Take a wild ride in a Tomcar on this 3-hour off-roading adventure from Ketchikan. Following an experienced guide, steer a Tomcar utility vehicle seating two along unpaved mountain paths in dense Alaskan rain forest, and admire wildlife, waterfalls and the breathtaking scenery of Behm Canal, the Inside Passage and Tongass National Forest. Expect the ride to be bumpy — and dirty — but the thrills and heart-stopping views are totally worth it.
What to Expect
Make your way to the Ketchikan Visitors Bureau, where you'll board a coach that takes you deep into the Alaskan rain forest for your 3-hour heart-pumping, off-road adventure.

Upon arrival at base camp, receive a 20-minute safety briefing to meet your guide, don your gear and become familiar with how to drive your Tomcar, the off-road utility vehicle. Then take the steering wheel or hop into the passenger's seat of your Tomcar and follow your guide into the woods.

Enjoy the immersion in the Alaskan backcountry as you travel along 14 miles (23 km) of unlevel dirt paths, make stops at scenic lookout points to snap shots of waterfalls and soak up the views of Tongass National Forest, the Inside Passage, Behm Canal and Clover Passage.

Stop at the halfway point for a light snack and water break, and then switch drivers if you like. Throughout your outing, keep your eyes peeled for eagles, deer or perhaps even a bear.

After returning to base camp, mosey over to the gift shop to purchase souvenirs or action shots from your tour. Enjoy coach transport back to your departure point in Ketchikan.

I guess with dry ground it is a much different experience, just dusty short and lame. Although everybody was nice and it was organized there was not really much to it. A couple of nice sights but that's about it. Very disappointed and couldn't believe...More

I am terribly sorry to hear we did not meet your expectations here at Adventure Karts. We strive to give the best experience while visiting our beautiful state. Unfortunately, we have had record breaking sunny weather that leaves our trail incredibly dusty, but makes for...More

Not My Favorite

We were traveling on an Alaskan cruise, and this was an excursion we chose. I was not super impressed. The drive was quite short. It was not a good value for the money we spent. The view from the top of the mountain was pretty,...More

2 people in each cart. I don't know if they pair up 2 singletons, but we had a least one single travel in our group so he got a cart all to himself!
