- Getaway544440892920 contributionsKKWrote a review that expressed we didn’t get our photos. But now we have them and they are fabulous!! Thank you for the great experience and fun time!Written 4 February 2024
- Kwheatleyiii0 contributionsDidn't get pics we bought but one of the best 12 snorkeling adventures we have doneWas one of the best snorkeling adventures of our 12. Guys were terrific, fish were plentiful. Even had a stingray to touch. Bells fit easily and no problem breathing. Water was amazing. Highly recommend. Only issue was we paid for the photos and have never received. They DO NOT answer emails or messages so we really hate that we don't have the photos to share (or the money). Beware of that as we have seen others who have said same thingWritten 2 February 2024
- Annechad0 contributionsGreat experienceFantastic. Staff looked after us all very well, both on the boat and in the water. Much better than just snorkelling, the fish are really inquisitive and come right up to have a look. Went down about 10 feet, and the walk was appreciated by all - they even have a "house" stingray who also seems to enjoy visitors (us) going down to see he/she. The boat divers take photos, and show them when back on boat. They email orders, mine arrived the next day. Would recommend the tour to anyone reasonably fit. I am 82 and had no problem. I went there from NCL Spirit cruise ship on one of their excursions. Like the shark? Glad it was not real!!Written 6 May 2023
- Resort253102607160 contributionsAVOID AT ALL COST !Being an experienced diver I wanted to « try » this experience ! Trust me, this is the worst dive center I have ever seen! (Yes the guy is touching the ray, which is total absolute RED FLAG!!) They have no clue what respect of marine life is ! The security is really low and … those horrible thing on your head … you look stupid and don’t get any idea of what diving is (but if you really want to try, do it but with another dive center!) Overall experience : terrible !!! Don’t trust the reviews saying it was great … it’s from people that have no clue what diving security is !Written 4 April 2023
- Chuck C0 contributionsA HUGE THRILL FOR ANYONE, ANY AGEThis is a thrilling experience even if you are not a swimmer. I am 78 and my wife is 71. We have done this sort of thing before but this one was really a thriller. The first dive was to a depth of 10 feet. A genius trick was a small mesh bag of bread attached to the front of the helmets. You could squeeze the bag, causing very tiny grains of bread to float out, at which time you would be swarmed with these beautiful tropical. There was also a sting ray who was constantly drifting around us looking for handouts. My wife had an underwater Nikon and I had a GoPro. The terrific guide (who owns the company) also had a GoPro and was taking pictures of everyone. After the first dive, we went to a second location. This dive was to a depth of about 20'. I didn't go on the second dive but my wife did. She was only down about 4-5 minutes because she had some trouble equalizing pressure in her ears. Also, the water at that depth was a little murkier and there weren't any fish that she was able to see right away. After the dives, the guide offered to sell us digital copies of his GoPro pictures which we bought immediately. I actually love it when someone more experienced in the activity takes pictures and makes them available. I highly recommend this tour for fun, excitement and something that is out of the ordinary. I would recommend to the owner, however that, the first dive be longer and delete the second dive or make dives at two locations that are similar in depth. I would however do this dive again in a heartbeat.Written 17 March 2023
- Sweetppp0 contributionsAn experience you shouldn’t miss!I loved my first experience so much that I had to come back! The staff was very friendly as usual, and this time around I did the double dive to double the fun! The two sites are equally beautiful with crystal clear water, colourful tropical fishes, and my friend Chanel the stingray came to greet me again :) Totally recommend this activity if you want to bring out your inner child and want to walk, run and jump around in the water as if you were on the surface of the moon, and surrounded by this magical surrounding!Written 2 February 2023
- William P0 contributionsHelmet Dive in Bora Bora. Fantastic! We had a fantastic experience with Aqua Safari in Bora Bora. Even though the day was gray and rainy, the helmet dive was incredible! The guides were all top notch professionals, my wife was very nervous the day before our dive, even she felt very safe and comfortable the whole time. Our safety divers, Christelle and Tama were great at pointing out interesting things to see and took great photos. Lots of brightly colored fish to see. Highly recommend Aqua Safari Bora Bora!Written 25 January 2023

