You depart from your hotel in Johannesburg on this culture themed tour heading to Lesedi Culture Village which is a about an hour drive from Johannesburg. You drive through Johannesburg's leafy suburbs travelling through Johannesburg North en-route the Village. As you progress on the trip, you'll realize that now you are leaving the city and heading out of town. This is characterized again with the terrain of the road as you further pull away from the city to a more countryside type of environment. By now you will start to learn about the Zulus and why they like the fighting sticks, the Xhosa with their trademarks blankets and the drums and whistles of the Pedi people just to mention a few. Once at Lesedi the atmosphere changes to a traditional set up where you get to see the homesteads in their traditional set-up. You are split to groups to get a feeling of the diversity in culture with each group getting maximum exposure from the various traditional diversity. You also get to know how much dowry each tribe asks for and of course, this is paid in cows and the day will not be over without a taste a local cuisine. After, you hop back to your tour van and head back to your hotel in Johannesburg.

We did the Lion and Rhino Park tour, and Daniel Clements was our driver. We had a wonderful time, and Daniel was a great driver! Transportation was clean, safe, and efficient. They had a place where you could charge your phone if you had a usb-c, which was nice. 10/10 experience! We didn't feel rushed when we stopped for lunch. He also gave us fun facts while driving to our destination, and we were able to see Nelson Mandela's home. Highly recommend using them for large groups.

          2-legged Hyenas!
We had a day in Joburg, South Africa before joining up with our safari group. In concern for our safety, our hotel (Garden Court Sandton City) set us up with Desmond, a private tour guide with Thuthukani Sandile. Deftly maneuvering traffic, he gave us a rundown on colonial history and resistance and apartheid, weaving personal and cultural stories infused with song and wry humor. He showed us a Joburg of contrasts: wealthy hilltop homes, shanty shacks, downtown office buildings now home to squatters. On the way from Constitution Hill and Mandela House, we saw long queues waiting for school uniforms, pop-up barbers and tailors, and grilled corn stands. This Dickensian collage swirled around us and we heard all about it in Desmond’s deep and wonderful voice describing a world of “2-legged hyenas” and “Johnny Walkers”. Unforgettable.

Up close and personal with Monkeys and Elephants
This was such a cool tour. Very interactive. The monkey sanctuary was alot of fun. Those monkeys are hilarious. They jump on you, you can feed them and they're very playful. The Walk with the Elephants was incredible. Loved loved loved everything about. The guide was great and the trainers were so good and patient. Everyone really got to enjoy their own personal experience. Our driver MK was very nice pointing out interesting spots along the way and giving us the history We really enjoyed him

          Pilanesberg Private Safari
The three private Safaris were amazing. We saw four of the big five with lions walking past, a herd of elephants at the water hole and numerous rhino sightings. The tour guides made the experience memorable.

          Great up close views
Literally couldn't have gotten any closer to the lions (on several occasions) and rhinos (the guide had to move the truck when one got a bit too close. We saw three cheetah, spring box, antelope, wildebeest, buffalo, zebra, ostrich , and so much more. Great facility and good food options at the restaurant. Well worth the short drive from Johannesburg, but note, this isn't an actual safari but rather a curated drive through several separate, gated compounds that the predators from each other. The predators are fed so they don't have to hunt for themselves and the other animals get hay supplements that ensure they bunch together for easy viewing.

Thrilling to be up close to elephants and monkeys
My guide Bobo was magnificent, he could tell me lots of information about Johannesburg and he was lovely company. The tour with the elephants was thrilling and awe inspiring. And the monkeys were such fun, silly and playful like children. The tour guides were brilliant and so pleasant to everyone. Their English was impecable, even their wonderful humor was in perfect words. The knowledge and politeness was very impressive. I loved it! Ten stars

          Excellent Tour by Virgo
Virgio Tours made our trip memorable and exciting. Tour guides Colin and Mike were very knowledgeable, friendly and made sure our group of 24 family and friends had a great time. All arrangements were excellent from pick up at airport, hotel, tours and Kruger Park. We saw the big 5. Thank you Mr Clement for making sure we got all that was on the itinerary.

cool, a beautiful place, with a fun guide. Super attentive and patient driver helped me with all doubts and difficulties, as my English is not good. Thank you for making my trip a pleasant one.

We had a great Virgio private tour of Soweto yesterday — with an excellent guide — so decided to book this tour through them for today. A big mistake! This tour was private only in the sense of the long drive to and from our hotel to Lesedi, and even this was compromised by having another person along for the ride (his presence was never explained and he didn’t say more than two words the whole trip). Our driver/guide was almost as bad — no personality whatsoever and limited command of understandable English. We had been told that we would have a private guide take us through the various Lesedi villages. Instead, we were put in a group of 40 other people. With this many people, you could hardly hear, hardly see, and wasted much time on everything having to be repeated over and over again. The villages themselves were only mildly interesting and the format was way too touristy and hokey. Our driver/guide wandered around with us but never said a word — not a word! We got so turned off by the crunch of people in our group that we aborted the visit after seeing only 2 of the 5 villages. Don’t waste your money on this tour!

We only had about half a day and chose this for that reason. But even if you are in Johannesburg for longer you should fit it in. Its a great cultural experience. Really well presented by authentic local guides, who do a great job explaining the history & makeup of the major tribes of South Africa , their traditions and there way of life. It finishes with a fantastic singing & dancing display. We didn't stay for the lunch, so I can comment on that. A good market with very reasonable prices for some souveniers and such. Our Driver Clements was fantastic, punctual and a very good safe driver with a great vehicle, suitable for transporting 5 adults in comfort. He was fun & informative. This tour is great value & highly recommended.
