Before we even arrived in Ketchikan, Star was very responsive to questions and changes as they came up (we changed the number of people multiple times and cruise ship port times changed.) she messaged us the morning of the excursion on where to find her. We were the first guests from our cruise ship on the water. As we were headed out to fish, Star processed fishing licenses so we were ready to fish as soon as we arrived at the “spot.” We had 5 people in our group and Star had 4 poles up and running as often as possible. Her main goal was to keep us busy fishing. The boat driver (Anthony, as I recall,) was extremely good at recognizing when a fish was about to pull the line from the downrigger, or if a fish was on, but hadn’t pulled the line free of the down rigger. He also was very knowledgeable on where and how to fish. The 2 of them made an awesome team! We caught 30 salmon in under 3 hours! On the way back to shore, star explained shipping the fish home and gave estimates on how much it would cost and how the process would work. She also air dropped some awesome photos she took of us while we were out. If we make it back to Ketchikan, we would love to go back out with them again!!

Communication was outstanding! We caught a King Salmon and Star made my husband’s birthday so special! We will be back!

This fishing trip was amazing. Star and Anthony were fabulous. Got us out and spot on catching Salmon!! They were fun and personable but professional in helping make our trip a success! We hope to fly in and book with again in the future. You have to go do this! And just a week later we were enjoying our Smoked Salmon here in Texas!!

Alaska Affordable Adventures provided our party of four with the best fishing experience we have ever taken. We booked the six hour salmon fishing charter. We were blessed to have Captain Anthony and Captain Star. Both captains have a plethora of knowledge. Captain Anthony put us at the right spots. We were able to pull in over 25 beautiful Coho and Pinks. When our time was up, we had to get back to our cruise ship. Anthony and Star took care of delivering our beautiful haul to the processor. The fish were processed and shipped overnight to our home in Texas. I truly recommend Alaska Affordable Adventures. You will not be disappointed.

I'm so glad the Viking salmon fishing tour was sold out because we ended up with the best fishing trip and captains! In fact, our best excursion in Alaska was a non-Viking excursion that I booked myself with Alaska Affordable Adventures. We were so lucky to snag both Anthony and Star for our fishing trip because they make one heck of a team. They met us at the dock and we jumped right onto their boat. They hit a pocket of salmon and we were both reeling in fish at the same time! Such a blast. They were great fun to fish with I just wish we had more time with them, I would have gladly given up a couple of the other stops to fish longer with them - perhaps a trip to Ketchikan is in our future. If you are trying to decide whether to do the ship excursion with a group of people all trying to fish or take turns, take a look at Affordable Adventures, you could have a private fishing trip instead. We have some great smoked and filleted salmon in our freezer that will remind us of our trip with Anthony and Star for months to come. Thanks Captains!

Anthony was funny, patient, and a master fishing guide. I have been 10 other guided trips and he was by far the best. Boat was clean and snacks and drinks were provided. We caught a ton of fish and he taught us boating and fishing etiquette while having fun. Will be back.

Anthony was INCREDIBLE!!! This fishing trip was the highlight of our trip in Ketchikan. He took care of all the dirty work so we were able to just have fun and enjoy the thrill of all the fish we were catching! We caught so much salmon!! If you are staying in Ketchikan, you NEED to book him for your fishing trip. He is much more affordable than many of the other fishing trips we considered. We did the Salmon Half Day trip but he offers a few others as well. We all had a blast fishing and Anthony had lots of fun stories. We spent the day laughing and fishing and making memories with the family that we will never forget. Thank you Alaska Affordable Adventures!

Captain Anthony was fantastic. He was extremely accommodating, and did everything he could to maximize our limited time on the water (due to cruise ship schedule). He is very friendly, yet truly a professional, taking care of everything for our party of 4. He was on top of what was biting, and where. Captain Anthony was working his tail off setting up tackle, gaffing fish, unhooking fish, and re-baiting lines for all of us because the fishing was hot! The 4 of us all caught fish, 2 halibut, 5 cod, and 4 rockfish all in just 3-4 hours on the water! The electric reels he provided are awesome for the casual fisherman, really saving a bunch of fatigued arms and letting us all get in more fishing in less time. His communication was great, and he provided us exactly the experience we were looking for. I would highly recommend him if you are looking for a low-key, but well ran fishing excursion while in Ketchikan.