- Kevin S0 contributionsWonderful experience!Christel and Clive were very very nice during our Aqua helmet dive. Clive picked up us at our hotel right on time. Neither me or my husband had ever done anything like it before but Christel has more than 20 years of experience as a diver so we felt very confident with her. It was amazing to walk on the sand, kneel or turn without any effort. We got to see the coral, admire many kinds of colorful fish up close and even say hi to an intimidating looking eel that was peacefully observing our moves from the reef. It was super cool to be under water and observe the beauty of the Bora Bora marine life. The stingray was super friendly while swimming around and the way she followed Christel like a little kid was priceless!! My wife and I had a very enjoyable experience with the AquaSafari Bora Bora Helmet Dive on January 22, 2025. This very unique event was offered as an excursion option by our cruise ship the Azamara Onward during our stop at Bora Bora French Polynesia. The three person team of Benoit, Manu and Tamu made our 30 minutes under the water safe, fun and memorable! We saw a host of fish and a very friendly stingray. We took many of our own photos but also purchased the complete well done set of 32 pictures they took which were reasonably priced. Highly recommend and would do again!

Isabelle and Tama have been the best guides we have ever had. The experience itself is amazing there are no words to describe. It has been the very best tour in Bora Bora. I would definitely recommend to everyone. You have to do it, it’s a must. Isabelle takes amazing pictures underwater. For only $70 US you keep all the pictures under water that Isabelle takes. We met Channel the sting ray. We saw so many tropical fish we danced underwater, walked underwater. We will definitely do this experience again.

If you aren't certified to dive, this is the next best thing. Thirty minutes under water in a safe area surrounded by exotic fish, stingrays and maybe a special surprise who is hiding. Our host for the dive was delightful, especially in how he connected with the stingray. Granted, he is feeding her, but this doesn't take away from how much she clearly loves him. It was amazing to watch. Tourists are slowing coming back to Bora Bora and this tour really deserves to thrive.
Even though I have given them a five star review, two words of warning. First, don't take the bread out of your pouch. Just shake it and let the fish come to you. The nibbling is amazing. Second, they take amazing underwater pictures, but will ask you to pay $70 to get them. You can take your own photos and video. However, I knew they had been struggling over the past two years, so I felt comfortable paying this add on. I only wish they had told us at the start, rather than sell us at the end. It was a real disappointment after such an amazing experience.

Two days before our tour, they contacted me asking if we were willing to change our time from 8:30 to 10:30. This way we would be more comfortable as we “would be the only guests on board.” I actually preferred the earlier time as we still had jet lag and woke up at 5, but was lured by the “only guests on board” so we agreed to the change. However on the day of our tour, without notice they managed to put in 3 more groups which made up to 9 people. We were the first one to be picked up and had to wait in hot weather for half an hour which wouldn’t have been so bad if it were earlier. I’m fine with a group tour because that was what we paid for, but felt so tricked and very disappointed by their dishonesty.
The tour itself was fun though, especially for kids. We didn’t need to move around much to be surrounded by many fishes and a stingray. Our captain and other guides were very nice and friendly. It’s just sad that this incident during booking turned out to the the only bummer during our amazing Bora Bora trip.

Ia Ora Na,
Thank you for your feedback. We are truly sorry you feel this way. Please rest assured that when we offered you a quieter time slot, we did so with good intentions. However, this alternative tour filled up too, which, as you said, was a possibility considering it was a shared tour. Had we known that you prefered the earlier tour, we could have keep it this way.
Anyways, we are glad you enjoyed the experience dispite this little miscommunication and hope we will have the chance to welcome you again in our little paradise.
All the best from the Aqua Safari team

The Aquatic Safari was incredible! They picked us up from our resort and brought us to the snorkel area. The team was incredibly welcoming, friendly, informative, helpful and we felt very safe and secure. We had a wonderful time. They did a great job at making sure we were ok, entertained, and they took several pictures for us. I highly recommend this excursion if you are visiting Bora Bora.

Great experience! We recommend 100%.
Slight apprehension for my husband at first but once in the water, he loved it.
As the guides say, you have to know how to walk and breathe.
Go pro is allowed. The guides take photos which are offered to us at the end of the experience but there is no pressure to purchase.
We walk in a place limited by ropes. A small piece of bread attached to the diving suit and all the fish come to you. A ray that has its habits there even comes to swim next to you. That's great.

