Went in for a few purchases, great surf/outdoor brands, sunscreen, hats, bathing suits, rashguards etc… nice size store with lots of choice. You can rent bikes here too!

We stopped in and shopped for a bit. Ended up buying some nice swim trunks. Gentleman who helped us was nice, knowledgeable and helpful. Cute puppy, too.

Andy and the crew at Friholes Locos went out of their way to set me up with a performance paddle board for several days while mine was delayed in transit. Saved my week. Saw a lot of surf shops in out tour around Nicola through Tamarindo, Nosara and Santa Teresa. But none compared to the selection and support from from the crew at Friholes! Awesome place and thanks Andy for the board and local surf tips!!

Awesome apartment close to Playa Grande. Very clean. Great location. Friendly staff helped me and my family get arround

I spent 9 days in Frijoles Locos Apartment with my family and had the greatest time. Location is perfect, you can walk for 5 minutes and get to the beach main entrance or less than a minute by car. The place has 2 spacious bedrooms, big kitchen, comfortable living room and a great terrace to watch sunsets and enjoy the afternoon by the pool. The staff is really kind and helpful, everyone is amazing, surf instructors, cleaning lady, hosts, they will give you local tips and they are always there for anything you need. They offer lots of tours and activities such as ATV, bike rentals, fishing tours and others, We personally booked the fishing tour with them and had a great time with BOOS Adventures. Julianne and Drew are THE best hosts, make sure you ask them for restaurant recommendations as we enjoyed every suggestion they made. I would totally recommend this stay to anyone, couples, families, friends etc. We will definitely be back.

The staff is really great here. They are experienced and very helpful. We used them mostly for rentals - surfboards and body boards. They have some good options - for beginners or novices. I was surprised at the number of options for quality surf boards down there - for rent. The rental prices are very reasonable - but the clothing is way too expensive. My kids bought rash guard (shirts), hats and stickers. If you need any rash guards, bring it or get that somewhere else. When the swell died down, I took the surfboards back but they would not refund me for the days not used, but only offered in "store credit". Not ideal. (They said that working with credit cards in Costa Rica is very difficult and crediting my card was too onerous. I heard that about 2-3 times from different stores in Cost Rica). Overall, great store.

Very impressed with this shop. Drew, Elroy and crew are extremely helpful and offer everything a beginner or veteran surfer needs. I chose not to bring a board on this trip, so I arranged for a rental online. After I arrived and picked up a board, I realized I needed a different shape for the conditions. They gladly exchanged boards for me. The shop also has a great selection of new boards and clothing. This will be the go to shop for me on my future trips.

Can't ask for a better surf shop to get you started in Playa Grande. We rented surf boards and boogie boards weeks in advance and they were ready for us when we arrived. We also rented two bikes but returned them the next day. Would not recommend the bikes - very old and not well maintained but I don't blame the surf shop. They promptly refunded my money for the bikes, Also purchased numerous products in the shop. Will definitely use this shop again when I return to Playa Grande. The town is awesome.

The owner assisted my son in the purchase of a surf board before we arrived. He was very helpful and his staff members were very polite and willing to assist us on several matters. My husband rented a body board at this location. Highly recommend for your surfing needs.

Name brand surf wear and accessories were very good (men, women & kids). We rented snorkel gear which they only had a limited supply but enough for our family. They gave us an excellent recommendation for a snorkeling spot. We saw lots of fish!

Definitely a surf shop. If you are looking for strictly surf apparel this is the place. You will not find beach clothes.

Diego was an awesome instructor and very good with my 3 kids and myself. We had an awesome time and each of us go up on the board quickly. Highly recommend Frijoles Locos!

The shop has an amazing selection of clothing and equipment for both sale and rent. My family had JJ as their instructor. He was very good and showed them an excellent surf beach near the shop.

Rented beach chairs for the week. Reasonable prices and they treated us well. Would definitely use them again for any beach equipment needs.

Great time with JJ and team. They got our whole family up on surfboards and were very kind and considerate. JJ even took time to tell my children to cherish these moments with their parents as time goes by too quickly. The surf shop staff is great as well.
