Wow. What a current!
A beautiful hike down well made stairs leads to the base of this enormous falls. The pool opens up in a cavelike way with plant growth everywhere and water seeping through the mountainous overhangs. The falls are gorgeous and offer stunning photograph options. I was surprised how few people decided to swim. The water is comfortable and swimming toward the waterfall is such a unique experience. The current is so powerful! Our family are all experienced swimmers and could barely close half the distance to the waterfall. We weren’t intending to get all the way there to be safe but it was nearly impossible to move at all! It was such s rush of an experience. Be careful with the rocks though! They warned us they were slippery but they were the slipperiest rocks I’ve ever encountered so use caution! Totally worth it and highly recommend!

Beautiful waterfall!
This was a beautiful waterfall, not for the weak though, 500 stairs is no joke. We went further from the waterfall to get in the water because it was less rocky and had shallow waters for the little ones, that's where I took the picture of the fish.

Worth every bit of the $18.00 admission fee
A spectacular waterfall made especially worthy of the 500 steps down on a sunny morning. A refreshing swim to reenergize your 500 steps back up.

Worth the hike...but you better be in shape!
Mar 2021 • Family
Had this experience as part of our vacation package. We were warned of the hard hike. My wife and I are in decent shape although we don't hit the gym as often as we should. By the time we got to the bottom our legs were shaking. There were plenty of "break" spots on the stairs and fresh water at each location. At the bottom there was a large area to sit and enjoy a view of the jungle and a platform for taking pictures of the falls. The downside....no one told us to change at the top in the changing area so we got to the bottom in our hiking gear only to find no privacy to change. Thankfully we are not modest folks and just ducked behind a tree and changed in the woods. The water was refreshing after the hike and we spent a good hour swimming and exploring around the falls and river. They do have a "lifeguard" on duty but he was also there to keep tourists from going too far into the jungle. After swimming we started our hike back out....let me tell you, it was brutal! I think even a top shape person would be well winded by the time they reached the top. It took us about 45 minutes to get back to the top. Even our teenage son who is in great shape said it was rough. All in all, we are glad we did it but don't think we would go again but still worth the time & effort.

Great way to cool off at the end of the day
We visited the waterfall as our last stop of the day took about 20 min to get down and we spent about an hour bathing in the COLD waterfall and stream. I recommend water shoes. We bought a combo ticket with hanging bridges which saved us a few bucks. Be prepared for the hike back up 500 steps.

Fun place to visit
Mar 2021
We showed up late in the day, kind of pinched for time against closing, and Jon was very kind to stretch our stay a little at closing! Beautiful place and wish we could have been there longer.

There are better waterfalls for much less money
For 18 dollars, this is a total rip off. You can’t even swim close to the waterfall, the guy will start whistling at you. Too many tourists of course, and we saw better waterfall just few days before.
It was called Dos Novillos, it was only 2 dollars per person, but you hike for about 3 kilometers to get there, and after you have to climb a ladder to get to it, so definitelly not for old farts but perfect for adventure junkies.

Worth the stairs for the swim!
There are many stairs (600) to get from top to bottom and the highlight is swimming around the cascading water. Unfortunately there aren’t any viewing platforms (besides the top) so if you really wish to take a good picture, you must descend. Changing rooms are clean and available, recommend to arrive early to avoid the crowds.

Beautiful Views
Jan 2021
This again felt like we had the park to ourselves. I think we had the skip the line? But there was no line anywhere. The Guru Sloth signs telling us how many steps to go were cute and useful. The waterfall itself is really impressive!!! We spent a few hours, picnicing, climbing the rocks and swimming. Very beautiful spot. Fabulous gift shop with very fair prices.
