Sharing our vehicle was the family from hell. Two small children screamed and carried on as they were bored and wanted to play video games the whole time. The parents did nothing to make them behave, just kept feeding then candy. Our driver was very nice and handled the vehicle well over the rough terrain, but was not a guide at all. we saw other companies' drivers get out an explain things along the way. Our just played a pre-recorded tape as we drove along, which we could not hear due to the screaming children and the loud music used as backing for the talking. The views were lovely and only marred when it started to rain on the descent. We had booked a restaurant lunch, but were told by the driver that a picnic would be better. He shoved what he thought was the equivalent to the US$40 a person we prepaid into our hands and stopped at a small bakery to have us buy sandwiched. We were cheated on that deal as we did not receive the equivalent of US $40 each. Had we been with a more mature group, the tour probably would have been better. Small children do not belong on this tour as the bumpy road makes it dangerous for them being thrown around. They get bored as well. Pity the trip was marred by them.

Sorry but we don't control children's moods, like you never had children. Then if the parents do not manage their children, it is not our fault. and we do not babysit. Indeed, our vehicle is equipped with an audio system at the rear of the vehicle, and this is precisely what makes us strong, so our driver-guide does not need to go out to do the explanations. We are the only vehicle among all safaris that have music in the back compared to others. The stories are recorded and in all languages, and that's a big advantage compared to other safaris. And among all the customers we've had, only you are complaining. The rain does not spoil the landscape, it is part of the landscape. To believe that it never rains where you are. For lunch in the restaurant, we had complaints from other customers, saying that the service was too slow, that it was expensive and that it wasn't filling. But yes, we will assume that you will indeed arrive there. You've been saved money and time and you're still complaining. The driver gave you back 8000 cfp in cash and in person. You are just a person of bad faith and who does not like children. We don't need anyone with your mindset on our beautiful island. Have a good day.

I picked this excursion thinking it would be a great way to see the island, I was partially wrong. The tour was only in the mountain. As stated in the description there wasn’t any lunch provided. The tour guide took us to the grocery store for snacks and food. During the tour I was expecting to see animals or something exciting, there weren’t any. The only wildlife we seen were the chickens. This is something that should be told to tourist. There’s a lot of foliage. We did see a lot of waterfalls, I guess that’s the highlight. I personally don’t feel like the tour is worth $130 and I wouldn’t recommend it. A stop at a local beach or a local restaurant would have been great but that’s not what this tour is. I’m really disappointed. I wasted 6 hours looking at the same plants and waterfalls. The driver was nice. Also the suggestion for bug spray was a must, the bugs are terrible.

This excursion is dedicated only to the center of the island and not to the island tour. Lunch was never included in the tour and that's why we stopped at the bakery to get something to eat and drink. Concerning the animals in the valley, yes they are very rare. That's how it is on our island. This is not a sorry zoo. And yes there is a lot of foliage, that's because it rains a lot here. That's how it is with us. Compared to the $130 prices, don't forget that Tripadvisor and Viator take a commission on it. For stopping at a local beach or in the local restaurant no we do not, because this is not our circuit. In the end, I think you took the wrong tour and maybe you should have gone around the island in the big buses rather than going on an excursion in the mountains. Sincerely.

My daughter and my good friend and I did this and had the best time!! Our guide was friendly kind and very knowledgeable. The group we went with spoke French and we speak English but our guide explained everything to all of us seamlessly and it was not an issue. Absolutely stunning scenery!

This is a must do in Tahiti!!! We spent a few days in Tahiti before we went to Bora Bora for our honeymoon and this trip was so amazing!!! Maco was soooo funny and informative. He really made the trip so enjoyable for everyone of all ages and flipped between French and English so easily. His English was great. The views you get from going through the island are unmatched. We spent the first day driving around the outside of the island but going through the inside is really where it’s at. Pictures didn’t do the tour any justice. We saw many waterfalls and mountains. The greenery was so interesting. We would definitely recommend this tour but keep in mind it will take the whole day. We started at nine and finished around five. The roads are bumpy which we were worried about being sore the next day but we woke up the next morning not sore. (We are both in our early thirties) Keep in mind you will want to stand most of the trip because that’s the way to really see everything. We would recommend standing in the front as that’s the best view and no one’s heads will obstruct your view.

This excursion was amazing! There were several similar excursion trucks that we saw, but this one was the best dressed, had the nicest and cleanest truck, and even took his momma along for the ride. By the end of the day, we were all friends. He took us up, which was higher than I expected, we traversed the entire big island, swam in the river, crossed a tunnel, he pulled over and got us some amazing guava, all while narrating in English and French. The roads were legit rugged off road where normal vehicles could not pass, we felt safe with him at all times. He was very nice and I highly recommend. Communication was easy before and during the trip. Picked us up and dropped us off right at the hotel. 5 stars!

Great time. Picked up at Hilton Tahiti on time, quick stop at market to pick up sandwiches for lunch. Then off. As soon as we got off the highway we were allowed to stand in pickup bed. Morning 4x4 ride was thrilling then stopped along river for picnic lunch and we all swam in the river. Then most of the other tours turned back but we continued for thrilling second half. 4x4 was much more intense and fun - bumpy and steep along narrow 4x4 roads through center of island and through the tunnel. Rained at times but that was fine. Drove by Lake Vaihiria. Very lush with waterfalls and steep cliffs along the way. Total blast. My wife and I and the other couple in their 50s/60s stood the whole time but the 30-year olds seemed to tire out after they took their selfies. I totally recommend taking a tour that crosses the entire island. Would definitely do it again! Jim and Linda from San Diego

This was a great way to see Tahiti! Our tour guide was really informative and funny. He did a great job explaining Tahiti and took some time for everyone to take pictures . It is a very bumpy safari so make sure you can handle that part (maybe bring Dramamine). The scenery was absolutely gorgeous. It does rain during certain parts of the tour so bring a rain jacket. In the beginning of the trip our tour guide took us to a snack shop where you can buy sandwiches and pastries. Overall, I would highly recommend this safari!

One of the best tours I've ever been on, the experience was amazing. It was easy to contact Tahiti Safari Islander tours and arrange a pick up and answer any questions. The environment and scenery was mesmerizing it felt like I was in a movie. Our guide Rai Nui was great, super knowledgeable about the nature and history of the island, funny and friendly ready to answer any question and a great driver. The best part for me was swimming in the river and seeing all the waterfalls. Highly recommended.

A great, fun time over some scenic (and bumpy) roads. Vaitea was a careful, safe driver offering information on the area, photo stops, with a bit of Polynesian history thrown in the package. Overall a great time with a knowledgeable company that was well worth the money.

Disappointing. We were with one other couple, and due to potential closures, difficulties, we were given two choices, but really one choice. When we got off the main road, the guide stopped, had us get out and explained we could either try to continue on, but there would be no way to contact someone if we needed help or got stuck, or we could drive around the island and see some sites. There was no refund option given (as stated in a previous response to a similar review.) We were also told they had the only PA system on the island, able to talk to you in the back of the truck. We expected to hear a lot about the people, culture, history of places and sites we would visit throughout the day. When brought to Venus Point, the guide said, “here is the light house.” No mention of any of the history behind this most historical place on the island. After being shown a few beaches and sites and feeling like all we did was drive the main road around the island, we all opted to just end the tour early. I understand that it’s rainy season and that tours can be changed at the last minute, but most disappointing was the lack of an actual tour guide who shared knowledge, history and explanations of things. They should really put the PA system to use!
