This was a well worth it trip around Ketchikan with a local wh knows the people, the town and the surrounding area both in terms of background and local history as well as great vantage points for photos in the area.. Plus, our guide, Capt. Rob Holston is a really good photographer and even though I've been shooting avidly for over 20 years and have been to photography school, he had some excellent tips I found really useful. Excellent tour if you are going to Ketchakan. If you are interested in learning something about the place and photography, just do it. You won't be sorry.

Be warned, Trip Advisor failed to follow up on our reservation with us and this tour operator. A quick phone call to Rob fixed the problem on Sunday morning so off we went to see Ketchikan. Capt Rob Holston is a local and knows the area well. Forget the junk shops and see some beautiful vistas and hidden gems. As a photographer I appreciated his suggestions and places we went that resulted some beautiful images. My wife had a blast with iPhone camera too. The home made cookies and brewed coffee were great too. Before you order salmon to ship home ask him the fish lady. 5 stars and future repeat customer. Would recommend for friends and family.

You can book this tour directly off our web site @ KetchikanPhotoSafari.com and for the 2022 season we begin serving customers by picking up at the Ward Cove Cruise Ship Terminal as well as downtown Ketchikan cruise ship docks. Ward Cove & Ketchikan customers will have the option of being dropped off at a downtown Ketchikan shopping location OR returned to their cruise ship dock in Ward Cove or downtown Ketchikan.

Wonderful tour with Photo Safari. Great coffee and cookies- a surprise in the morning.

Organized to give the us the a number of different photo opportunities in different settings. My wife and I really enjoyed the tour and would recommend it to anyone- even it they just bring their cell phone camera.

One of the best tours I have had- even counting our food tour in Budapest!

This tour is a must. They say it’s hard to take a bad picture in Alaska… but you should see my albums from trips past. I’m just not the photographer I think I am…. So… I hired a guide to take my wife and I out to some of the most scenic locations around Ketchikan. All we had were our cell phone cameras, but that didn’t matter, because Rob not only got us to some great off-the-beaten path locations, but showed us the angles to use when shooting the photos. The man knows his stuff. I highly recommend this tour over other Ketchikan drive around tours.

We had a delightful time with our tour guide, Rob, who showed us the parts of Ketchikan not many cruisers get to see. I chose this excursion for my photo hobbyist husband, but I ended up enjoying it as much as he did. Every spot Rob took us held superb photo opportunities. One reviewer complained about not learning much about photography. This is not a camera class as much as it is a photo op class with instruction on how to make your photos better, along with interesting stories about Ketchikan. We loved it.

Spend half day with capt Rob exploring Ketchikan hidden gems, while learning photography techniques and getting amazing shots. We saw bald eagles, salmon jumping and seals. Learned camera tips and tricks and had a wonderful time. Capt Rob was knowledgeable and answered all of our questions

Rob did a terrific job as our tour sensei and instructor! He took us to places around Ketchikan that we'd never otherwise see. He gave easy-to-follow photo advice and techniques, geared mainly for smartphone photographers. And he kept us motivated during a persistently rainy day. Captain Rob made everyone feel engaged and welcome, and made time for us to try different photos. And the coffee and cookies were welcome!

May 2022 • Friends
We went on this tour a few days ago. Jeff was so great as a photo guide and educator. We got to see a lot of Ketchikan and outlying areas. Jeff did an amazing job talking about the regions history and current living environment. He helped me take some great shots on my iPhone. This tour was a mix of experienced and inexperienced photographers.
There was a bit of walking but very easy areas to access good views. I left my souvenirs on the bus and Jeff drove back to the pier to give it to me!! :) Thanks Jeff!

This was one of my favorite excursions of our trip to Alaska on a cruise. Felix was so friendly, informative and helpful. He helped me understand my camera and gave me great insight on photo taking at all of the wonderful "off the beaten path" places that he took us. I truly became a better photographer because of this tour. I would recommend it to everyone.

Yes indeed. Our tour is a wonderful way to spend 3 hours in the Ketchikan/Ward Cove area, visiting 7 to 8 separate sites. Learning tips on taking better photos is definitely a bonus. Thank you for your evaluation of Ketchikan Photo Safari and one of our guides, Felix:)

Take the road less traveled with Capt. Rob and crew. He puts you in position and then gives you unique tips on how to execute the photos you later want to show and keep. And as a bonus, he has lived in the area a long time and tells you the story of the place.
