodation in Hotel Jalchhabi which is on the banks of river Bhagirathi. The hotel owns a boat and offer evening boating service for the hotel guests ( chargable). We were too tired to avail this and went for multi cuisine dinner instead, which was very good. Early up next day, we enjoyed the morning tea on the lawn by the side of river Bhagirati. Tanked up full with Breakfast, we covered Khoshbagh Garden, Roshnibagh Mousoleum, Shri Kiriteshwari Shaktipeeth Temple, Kathgola Bagan, Motijheel Park, Cossimbazar Palace of the Roys etc etc etc, before heading back for Kolkata by 5.00 PM. Offcourse, we spend couple of hours in between at Jiagang to buy local authentic Silk Saris, which Murshidabad is famous for. Lastly, a stop at Mother's Hut mid way for dinner was also a pleasant experience. We came back quite fulfilled..Written 1 November 2024
- hc220180 contributionsWonderful history in the City of JoyWow! There was a cyclone in Kolkata this day. Our Guide, Bratati conducted the walk anyhow. We only had this day in the city and I was keen to learn about the British history of the city. Despite the torrential rain Bratati was superb. She explained things so well and told many great stories about the history and the buildings. In the end the rain flooded the streets! So we had to abandon the tour for safety. But Bratati did so well to fit in lots of interesting information and she was so calm and resilient. Highly recommend this company and hope to return on a sunny day! Thank you Bratati 🙏😍Written 24 October 2024

It was a great experience to learn from our excellent guide Anirban, about the legacy of the great European powers. We saw magnificent monuments built by the Danish, Portugese and French . - alsk30 contributionsWorth the tripWe had an excellent day with Anirban. The temples were impressive and worth the trip. Lunch was good, and other stops for chai and sari weaving added variety. Anirban added context. Definitely a nice way to spend a day out of the city.Written 18 February 2024
- 223MarkG0 contributions5 Senses delivers another great tourThis was another great tour from 5 Senses. Anibal organised a fantastic day for us visiting former European colonies in towns and cities outside Kolkata. He picked us up from our hotel in Kolkata on time and in the car he was brimming with information about what we were going to see during the day. Anibal’s tour provided a fantastic insight into the history of the Portuguese, Danish and French in the area. He knew the best places to show us and also organised a delicious Bengali lunch. It was a real joy to spend the day in the company of Anibal. Thanks for another great trip, 5 Senses.Written 24 January 2024

- Compass078134844510 contributionsA long but good dayLong drive. Great driver and Anirpur was a great guide. Might not be worth 4 hours drive each way for some but interesting people scenery along the way. Roads not great much of the way. 5Senses was very professional, efficient, responsive.Written 29 December 2023

The various sites were all very interesting and Anirban added additional context and connections so we came away with a greater understanding of how the religions of the area relate to the history and development in the region. Recommend! Even in monsoon!!Written 8 October 2023
- adamfQ6084FA0 contributionsHistory Tour of Kolkata and MurshidabadIndia is awash in history, much of which changed the world. However, there is so much history in India, it's often difficult to find a knowledgeable guide with whom to learn about and explore it. Enter Five Senses Tours. My goal in coming to Kolkata was to learn about the origins and the eventual engine of the British Raj, and to see first hand what colonialism meant from a ground-up perspective. Five Senses did not disappoint! Bratati, my guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the Raj and of Kolkata, and took me on a walking tour of the heart of Kolkata (which, if you haven't been, is stunningly like Georgian-Victorian era London, only with warmer, more humid weather). It was fascinating and enlightening. (And the chai was delicious.) But the best was yet to come. Bratati took us on a custom designed tour of the Plassey battlefield and Murshidabad, and the story of Robert Clive, Mir Jafar, the Jagath Seths, and the East India Company unfolded for me. It was, in a word, fascinating. I'm very happy that I went to Kolkata and Murshidabad, and I'm even happier that I went with Five Senses Tours!Written 27 September 2023

Our Kolkata experiance was conducted by a very engaging young man Abhishek Roy whose knowledge of the area and command of English was excellent. We started quite early and finished, at our request, around 4:30. Our tour included comercial district, St Johns church, various monuments, museums always with good detailed history. Lunch was at local restraunt with a varied choice of regional food. It was only my wife and self running out of steam that prevented more being revealed. Overall a very interesting tour.

I had a long layover in Kolkata and 5Senses worked with me to arrange a tour that would fit my schedule. My Cultural Ambassador Anirban (“tour guide”) met me at the airport, we hopped in the car and it. It takes about an hour to get into the city so this definitely beat taxi or Uber. Anirban took me to several locations of cultural significance and I truly got a feel for Kolkata, the cultural capital of India. Anirban was clearly knowledgeable and personable. I would definitely do this if you want a guided way through a very complex city.

A full day might be long however the city is big and places of interest are plenty. Small walks in between refreshing and boat tour lovely but short. I recommend 45 min. Delicious lunch. Professional and friendly guide.

On arrival warmly welcomed, the guide and the driver first brought me to my hotel to refresh. Then the 4-day Kolkata city tour started. The old cemetery was the first of the series of sights I visited. Personal highlight is Mothers House, every attraction however big remains in the shadow of the simple Mothers House.
Have had several guides, all equally enthusiastic and very knowledgeable. In short, visiting Kolkata with a guide is highly recommended.

The full day city tour of Kolkata with Abhishek was very satisfying. Not only was he a great company, he also knows so much about the history and traditions of Kolkata that we could unravel what’s happening in the city. We also enjoyed the pipe organ in St John’s church. What a fantastic experience! The boat ride on the river was fantastic. We also had a great time in the museum where abhishek brought alive the exhibitis. This is a great way to explore kolkata if you have a full day.

The full day city tour of Kolkata is a great way to experience Kolkata. In one day, I got to see important landmarks as well as got a great flavor of the city. Abhishek was a fantastic guide. We started at the memorial founder of Kolkata. Then we visited magnificent architecturally beautiful buildings like the Writers, Victoria memorial and Raj Bhavan. Lunch was a simple local cuisine and tastefully prepared. The cruise over the Ganga river was really the highlight of this trip for me. Simply amazing and a must do for every traveler to Kolkata!
