DO NOT USE 3rd part tour company, JACAMAR TOURS, in Planet Hollywood
They have a 3rd part tour company, JACAMAR TOURS, who is a total scam. Their onsite Rep, Benito, will promise activities which will never happen. The company will change up the activities on the day the excursion start. Once they have your money, they will screw you over. Make sure he gives you receipt of exactly what activities that will be done. He gave us a blank receipt (my fault). There's so much to write to what occurred and we brought this to our private Butler. All I can say is DO NOT USE Ben from JACAMAR TOURS. Stick with Costco tours. I wish Planet Hollywood can help with what happened with Benito as I'm having to fight with my credit card company to dispute the charge.

Arenal canopy/ zip line
Excellent crew very attentive and professional. It was a great fun. They picked us up from the hotel the driver was very nice and share some information about great places to eat around town. The canopy crew were very friendly and even offered to take our pictures. We purchased the package of pictures that they sold however it was not necessary some e we were able too take lots of pictures ourselves.

Fantastic tours, super smart, friendly and professional guides
We went with Jacamar to Arenal Volcano (with Francisco), Hanging Bridges (review already written), Rio Celeste, and Monteverde (with Bernardo). Your guides are super knowledgeable and helped us see things we never would have noticed and provided us with education about your country, culture and most importantly for us, the flora and fauna surrounding us. Everyone was super caring and made sure we got the most we could out of our experiences. I would highly recommend your tours to anyone visiting Costa Rica.

Great experience in La Fortuna!
Erick at Volcano Lake Adventures Tour was great. He's a California native, so he's totally bilingual, and a very affable guy. Our tour guide, Wilmer, was beyond excellent. It was so heartwarming to hear him speak with such knowledge, pride and love for his beautiful country. A great day of trekking in nature followed by relaxing hot springs.

8 am morning horseback to see volcano
Our adventure was booked the night before through our hotel. We were just two minutes away from the Jacamar tour center. There are bathrooms and a nice porch for resting and enjoying the pet doggies while you get ready for your zip line or tour. We were the only ones so it was a private ride with trained and maintained horses. All tack was in excellent shape and helmets were provided. Miguel- our excellent guide also had rain ponchos for us and to keep the horses tack dry when a quick downpour came. We had a delightful ride with gorgeous views of the volcano and the la fortuna region. Our tour was not on this list. It was simply a 2-3 hour ride to see the volcano. We are experienced riders and enjoyed racing back up and down the hills when the horses knew the way. You don’t need to speak Spanish but the horses think you do, so you must at least be able to comfortably use the command “alto” I would return here again for another horseback riding tour but I am too scared for the canopy tours. They did look “safe” and secure here as far as I could see from the trailheads.

Fun trip and very educational. Great Experience!
We had a wonderful guide named Ronald. He worked with other guides in spotting wildlife during out walk through the park. He pointed out a Fur-de-Lance snake to us and warned me about getting too close and showed a great deal of concern for us during the entire trip. He watched our belongings while we played on the beautiful beach. He was very attentive and showed us snakes, spiders. sloths and monkeys as well as many iguanas along the path. Ronald was a top-notch guide!

Good value, great memories!
There must be a dozen ziplining places in La Fortuna, but we settled on this one mainly because they had the best price! We had a great experience- hotel pickup was easy, and everyone we interacted with was very professional and friendly. Our guides, Anthony and Ronald, kept us safe but made sure we had a good time and even took time to point out different plants and animals and tell us a bit about the area! Definitely recommend paying the photographer to come along as well- our photos came out amazing! They had complimentary fruit and water at the end of the tour which was a nice touch. From pickup to dropoff I'd say the whole trip took about 2.5 hours. We took time to do the Tarzan swing (included) which was a blast! Money well spent, would recommend to anyone! Of note, their course does involve some walking along the ground and a decent amount of stairs. I wore my Chaco sandals and had no issues, though.

Hot Springs were amazing...not worth the drive from Jaco
A tedious 3 hour drive from Jaco Beach was followed by an interesting and informative guided tour of the Arenal Park. The highlight was basking in the hot springs of the Baldi resort followed by buffet lunch. A long drive back to Jaco beach dampened the day however.

Waterfall Canyoning and Ziplining
Tony was an amazing guide and the rest of the crew was so fun. This was a crazy adventure and the canyoning was nothing like I expected. It was scary on the first waterfall (you basically go straight down) but you get the hang of it. You go underwater a few times so heads up if you don't like that -- you don't have a choice but get dunked for a second or two. Nothing you can't handle for sure. Definitely a once in a lifetime experience!

