Just right after sun sets is the best time to see frogs, scorpions, snakes, lizards, tarantulas, grasshoppers, spiders and sometimes even kinkajous, deer and sloths. Our certified nature experts guides will give you a very unique perspective and view of the animals through our spotting scope, as well incredible pictures taken through the scope.

I highly recommend NOT booking this tour and finding a different company for a night walk. There are many that do this type of tour and I’d recommend spending your money elsewhere. The guide that we had for the actual tour itself deserves a higher rating, he was great. But the actual company that we had the tour with deserves zero stars! They were awful to deal with!! There was a mix up with the date of the booking, on Trip Advisor it showed one date on our end and they said it showed a different date on their end. They showed up the day before our tour and said they didn’t show our tour for the following day. My husband went back and forth with the tour operator via phone and via WhatsApp, we sent him multiple screenshots of what Trip Advisor showed on our end for the booking AND screenshots of the chat messages with the tour company that also showed that our booking was confirmed for the day we had but they would NOT honor it!!! They said it was a 100% “cancellation fee” and that we could not get our money back or just apply it to the correct day!!! He said we’d have to pay again to go on the tour and we were out the money either way. Eventually they agreed to give us a discounted rate to “rebook” even though we shouldn’t have had to pay anything since we had already paid! We were a group of 8 and everyone wanted to do a night tour, there wasn’t another tour provider available in less than 24 hours and it was our final excursion of the trip, so I paid it AGAIN and we went. The guide was fine, the tour was okay, but the company itself is awful. We did MANY tours while we were in CR, I reviewed all of them and they were all FANTASTIC! This is the only one that had horrible customer service and the tour was just okay. I’d steer clear and book elsewhere. There are many awesome tour providers in CR, this just isn’t one of them. I’d avoid a crappy experience and choose someone else.

Hi Jennifer Frutos,
I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to address the recent confusion surrounding your reservation amendment from May 6th to May 5th. On April 24th at 11:50 am, we received your booking confirmation via TripAdvisor. Following that, at 12:06 pm, we promptly sent you additional information and reconfirmed your scheduled pick-up at 5:40 pm for the tour on May 6th.
Regrettably, at 7:55 pm on April 24th, you modified your reservation from May 6th to May 5th. This adjustment was unexpected and left us in a challenging situation. Despite this, we made every effort to accommodate your request. We ensured our team was ready on time, as originally planned for your requested day, and even offered flexibility by rescheduling your tour for the following day. Please note that there was a minimum penalization of 25% to cover the incurred expenses associated with this change.
We understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise, and we genuinely sympathize with any inconveniences you may have experienced. However, it is disheartening to see our efforts go unrecognized, especially after going above and beyond to find a suitable solution.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this matter. Should you have any further concerns or if there's anything we can do to assist you, please feel free to reach out.
Thank you for your kind consideration.
Best regards,
Marvin Parra

PLEASE BEWARE! This is a dangerous tour! We had a close encounter with a fer-de-lance snake, the deadliest snake in Costa Rica, which is prevalent and likely to strike. My 12 year old son discovered it at almost a few feet away and at eye-level and thank God slowly backed away and it did not strike him! I’m still in shock and don't know how I will ever forgive myself for booking this tour for my family and risking my son’s life! The name of the tour is misleading, it's not in Manual Antonio National Park, which has very wide trails and tall trees. The trail on this tour is in the back of a hotel, it starts out wide but then gets narrower and the tree branches are low with leaves touching your head. Not a good idea with deadly snakes around especially at night! You have to shine the flashlight down and all around constantly to check for snakes. If I had known that, I never wouldn't booked this tour! Our tour guide and the others we saw as well, seemed like nice, very knowledgeable young men. I’m honestly concerned for their safety as I am for my own sons. That is not a safe trail! I was still in shock when coming out of the trail, where we encountered 2 other groups with children going in. The guides talked in code to warn each other about the danger of the snake but didn't actually use the word “snake”. They also seemed really scared. Which they should be! The whole thing was very sketchy and dangerous! We had been on other tours (with wider trails) and they were very open about where snakes were found. It feels like this company just wants money. If they cared about safety, this tour on that trail wouldn't exist!

Thank you for sharing your concerns. We appreciate your feedback and take safety very seriously.
Our company has been conducting the Manuel Antonio Jungle Night Tour for over six years, and by the grace of God, we have never had any snake-related incidents. Like all reputable companies operating the same tour in the area, safety is our top priority.
The name "Manuel Antonio Jungle Night Tour" refers to the geographical location, not the National Park. We operate night tours in various locations across the country and never claim to offer a night tour within the National Park itself. Please read the tour description carefully and feel free to ask any questions if you need clarification.
All our guides are certified and undergo rigorous training to understand and manage the risks involved in their job. Our insurance policies cover both our staff and customers extensively. Contrary to Valerie's comment, our tour prices are among the most affordable in the area, which can be verified with a quick search on Google, TripAdvisor, etc.
Our guides are trained to make the right decisions in dangerous situations. We provide high-quality, nearly $100 rechargeable flashlights to ensure excellent illumination and visibility on the trails.
Safety is our priority, and our team is highly experienced in handling encounters with wildlife. We understand your concerns, but we assure you that our guides are well-equipped and trained to manage such situations effectively.
If you have any further questions or need more information, please feel free to reach out. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Conclusion: When visiting Costa Rica, encountering wildlife, including potentially dangerous animals like snakes, is a possibility due to the country's rich biodiversity. However, these encounters are rare, especially when you follow safety protocols and heed expert guidance. Costa Rica's tourism industry is well-equipped to handle and mitigate risks associated with wildlife.
To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience:
Follow Your Guide’s Instructions: Certified guides are trained to navigate and manage wildlife encounters. Their instructions are crucial for your safety.
Stay on Designated Trails: Straying from marked paths can increase the likelihood of encountering dangerous animals.
Use Provided Equipment: High-quality equipment, like flashlights, enhances visibility and safety during tours, especially at night.
Remain Calm and Observant: If you do encounter wildlife, stay calm and follow your guide's lead.
By following these guidelines, you can safely enjoy the incredible natural beauty and wildlife of Costa Rica.

