This was the first safari i have ever been on and i couldn't have asked for a better experience!! Our guide was great and very informative. The 2 hours seemed to fly by as we went by all the animals. Definitely check this place out!!

I genuinely was not expecting much in 2 hours and how wrong I was. We were taken on an informative journey across some of the 200 hectares and able to view, up close, happy and healthy looking animals. We saw elephant...to lions....to Emu and giraffes with great commentary from our guide.
The scenery alone is breath-taking...let along seeing so many animals up close.

I would not recommend the game drive - this place is a Zoo!! Lions in a small cage (watch Blood Lion to get educated on this). Crocodiles in a small pen. They have Fellow Deer - which do not belong in Africa. The Wildebeest have been genetically bred so they are tanned (which means they get a better price for hunting). The game driver would not stop for birds - saw a Kori Bustard asked them to stop as it is a pretty cool bird to see, he kept racing along to the lone Hippo, in a small half full swimming aka Dam. If you want to go on a game drive and in the area - rather take the time out and go to Addo (you may not see anything), but it is so much more rewarding when you see animals in their natural habitat! DO NOT SUPPORT THIS ZOO!

My husband and I visited the game reserve in January 2020. From booking in to checking out, our experience was awesome. Heike, Patrick, Nunu and the other ladies were friendly and accommodating. The food was excellent, rooms clean and the views was to die for. We saw all the animals on our game drive. Definitely a place to go to.

Thanks

Confess this was not on our holiday plans but when the forecast was cool and rainy thought we might see plenty of animals. Maybe we had been spoilt at our Eastern Cape game reserves cos we got a much better game drive and 3 course lunch for a similar price paid. This felt like a safari park rather than a game reserve.Vehicle was in poor condition and my wife’s seat seemed broken. Tour guide not particularly informative and seemed more happy to talk to a fellow passenger who sat up front with him. Driver kept on saying couldn’t go there cos he might get stuck. In reality ground wasn’t particularly slippery. As such we only saw the giraffes in the far distance and no sign of the elephants. Seemed to drive past the same zebras many times. The lions were in their enclosure. Only positives from our drive was seeing 2 hipppos and a white rhino. Wished we had kept to our original holiday plans.

The 2 hour drive was one of the highlights of our 2 week South African trip. The beautiful location. The wide open spaces. The knowledgable guide and being able to see the animals up close and personal. Seeing them guaranteed. Recommended x

First of all we had to wait two hours. We booked the drive for 8:30 and they cancelled it for a not believable reason. Then we were sitting in a car which was broken and we were right in front of three rhinos when the engine of the car was off and couldn’t get started again. What you also should know is, that the lions are living in a small fenced area.

Good day, Maike We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused. Unfortunately the ranger had an emergency and was not able to do the 08:30 drive, but the very next one was at 10:00. To our disbelief the vehicle had some battery issues and we are so sorry about this, luckily we were able to swap the vehicle and continue with the drive. The ranger informed us that the rhinos were at a safe distance far away. We hope that you will return in the future and have a much better experience at Plett Game Reserve.

We expected to see lions and giraffes but told there were no lions and giraffes were too far away to find. The trip was just a little over 1hr 30 mins. Extremely expensive for this trip considering most parks are between 85 and 300 Rand per person at the most. Not satisfying at all.

We had a very enjoyable 2 hour Game Drive and was fully aware that there are no predators to see (no lions or cheetahs) - this wasn’t explained at booking but you are told when boarding the vehicle.
The animals you do see - rhino, elephant, hippo, buffalo etc are all excellent and really well explained by the guide.
The buildings and surroundings are all looking a bit tired and have clearly seen better days. With some thought and investment, the reserve could be so much better and even without the predators, a good visit.
