About
Enjoy a rainforest walk and visit a Totem Park on our 3 hour excursion in scenic Ketchikan, Alaska on this small group tour with local guide. Explore the lush green rainforest of Alaska among huge old growth trees and moss blanketing the forest floor.  The remote nature trail follows a cascading creek and we stop at a beautiful waterfall viewing area.  The trail does have some stairs and uphill / downhill portions. Experience natures beauty up close and step into this treasured land on our approximately 1.5 mile hike.  Escape the crowds and take in the fresh air and peacefulness of the forest. We also journey to the Totem Park where your local guide will share stories behind the majestic totem poles and the Alaska Native culture with you.  Our excursions are small groups of 11 guests or less and we include pick up at the cruise ship dock. Wild Wolf Tours is a local family owned business and we love to share our beautiful surroundings with you.

Great tour :)
Aug 2021 • Solo
Great tour. I’ve traveled to Ketchikan multiple times and been on several of the walking tours, and this one is the best. I learned a lot about the culture and environment in Ketchikan from the tour guide Collin, you could point to a plant/totem pole/anything and he could tell you all about it. Very cool. Thought the rainforest hike was beautiful and the totem park on the beach was as well. If you like to learn about and see up close the culture, wildlife, and forests of the places you visit then this is a great tour!!

A true Alaskan experience with a VERY knowledgeable local guide. Could not ask for anything more. Learn about native history, wildlife, and how the cycle of life works in the Tongass National Forest. Our driver was also kind enough to drop us off anywhere we wanted downtown. Even recommended where to eat lunch. Which ended up being the best damn salmon burger I’ve ever had in my life. This has been a life changing experience. Now if I can only talk my wife +7kids into moving here ;)

A very awesome hike in beautiful rainforest
Aug 2021
We didn't see any interesting shore excursions at Ketchikan through our cruise line (Norwegian Encore in August), so we booked this tour through Tripadvisor - and we are glad we did! We got picked up by Tracy at the Ward Cove Pier (where we docked). There were altogether maybe 8 passengers in the van. The totem park we visited was very quiet and picturesque. The hiking trail we went on was pretty awesome - great sceneries everywhere. Our tour guide Tracy is knowledge with a very soothing voice. I only wished the tour were longer! I could definitely spend half a day in the rainforest!

We do pick up at each cruise ship including the new Mill Cruise Ship Dock at Ward Cove where Norwegian ships dock. Our rainforest is amazing and we are so happy you enjoyed your time out there.

Totem Pole/Rainforest Tour
Sep 2021
Tracy was an amazing guide. She is a local and has some amazing stories and folklore tales. She pointed out a bear feeding in the river that we would have totally missed due to in being camouflaged. She is friendly, easy to talk to and very knowledgable. We did the 3 hour totem pole and rainforest tour which was much cheaper than booking through the cruise ship. I highly recommend this tour. You never know what you are going to see !!! (and P.S. she serves an amazing smoked salmon dip!!!).

Had an amazing time! Tracy is extremely knowledgeable of the Ketchikan area and shares so much interesting information. She has a great personality, and I felt she really puts forth the effort to ensure you to have a great tour. I would highly recommend this tour! I learned a lot about Ketchikan! Even got to see a bear which was an added thrill.

Can't stop dreaming about returning!
Jun 2019
I was able to take the 3 Hour Rainforest Walk and Totem Park excursion. Natalie was our group guide (I was solo) and I cannot be more grateful for her knowledge, attention to every detail, and warm personality. Her sense of wonder and excitement to share in the encounter made the trip one of the most special I've ever experienced. I continue to look back at photos taken there and hope to return soon--as soon as I can!

I cannot recommend this excursion highly enough if you are looking to experience the beautiful peace the nature of Ketchikan has to offer in a small group setting. Learning the history and culture of the native Haida, Tlingit, and Tsimshian people was a huge highlight and unforgettable.

Last cruise ship of the year
Oct 2019
We took our tour with Natalie and let me tell you, she is a gem! There were two couples in our group and a single older gentleman from England. Natalie misses nothing, She spends time on the forest trails and notices every nuance as it develops. She kept an eye on her group and showed us the changes of the rain forest as fall set in. Waterfalls make a sound that is good for the soul. We sure enjoyed the post walk snack. No leftovers!!
If you have a chance to take this walk and also go thru the Totem area, do it.
Thanks Natalie for a day we will long remember.

Interesting tour, but not the best tour guide we've had
Sep 2019
My wife and I took the 3 hour Rainforest Walk and Totem Park tour while visiting Ketchikan on a cruise. We've been to Ketchikan before and did a Misty Fjords seaplane tour the last time -- that was an awesome tour, but we wanted to do something different this time. I booked the tour in advance directly with Wild Wolf Tours; I had some initial questions and Tracy was very responsive. I saw some of the great reviews about Tracy before booking the tour, and I think we might have enjoyed it more if she was our guide.

Our tour guide Colin met us right at the pier. There were eight passengers in our group. Colin wasn't very personable or engaging -- as we drove to the rainforest, when Colin narrated it sounded very rehearsed and robotic, and for much of the drive he didn't say anything.

The rainforest walk was beautiful, and we had stops for photos where Colin took our pictures. Most of the walk was flat, but there were some fairly steep inclines, so this isn't for people who have mobility issues or aren't in decent shape. I didn't check the time, but it seemed like the walk was shorter than the advertised 45 minutes.

After the walk Colin offered us water and tasty smoked salmon dip and crackers and showed us some handmade goods. Colin mentioned that his aunt owns the tour company.

The next stop was the Potlatch Totem Park, which is right next to Totem Bight Park but not affiliated with it. Colin seemed a bit more comfortable here, and told us some entertaining stories about the totems and various community houses. Before leaving we had an obligatory 15-minute stop in the gift shop, where Colin served us tasty honey almond cookies. The gift shop had an interesting gun museum, but even so most people were outside at the bus and ready to leave before the 15 minutes was up.

After the totem park visit, we returned to the town, Colin gave us the choice of getting dropped off at the ship or at Creek Street. My wife and I wanted to grab lunch, and Colin said there were more options near the ship, so we got off there, and everyone else went on to Creek Street (we walked there after lunch). Colin recommended Annabelle's for lunch, so we went there -- it was good, but nothing special.

We enjoyed the tour overall, but I think we would have enjoyed it more with a different tour guide. I still recommend the tour, and it's more interesting than some of the options you might book through your ship, especially if you've been to Ketchikan before.

Great Excursion!!
Aug 2019
We visited the Rainforest in late August. We broke into small groups of 13 for our walk through the rainforest with Clara, from Maine, as our guide. Clara was very knowledgable and enthusiastic. Clearly, we were fortunate to have her as our guide. We the various flora of the rainforest, bears, eagles, salmon and a heron. The rainforest tour ended at an old sawmill where Kevin, a local craftsman, was carving a totem pole. Very interesting. Also on the property were many totem poles and a blacksmith who made, among other things, the tools used to carve the totem poles.

WOW
Aug 2019 • Friends
our group of 8 adults had the most amazing tour with Tracy! She went out of her way to make our visit to Ketchikan exceptional. She stopped along the roadside to show us eagles and salmon and took us to a special spot where we were able to see a bear snatching a salmon out of the water!!! Please do yourself a favor and book with Wild wolf! You will not be disappointed!!