La Fortuna Waterfall-Arenal Volcano Hike
This tour company was recommended to me by Samantha at My Tan Feet. We did 4 activities in one day with Jacamar, starting with a beautiful, relaxing safari float down Pena’s Blancas River. It was very beautiful, & we saw monkeys, birds, snakes & learned about the area from our very knowledgeable guides. Next we went to a local farm for traditional Costa Rican coffee & snacks, yum! Then on to La Fortuna Waterfall which is breathtaking, literally 500 steps!! But really worth it. On to another farm for a delicious lunch, then over to hike an old lava flow with our guide. To finish our day we ended at Ecotermales Hot Springs, for dinner & relaxing in the natural springs. The day was amazing & a fantastic way to explore the Rainforest area near La Fortuna. All the guides were very friendly, knowledgeable & I highly recommend them for all your tours in that area.

Tranquil Wildlife Float
Our family of 3 (two adults and 12 year old son) took a morning float down the Penas Blanacs River in mid August with Jacamar Tours. It was extremely enjoyable. We were lucky to have no rain during our Float! Our guide Dionis and driver Johnny were the best. As a special bonus to our adventure, at the start of our drive to the river they quickly pulled over. There was a sloth in a hedge. Highly unusual, sloths are typically way up in the trees. Amazing! We were literally face to face and took eye level photos with this sloth (not too close, he started to hiss at us). The float down the river was so quiet, peaceful and tranquil. The Float is the type used on white water rafting, so no motor. Our guide did all the rowing that was needed. We were the only humans on the river that morning (another good reason to come during rainy season – Costa Rica schools are out on “summer break” December/January during high tourist season). You must request Dionis – he was able to communicate with the howler monkeys! He did the howler money call and one (likely the alpha male) responded back. It was so fun. We saw a lot of monkeys frolicking along the river, many birds and a few sloths way up in the trees. Our adventure ended with a delicious snack at a local farmhouse. Highly recommend this peaceful adventure!

Absolutely amazing and one of our trip highlights!
My family and I just did this tour with our super guide Jaido and driver Alberto. It exceeded all our expectations and was really marvelous. Jaido knew so, so much and answered all my questions (of which there many!)--and was able to keep my 15-year old son and 12-year old daughter really engaged and interested. We saw so many interesting things--too many to list, but saw several sloths, poison dart frogs, toucans, and even a really beautiful owl. The guides really were terrific, the van was immaculate--and they even gave us cold water and fresh cut fruit.

La Fortuna Waterfall / Stand Up Paddle Boarding at Lake Arenal
We booked a waterfall hike with Jacamar in July and were pleasantly surprised that we were the only ones on this tour (we are a couple in our fifties). Allan was our guide and he promptly met us at the appointed time and drove us to the waterfall entrance where there is a restroom (large/clean) where we changed into our swimsuits. We then made the short hike (20 mins) down to the water. We were able to leave our things/towels with Allan while we went exploring. Spent about 1.5 hours in the water (wear water shoes, it is very rocky), and made the hike back up to the restaurant for a quick lunch. Allan was very patient and easy to talk to. We spent some time at the restaurant learning about the Costa Rica area/history before driving back to the hotel. The next day we booked a stand up paddle boarding tour and to our surprise, Allan showed up as our guide and again we were the only ones for the morning. Another private tour! Being our first time on paddle boards, Allan taught and demonstrated the basic techniques, and accompanied us the entire time we were out on the water. He even had a boat follow us to the small island and back just in case we were tired or wanted water. This boat was large enough to hold 25 people! Because we brought our phones (buy a waterproof pouch-they are worth the $6), Allan was able to take photos of us on the water and on the island. Again, he was very personable and answered many questions about the area/people/culture etc. It was a very relaxing morning on the water, and we finished by having coconut water from fresh coconuts that Allan brought along. We were very happy with both of our tours as there were no gliches, pick up was on-time, we never felt rushed and we were told to take our time. La Fortuna is a beautiful area, I would highly recommend Allan and Jacamar tours to friends and family.

Can't wait to do it again!
I really didn't want to do this at first but the second I did, I was hooked. They made sure we were very safe, they were nice and friendly and welcoming. We saw some Toucans, howler monkeys, and great views. I'm not a fan of the tarzan swing but my husband and daughter loved it. The guy taking pictures and videos did a great job too!