This experience was AWESOME! From the start of the tour to finish, the guides have you covered! They took their time explaining how to do the dive successfully and made sure we were all comfortable before heading in. The water was the perfect temperature as well. Once we put the helmets on and headed under water, the sea just came to life! There were beautiful fish swimming all around us, we saw coral, and the coolest part was this stingray! The lady guide handled the ray soooo well! It was fun watching it swim with her and she would bring it over to all of us to let it swim over our heads or around us. Also loved the little bread in the satchel so the fish could swim around us and be up close and personal. It was so cool! They took photos of our group and a little shark friend visited us as well! All in all, this is a MUST DO activity while visiting Bora Bora! You will not be disappointed!! I wish I would have purchased the photos they took of us underwater so I could share with you all! That is also a must do for a souvenir because they took some AMAZING photos!

Magical! The dive master was so knowledgeable and made us super comfortable even though it was our first time doing this kind of activity. She took tons of awesome pictures we will cherish forever! At the end they had an option to purchase the photos for $70 USD and we got about 40 pictures of this great adventure. Definitely recommend to anyone who wants to see lots of fish in a safe and fun way who is not comfortable scuba diving!

Your safety and comfort are our priority! We are owning Aqua Safari since 2008, and since, we are constantly doing our best to give you the easyest and safe experince as possible! Because most of our divers are beginners, or without any water experience. For most of them, the helmet diving is the first underwater experience, that is why we are taking so many pictures, it's important for us to know that you'll go back home with a maximum of souvenirs!
Thank you very much for your review!

What a cool experience! We didn't want to learn how to scuba dive, and this helmet dive was a perfect replacement. Our dive leader was great, we felt very safe and he took amazing pictures for us. He had an adorable relationship with the stingray, you could tell they were buddies after 5 years of him leading this tour. Helmet has perfect clarity in the water from all angles. It's a little weird to get used to it, but not a problem. If you feel funny, the dive leader is there to help you back up out of the water very quickly and easily. They have a process that easily gets the helmet on your head and gets you into the water even though the helmet is heavy, so don't let that hold you back. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience 😍
The activity is safe and very different. I've already dived with a bottle, I have a star, but walking among the fish, without worrying about a manometer, pressure and everything else that involves diving is also very good 🤩 I highly recommend it 👍

Do you have reservations available for today 130pm?
Written 5 September 2023
We will have two kids with us (2.5 and 5.5 years old). Can my husband and I take turn watching our kids while the other do the 30 min helmet dive?
Written 11 May 2023
Sorry but don't think so. The boat takes passengers on at the dockside then goes out to the dive spot. You then get instructions, get the helmets on and climb down into the ocean for about 30 mins. After the dive it's back onto the boat and sailing back to the dock. That means that if they let you, you would only get 15 mins each which would not be worth it as neither of you would have more than maybe 10 mins or so in the water.
If you are on a cruise as I was, they probably could not arrange it as you want, but if you were staying on the island they may let you go on 2 trips, one after the other if they have consecutive sailings, just charging the full amount for the diver and another amount for the other just as a passenger for each trip. I can't see any way round it. Hope you have a great holiday anyway!!

Hi, Just wondering if anyone has done this attraction that has a level of discomfort with water.... ie not good at swimming and have been afraid of snorkeling because I get panicked. This seems like a much more relaxed alternative. J
Written 6 July 2022
Really, no swimming involved. You climb down a ladder into the water up to your shoulders; they put the helmet on you, and the "helper" diver assists you in getting to the bottom. Then you just basically walk around on the bottom. You can turn your head almost a full 180 degrees with the helmet on. It just sits on your shoulders (the water comes up to maybe just below your chin).

Can we bring our own GoPro underwater camera?
Written 5 June 2022
I saw people with all kinds of cameras. I would have taken our GoPro, but it had suffered water intrusion the day before so was kaput. Note that you are about 10 feet down; you want to confirm that your particular camera is good to that depth

Another question, it states "No heart problems or other serious medical conditions". Is high blood pressure that is controlled with medication okay
Written 25 September 2021
I would of course ask your doctor! But it is a low-stress activity and you can surface at any time should you feel uncomfortable
Written 7 July 2022
Dumb question, but I am older with knee issues. Are there several steps to climb back into the boat?
Written 25 September 2021
There is a ladder that you climb down into the water. In the water, your natural buoyancy will help you get up the first step or so; but at some point, you will need to be able to climb the 2 or 3 steps to get out of the water. Someone can probably assist, but if you are (for example) in a wheelchair this is probably not a good option.