The €10 cash entrance fee was a surprise; especially since the first part of the tour was in hotel grounds!
The Guide seemed to have little knowledge of some of the fauna; and the majority were spotted by us tourists ……
The Guide was abrupt; verging on rude, and full of curt comments and instructions, but no manners.
Hunter J’s report says it all, and the response to his comments were corporate waffle in my opinion. I think Hunter J was on the same tour; his comment to me as he left the van was ‘the man’s an arse’

A discerning traveler will never squander their money; they will instead fully immerse themselves in and cherish each experience. However, it's essential to acknowledge that the journey may not always align with your expectations; nature is as it is. Sometimes, it offers pleasant encounters with abundant wildlife, while at other times, it presents challenges.
Assuming responsibility is crucial; you can't shift blame onto others without thorough consideration. The description was clear, and you were aware of the $10 entrance fee. However, it appears there was a mismatch between you and your guide, leading to a situation where you seem to be justifying yourself with excuses, creating an impression that you were unaware of the nature of the tour you were joining.
The guide has been informed and temporarily suspended while a careful decision is made, prioritizing the company's and dedicated staff's best interests.

To start this tour is not actually inside the park but actually takes place on a small trail by a hotel at the edge of the park. This was confusing to me at first but that said just because its not in the park doesn't mean the animals magically aren't around. Our guide Andrew was very energetic was enthusiastic. We spotted several cool frogs, toads, and spiders. He had a scope and helped us spot things from a distance. Unfortunately, halfway through our tour it started downpouring and it clearly became evident we wouldn't see much anymore and he called it quits for us. He offered us all a discount refund since we were only able to tour for an hour which was nice. I was still satisfied with what we got to see. It's definitely a different world at night and you'll certainly see things you wont' during the day. It was great to have someone be able to better spot things and also identify and teach us about them.

Thank you Thomas for giving us your review. We double heck our night tour description and no where says this tour takes place in the park, but it takes place in Manuel Antonio, which is actually the name of the area. It actually takes places at Espadilla Reserve, which is a private project of conservation right next to the park, that belongs to Playa Espadilla Hotel. On the other hand, weather conditions here might change really quickly due to microclimes, so, when we start a tour we are fingers crossing to have enought time for the, sometimes we don't. The area is very rich on day and night wildlife, sometimes you dont necessary need to be in the park you see animals and learn about them. Thank you Very much Thomas.
PD: Cancellations due to weather conditions are never charge. If we partially do the tour, we particially charge for it.

Jose was really professional and knowledgeable. We saw tons of stuff - like snakes, frogs, tarantulas, spiders, raccoons, deer. He gave us lots of interesting facts about the animals and wildlife. Would recommend to anyone interesting in wildlife who wants to do something a bit different than the usual tours!

Spent the first half walking around hotels, once we got to the trail we didn't go far. We saw a venomous snake, turned around and the tour was over. One hundred percent wasn't worth the price. They charge $10 for an enterence fee, which doesn't make sense because it was not inside a national park. 100 percent book a different night tour.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your valuable feedback. We sincerely apologize for the less-than-ideal experience you encountered during our night tour. Your honest comments are instrumental in our ongoing efforts to refine and improve our services for the benefit of future guests.
Encountering a venomous snake on the trail, specially a large one, like the one found that day, can indeed be an unexpected and unsettling situation, and we want to assure you that the safety of our guests is our paramount concern. We regret that this incident resulted in the tour concluding 15 minutes earlier than planned. Our guides are extensively trained to handle a variety of situations, and decisions are sometimes made swiftly in the interest of safety.
Concerning the entrance fee, we understand your apprehension. As a private reserve, an entrance fee is a standard requirement, and we appreciate your understanding of this policy. It's important to note that all pertinent information about the night tour, including its location and specific details, is provided in our communications. We acknowledge that there may have been a misunderstanding, especially regarding the name of the tour, "Manuel Antonio Jungle Night Tour." This nomenclature is derived from the tour's location in Manuel Antonio, and we also offer night tours in other regions of Costa Rica. We want to clarify that we do not promote night tours within Manuel Antonio National Park.
For any future concerns or queries, we encourage you to reach out to our customer service team. We are committed to addressing your concerns promptly and providing a suitable resolution.
Once again, we apologize for any inconvenience caused, and we genuinely appreciate your feedback, as it serves as a crucial guide for us to continually enhance our services.
Best regards,

Josue was our guide. We are from the US and have a bit of a problem with heavy Spanish accents. Josue enunciated clearly with a loud enough voice that we understood him. He is very knowledgeable and spotted animals we would have never seen. The location was great also and we appreciated the pick up from our Airbnb. I appreciated that he also was knowledgeable about the plants as well as the critters.

We really enjoyed touring the park after dark and seeing the wildlife from a different perspective. The first portion of our tour was through a parking lot and alley way that could use some attention as it was full of litter. We did get to see a toucan, crocodile, and lots of tree frogs and toads in that area. The tour along the trails was more scenic and pristine. Our tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable.

Transport was comfortable and on time. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and spoke really good English. Water and torches were provided and our guide used a telescope to help us see the animals up close. He then sent us all the pictures after the tour. Really cool experience would definitely recommend - but bring bug spray!

How are people getting good photos of the creatures at night? Looking for advice. Probably my iPhone will take some okay photos. My big camera would need a tripod and flash.
