Frank picked us up with his driver and we were instantly impressed with his good command of English. Born in Shanghai, he gave us a very interesting talk on the way to th Water Village about the city and China in general. We first went through the beautiful Chinese gardens, then hopped on a boat ride through the Water Village which was very pretty and relaxing. Frank took us through the tiny streets of Zhujiajiao and we got to sample many of the tasty snacks, including stinky tofu, which really was quite nice. Would recommend Frank as a guide, if you're heading to Shanghai for the day.🙂

We had a wonderful time with Jessie as our tour guide. My husband and I reside in a different city in China and had a family friend come to visit so we took him to Shanghai. In addition to the water village tour, we also completed a Shanghai city tour, both with Jessie, and they were both amazing. Jessie is extremely knowledgeable about the area and very fun and personable. They next time we are in Shanghai I will definitely book with her and the folks at Gray Line! I highly recommend these professional tours!

Carol did a great job providing an overview of the water village, insights into food and culture, and visit to Silk Museum. Informative, comfortable and fun. Great way to get out of Shanghai for just an afternoon.

I was at Zhujiajiao Water Village for a half-day tour with my friend. Traffic was smooth, and the car ride there only took about an hour. Our guide, Robbie, was engaging and passionate about Shanghai and kept us entertained. The guide offered to help us take pictures. On the boat ride, he talked about the history of the town and the river systems. Afterward, we walked through the shops and tried out the local foods. He gave us time to shop by ourselves. Our tour was not rushed like some other tours we have been with and time management was great. Since we already went to the silk factory on a previous tour, we wanted to spend the extra time going somewhere else. We wanted to buy a jade dragon we saw at Bund, so the guide took us there. And then we wanted to buy some supplies at a supermarket, so the guide took us to a nearby supermarket too. Shoutout to Robbie! It was an overall extremely fun and relaxing experience. I would definitely recommend for anyone visiting Shanghai.

We were in Shanghai with our 16 and 6 year old. Jessie Hua/ Hua Lin took great care of us. We visited the water town on a very hot afternoon. She was a delightful companion for our family. Very attentive to our needs, friendly and knowledgeable. She arranged everything and it was smooth, comfortable travel. On another day she took us to parts of Shanghai - the high rises, the old city, the international area, and the bund. I highly recommend her! Enjoy China - it’s a great trip.

We had a great time with Grace on our tour of Zhujiajiao water village with a stop at the silk factory on the way back to our hotel. Her English was great and she was very knowledgeable about the traditional Chinese garden that we saw in Zhujiajiao

After booking, I reached out to Gray Line about details and was told that because of the national holiday, Zhujiajiao would be packed with tourists and was asked to change our reservation to a different day. That didn't work for us, so Gray Line let us know that they were "upgrading" us to a tour of Zhouzhuang water village instead, promising an even better experience than Zhujiaojiao.
After travelling almost 2 hours each way and then spending less than 2 hours in the village, it definitely did not make for a good experience. The town was pretty, and... packed with tourists from the holiday, just like Zhujiaojiao would have been.
The driver and tour guide Bruce were ok, they saved us time by knowing the ropes. By the time the planned tour and boat ride were done, we had 20 minutes of "free time" to walk around.
So overall not a great experience. Even outside of a national holiday, I am not sure that visiting either Zhujiaojiao or Zhouzhuang is a half-day thing, unless you're looking for a quick walk-through to take a few pictures and then move on to the next spot.

It is seat-in-coach tour, so the duration of transfer depends on the traffic condition on the travel day. We're sorry the traffic was not good that day, and it happened to be the holiday, so people are everywhere. Thanks for understanding.
We also have full-day private Zhouzhuang water town tour, so if guests have time, you may join the full-day tour, then you will have enough free time to walk about at the water town.
