About
Explore Mendenhall Glacier on this exclusive adventure tour into the Alaskan Wilderness. Your expert guides will lead you on a journey across Mendenhall Lake where you will paddle together with a small group past icebergs, giant waterfalls, and wildlife. On your way to the ice, you will be surrounded by breathtaking scenery of mountain peaks nestled in the Tongass National Forest. Upon landing the canoe at a remote beach site, your guides will safely lead you on an interpretive hike around the rocky surfaces located directly in front of the glacier. Here you will discover the magnificent ice features up close. Views of specific glacial features like Ice Caves and Moulins cannot be guaranteed due to the nature of the constantly moving ice. Every tour is unique and space is limited, making this Juneau’s most exciting and sought-after adventure tour.

What an experience! From Jasons help on the phone to Ryan and Baxter on the trip! You guys are all top notch! This was truly an experience of a lifetime. Ryan and Baxter made this trip! Their knowledge and entertainment was a great addition to an incredible site. Picture do not do justice to the glacier. Thank you so much for making our trip! 7 day Alaska cruise and the glacier and your team was the best part! And we came close to beating the record time canoeing back!!

Baxter and Jason, you guys are certified professional lecturers in the Natural Sciences department! Hands down the most informative, enjoyable and beautiful up close glacier exploration we have done to date! If you’ve done crampon hiking on Matanushka, this is a totally different experience with some wonderful add-ons including ice cave formations, paddling through a glacial lake and learning so much about glacier behavior through it’s recessive and growth periods. Will have to do again with friends and family next time I am in Juneau. Totally worth your time and money!!

Amazing experience. Our guides Baxter and Jason are super helpful and informative. We get to and from the glacier via a canoe trip (everyone participates); definitely an upper-body workout. After that, a hike to the glacier and back, checking out ice caves along the way.

If you're not coming via cruise ship, just know that there is no public parking next to the pickup/dropoff point. The closest public parking is a 5-10 minute walk away. It's the "Shopper's Lot" on the corner of Main and Egan (the open air lot, not the structure next to it). There's also the "Marine Parking Garage" at Marine and Franklin that is a little closer, but only 20 spaces are available (the rest are permit or library parking).

Wow, what an amazing experience! Baxter and Jason were full of great information and taught us so much about the Glacier and surrounding area. We paddled a canoe through Mendenhall Lake to the Mendenhall Glacier. We hiked to the edge of the Glacier and we're able to see some ice caves and explore around the Glacier. I would highly recommend doing this over flying on a helicopter! We even saw a rainbow when we got back.

Unreal! Absolutely stunning views w incredible guides Jason and Baxter! Extremely informative on the history of the glacier, rocks, surroundings and how to remember the names of 5 salmon just by the illustration of our hand. If I remember correctly it’s thumb-chum, index finger is like poke eye so it’s the sockeye, middle is the king salmon, wedding finger is the silver salmon and pinkie finger is the pink salmon. It’s like an educational field trip but w the most breathtaking views! Trip of a lifetime we will never forget!

We have cruised to Alaska twice and this was our favortie tour. Casey and Ryan were amazing. The experience of paddling to a glacier and then walking next to it was one we will always remember. The pictures we took and share do not due the tour justice. You have to be there to completley understand how awesome it was. Big shout out to Casey and Ryan...thank you guys!

Kasey & Ryan were great! Very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Paddling to the glacier was a great work out and they made it enjoyable. Walking on the glacier was amazing. We enjoyed collecting rocks too! We saw a stunning ice cave/cavity.

This was a first class tour from start to finish. One of our two guides, Andrew, picked us up near the port. We had a small group of about 12. It was about a 20-30 minute drive to the lake. It went by quickly as Andrew shared facts about the city as he drove. Once we arrived, the second guide, Casey, had our gear ready for us. There were tailgating tents set up with seating for us to use while putting on the gear. The process was very organized. They provided jackets, gloves, pants, rain boots (plan to wear their boots. They were better than waterproof hiking boots), helmets, life jackets and a dry bag for extra clothing. They already had the snacks (granola, trail mix and fruit chews) in the dry bag. I was impressed by the nice quality and good condition of the gear provided. Safety was important, but both guides kept if fun. The kayaking took about 45 minutes. It was more strenuous for some (those who actually paddled the canoe than others (those that wanted to ride). We took multiple breaks. Once we arrived near the glacier, we hiked the moraine. We were not able to actually get on the glacier due to the rain and melting, but were able to enter into a cave that was created by the erosion. Both guides made sure we all had time to get great pictures. They actually took many of them for us. The guides were knowledgable about the glacier and surrounding area. It was very easy to talk with either of them. Once we finished paddling back across the lake, hot drinks were waiting for us. This tour was worth every penny paid. Wouldn't hesitate in booking with them again for another adventure.

We started out in Juneau and took a van to Mendenhall Lake. There we were fitted with a life jacket, helmet, rain pants and jacket. Our guides were Casey and Ryan. Both guides were very personable and ensured that everyone in the group felt comfortable and safe. We then all got in a larger canoe an rowed across the lake to the shore next to the glacier. Snacks and water were provided and we ate those prior to the hike. From there we had a short hike to the base of the glacier. Our weather was amazing and it did not rain at all. We even had a bit of sun. The views were amazing and it was a great experience.
