Paddle through placid waters filled with playful bottlenose dolphins on this tour of the Alabama Gulf Coast. Gain a deeper understanding of these incredible mammals as you listen to your expert guide, who will share information about their diet, habitat and underwater community. This memorable tour is the perfect way to get up close to nature and is ideal for families and outdoors lovers. Sunset tour option is available.
What to Expect
Experience a dolphin encounter like none other - watch for and learn about Gulf Shores’ Bottlenose Dolphins in their natural environment from the intimate, unobtrusive, and non-threatening vantage point of a kayak while exploring optimal Bottlenose Dolphin habitat. Like all wild animals these dolphins can be elusive, but there is nothing like the thrill of seeing these magnificent creatures up close when they choose to show off. Either way, you will come away with an appreciation, understanding, and new found knowledge of dolphins as you learn about their life history, ecology, feeding behaviors, and communal nature.

If your a birding enthusiast, we will also visit a portion of the Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge that no driving tourist can reach, as it is accessible only by kayak (or helicopter - not included :->). Join us in exploring this extraordinary haven for migratory birds, nesting Loggerhead and Kemp's Ridley Sea Turtles, and the endangered Alabama Beach Mouse.

Named as one of the 10 natural wonders of Alabama, the BSNWR refuge serves the additional benefit of comprising one of the largest undeveloped parcels of land on the Alabama coast - its dunes are a reminder of the Gulf Coast, as it once existed.

This tour is definitely a MUST DO for any true eco-tourist! Regularly observed birds in BSNWR: Belted KingFisher, Great Blue Heron, Osprey, Great Egret, Cormorant, and Brown Pelican. In addition to dolphins and the wildlife of the BSNWR, parts of the Bon Secour River, Oyster Bay, and the Intracoastal Waterway are also home to various commercial vessels, so keep on the lookout for cool shrimp boats, crab boats, tug boats and barges, also covered by the tour.

Led by experienced Coastal Nature Guides who will introduce you to the fauna, flora, and history of Gulf Shores and its local waterways.

Please Note: This tour was previously known as the "Dolphins at Sunset" or "Bon Secour National Wildlife Kayak Tour."

Fun but hard in some spots.

Had an enjoyable tour, guides were great! Water was really choppy on the bay side which made paddling difficult at times. Didn’t see any dolphins but that’s ok.

No dolphins but still a worthwhile trip!

We went on the 10:00 tour with Austin who was a great tour guide. Even though we didn't get to see any dolphins, Austin provided great history and facts about the area and some of the animals and birds that we did get to see....More

We booked the Kayaking/Dolphins tour and we're not disappointed! Saw numerous dolphins and plenty of other wildlife. Only my wife and I had ever kayaked before, but my teenagers and 11 yr old had no trouble. Our guide, Mack, was very knowledgeable and recognized the...More

I think if you are reasonably fit (mainly core and upper body), then you should be ok. It was tiring by not exhausting. And, you will get wet so not sure if that is a concern for the foot brace. The guides are great a... More

I am not sure about age requirements. I would think so if accompanied by parent/s, but probably best to check with Wild Native Tours office. I found them to be quite responsive with my questions, either by email or phone.

About 2 1/2 hours. Our tour started at 4:30 PM and we were instructed to arrive at 4:10. We were in kayak until sun was setting and it was just getting dusk. I hope this helps.