Antony is a great guy. We met him helping a fellow charter boat who was in trouble with their gear. He was friendly, helpful and very informative about fishing and the surrounding area. He wants you to succeed and has a wealth of local knowledge. As he had nothing else on we stayed out for 6 ½ hours! He even took us to see a bald eagle feeding. Hope to enjoy his company again in the future!

We had an absolutely wonderful time on this charter! Anthony is definitely a great guide and had as much fun as we did. He was so excited each time we caught a fish and worked especially hard to make sure we enjoyed ourselves. He was even disappointed we had to go back when we did in order to make it to our cruise ship. He meets you at the pier and it is a very short walk to his boat. When we finished and had dropped off our fish at the processing plant, he docked right by the cruise ships so it was a very short walk back to ours. We will definitely fish with him again. In fact, we are hoping to book a trip in the future that is not a cruise so we can explore the area and spend more time fishing with Anthony. I conducted a lot of research on charters and his was one of the only ones that charges by the person (not by the boat) and only takes your party (he doesn't add others too it). He was definitely the most affordable and made the day so much fun!

Make a full day of it - we did! Captain Anthony will provide you with great memories and lots of fish. We started out early fishing for Halibut & we got Halibut, Cod, and Rick fish before moving on to Salmon fishing & we caught those as well. He kept us fed, hydrated, and fishing until we had what we wanted. We will definitely be recommending him & we will be back 😄

Anthony was a great captain!, Great bloke, very good fisherman with allot of local knowledge. He put us onto a bunch of good salmon, gave us a couple of extra hours and took us further out than allot of the other charters take their clients, we could even hear allot the other charters on the radio catching stuff all. Great value for money and a very authentic Alaskan experience, thanks again mate.

For our Princess Cruise, I reviewed all of the commercialized Ketchikan excursion options for our family of four hoping to find a genuine Alaskan experience. We debated between whale watching, boat tours, and fishing. Then I looked on Trip Advisor for a family owned business that would be more personable and booked a half day fishing charter with Anthony at AAA. Booking was easy and Anthony answered all of our questions prior to the trip. We arrived in Ketchikan, Anthony met us a the dock, we walked straight to his boat, and were the first fishing group to head out. While on the way out we stopped to photograph killer whales and humpback whales before continuing on to the fishing area. During the boat ride out, our kids ate snacks that were stocked on board while Anthony answered all of their Alaskan wildlife questions. Anthony had everything ready to go and kept the lines in the water with Halibut, Rockfish, and Cod until we tagged out on the Halibut and Rockfish. It was clear that Anthony kept up with the local fishing conditions, knew where to be, and what to use. (We later learned other passengers on the ship were not successful in their fishing charters). After our tags were filled, Anthony used our remaining time to check shrimp pots and let our kids throw bait fish to the bald eagles in the area who flew down and grabbed them from the water. We had a great time and couldn't have asked for a better Alaskan experience that checked all the boxes in a half day charter!!!

My new wife and I love this trip. Capt. Anthony put us right on the fish and we limited out while most boats were going back without much and going in early. He kept us out there longer and was a better price by far than anyone else up there. We got our Halibut sent home and I cant wait to taste it.

Visited Ketchikan early April 2019 with family. Tried to contact many charters for a wildlife tour only to get the same response from 95% of charters that they would not be in town during this time... (its not tourist season). Finally came across Anthony and I wish I would have sooner. Anthony is a local who is here year round, not just for the summer. He knows the area and loves what he does. Great captain and very accomodating for my family with 6 and 7yr old girls. We were able to see herring popping, seals, and even had porpoise all around the boat. Couldnt have asked for a better experience and you wont find a better Captain than Anthony. Do yourself a favor and book with a Ketchican local who loves what he does, Captain Anthony.
