What to expect
  • Meet a driver at the Port Elizabeth cruise port, then make the 45-mile (72-km) trip to Amakhala Game Reserve in an air-conditioned coach. Upon arrival at the game reserve, you’ll be greeted with a welcome drink at Reed Valley, then go over the day’s itinerary and the layout of the park. Watch for some of the park’s remarkable wildlife on the first game drive of the day, enjoying spectacular views across the landscape as you descend into the Bushman’s River Valley. Amakhala Game Reserve is home to 16 species of antelope, as well as buffalo, white rhino, and zebra, and the safari guides will help you spot wildlife throughout the day. Break for a hearty lunch of African cuisine served buffet style, then return to the Bushman’s River for a 45-minute boat cruise that offers an entirely different perspective on the park. In the afternoon, take a second game drive through other parts of the Amakhala Game Reserve, slowly making your way back to the starting point at Reed Valley. Following your second game drive, begin the return trip to Port Elizabeth, where this full-day tour concludes.
