We went on a two day trip to luxor from AL Qusayr. It was a drive of 3,5 hours but worth it. Arriving there, we met Omar Haridi, our tour guide, who accompanied us for the two days we were there. We could only describe Omar as an example every guide should be. He's someone who doesn't push you to buy things, but actually loves what he is doing, giving information about Ancient Egypt, learning us to read hieroglyphics and he does this with a lot of enthusiasm! He advised us to visit Luxor Temple at night and didn't mind to come with us that evening. Also, because we had some trouble with the heat, Omar was already thinking ahead and started the trip the second day as early as possible. His English is nearly perfect and we had no trouble understanding Omar at all. Thank you for the amazing stories and information and thank you for the delicious sugar cane drink out of a bag!!! Greetings from Holland, Daniel and Sanne (San & Dan)

We visited valley of the kings and 3 of the tombs, plus Hatshpitsut temple. Our driver Mustapher was polite and very attentive to our needs and our guide Nermeen nabil was exceptional, she was friendly , knowledgeable and amusing and catered for all our needs. It was a wonderful day and I would fully recommend it especially if your lucky enough to get Nermeen nabil as your guide . Tomorrow we are off to Abu Simbel as the second day of our tour . If it’s anything like today we are in for a real treat. I can not recommend Egypt tours portal enough , they have been excellent .

Just returned from a fabulous 2-day trip to Luxor.
The journey from Marsa Alam was a lot longer than expected (apparently the tarmac on the direct road had melted so we had to go the long way round) however, it was worth it. We had a private minibus for just the four of us which was comfortable and had good air conditioning. Our driver was excellent although didn’t speak much English. Once we arrived in Luxor we met the wonderful Nermeen. She was a fantastic guide, very friendly, knowledgeable and flexible. It didn’t matter what we asked her, she always had the answer. We stayed overnight at the Sonesta St George which was an unexpected luxury (although it took me some time to work out the ‘intelligent toilet’!!).
On day one we visited Karnak and Luxor temples, day two was Hatshepsut’s temple, Colossi of Memnon and Valley of the Kings. All fantastic and made even better by the commentary from Nermeen.
This was an excellent trip and I would recommend it wholeheartedly.

The tour we took was from our Hotel in Marsa Alam. That does add more travelling time to Luxor (5-6 hrs each way). So you need to break this up over 2 days as we did to ensure you do Luxor justice.

Kamal, our driver was great. Always ready when we returned from the various sites/restaurants.

Nermeen Nabil, our Egyptologist guide was excellent. She struck the right balance between imparting information, advise and giving alone time to explore by ourselves. She also was good taking some memorable family photos.

The overnight stay in Luxor was in St George’s hotel which was very swish. Just a little disappointing their WiFi was limited to the lobby area. But this isn’t meant to be a hotel review!

Luxor, Karnak and Queen Hatshepsut temples are amazing along with the tombs in the Valley of the Kings. All included and a must see.

Definitely pleased we booked this tour and I’d recommend this to anyone.

Overall we had a fantastic time and would definitely recommend this tour company to others! The company booked us very last minute (the night before departure) and was very responsive to us. We were a bit worried about being ripped off since we booked so last minute with an online company but were not disappointed. No scams, fair price and excellent service! We just have some suggestions and bits of information that we wish we’d known in advance:
1) The drive from Marsa Alem is over 6 hours! Our resort was about half an hour south of Marsa Alem so it took us almost 7 hours total, which we weren’t expecting! There is a shorter route but the road is off limits to tourists so you have to drive really far north. From Hurghada the drive is only about 4 hours. We left the resort at around 5:30 am, arrived in Luxor a bit past noon where we picked up our guide and then arrived at our first stop around 12:30. 2) The car is a regular sedan car. It was comfortable and had air-conditioning but we were expecting a private minibus. Also the air-conditioning is only in the front of the car so while the driver was cold, we were still really hot in the back. He was willing to turn it on but he was clearly uncomfortable. 3) Our driver Mahmoud was very friendly but he didn’t speak much English so we couldn’t ask any questions along the way. He also drove very fast which was appreciated since it took so long to get there, but as someone who gets car sick it was a bit rough and I arrived feeling very dizzy. 4) Request a schedule that works for you. The tour company and guide were very responsive and seemed to be quite flexible to our needs but we didn’t realize how hot, tired and hungry we would be upon arrival. We arrived in the heat of the day and went straight to Karnak and were not in the best shape to start an intense tour right away. We would suggest that if you are coming all the way from Marsa Alem to ask that you first do lunch, then hotel check-in to freshen up and then do your tours in the later afternoon and evening.) 5) The evening light show at Karnak was underwhelming. We didn’t think it was worth the 30Euro but it is nice to see it lit up at night. It is basically an audio recording of the history in story form. Our tour guide gave a much better and more historical guide when we visited earlier during the daytime. 6) We stayed at the Steigenburger hotel which was really nice. The breakfast buffet was excellent. Only negative was wifi was extra cost, you might want to ask for a hotel where it’s included if that’s important for you. 7) Our guide was Ayman. He spoke great English and was very friendly and helpful. He is an Egyptologist and provided detailed informative tours of all the attractions. He was very patient with us and made us feel welcome. I’m sure it must be difficult having to repeat the same information to different people every day but we did sometimes hear the same information/story multiple times because he’d forgotten that he’d told us already. We tried to hint that he’d already told us but he didn’t catch on and kept going in great detail. He speaks very loudly which for us was a bit too much at times. We didn’t know how to tell him this without being rude and he was really passionate so we just went with it. 8) The lunch restaurant on the island across the Nile had great food and a beautiful view. They had a caged crocodile and wolves for tourists, which we didn’t like. We would encourage them to release the animals and that future tourists express their distaste of this practice since they only have them there as an attraction for tourists. 9) Do the nighttime carriage ride, you wont regret it! We were skeptical this was a gimmick but read in another review how great this was and we’d have to agree. The city comes to life at night and the ride through the market is a unique experience you can’t get any other way. 10) If you are still early in your trip planning we’d recommend flying to Luxor or Aswan and doing the Nile river cruise and skipping Marsa Alem and the long drive. This tour company has lots of different options and if you tell them your preferences they will be very accommodating and helpful!
