We highly recommend this tour or probably any that Shane does. As a native since the 60’s he knows the country well and has experienced the transitions. He loves his home country and this shows thru his stories, experiences and opinions. The tour consisted a tour of Soweto pointing out different things along the way, the Gold Mine Tour at the Gold Reef Park bypassing the kids stuff and the Apartheid Museum. Shane enriched our experience that day and made recommendations on our activities the next day and dinner. We highly recommend Shane and this tour.

I cannot recommend one of Shane’s tours enough! We originally booked this tour because we wanted to see the Cradle of Humankind, but the Rhino and Lion park quickly became our favorite part because of Shane’s enthusiasm and knowledge about the animals. Shane was flexible with the meeting time and the drop off (and gave us a fabulous lunch recommendation) and we really enjoyed our time together. If we had more time in Johannesburg, we would book another tour with Shane.

The day trip was outstanding. The 2 hour surface tour of the Cullinan diamond mine was good , and the little village interesting with great coffee. We saw the major sites of Pretoria with our guide’s stories about growing up there. The Voortrekker Monument and museum were very interesting with Shane’s commentary about the history and displays, and his inside knowledge. Great views from the top. Shane is an excellent guide , very pleasant all day and gave us lots of interesting history, facts and stories about South Africa. The drive passed quickly as he answered our questions. Good value, a highlight of my time in Johannesburg, highly recommended.,

We decided to visit Pretoria and had an enjoyable tour with Shane. We started off at the Voortrekker Monument. It is mostly curated from the Dutch perspective, but there is a lot to see and the collections are very nicely done. Next, we visited a South African military museum. At the Union Buildings, there was a wonderful photo opportunity near the gigantic statue of Nelson Mandela. Shane also took us to the embassy row, and he talked about his role in helping to implement the security of an important building. We ended our tour with a visit to the Loftus Versfeld Stadium. Shane spoke with a security guard who allowed us to view the inside of the stadium, and we took a few pictures. Thank you very much Shane for a memorable tour!

On a business trip and had half a day free before leaving and didn’t want to start the day with a sightseeing sitting several hours in a car and ending it with sitting on a 12 hour flight, hence I sought after a physical activity. I had no experience with mountain biking from before, but Shane (a nice guy by the way) adapted the pace and difficulty, so it suited me perfectly. A South-African winter morning in July was ideal for biking too. Dry and not too warm biking on trails in the wood. The pickup at the hotel was also timely. Next time in South Africa I do hope I have more time upon arrival or when leaving. If so, I’ll go for a full day mountain bike tour with Shane.

We were picked up on time from our apartment for this private tour. Our guide Shane was knowledgeable and pleasantly communicative throughout the tour. Moreover being an animal lover himself, he very passionately showed us around the wildlife park. The second part of the tour highlighted human evolution. This was a day very well spent and we got good insight into local practices and culture.

Punctual pickup, very knowledgeable we learnt a lot about South Africa. He has a passion for his tour guiding and enjoys being with people.

One of the things that I look forward to most when visiting SA is going on one of Shane’s tours. The last time I went on a cultural trip and this time for a round of golf. Shane really knows his golf, seems to know everyone worth knowing, is an absolute gent and to cap it all is great fun to hang out with. Cannot recommend his tours highly enough!

Shane was an excellent guide, very attentive and fun. We went the whole way talking, he is very wise, I learned a lot along the way. I was traveling alone and I was a little scared of taking a tour alone, but Shane, from the moment we met, made me feel safe, and I felt very comfortable, I recommend this tour to everyone, and do it with Shane , this guy is awesome!!

Excellent and informative tour with Shane. Picked us up in the hotel lobby and settled us in right away with discussions on S Africa. Very knowledgeable but also let us ask questions. He had great repoire with locals and we felt safe. A great guide and we highly recommend.

Shane drove all the way to Johannesburg from Pretoria, where he is based, just to host me on a tour back in Pretoria! He's a true lover of South Africa & is unabashedly proud of the culture & landscape of this country, especially so towards his home city of Pretoria. He is very knowledgeable & insightful about the history & background of the city, & is willing to go the extra mile (literally!) to show the beauty of Pretoria through his eyes. I highly recommend going on his Pretoria tours, as well as the other tours he offers for the nature reserves in the country. 10/10!

Maropeng was interesting but seemed more geared toward kids than adults. The lion park was amazing. I got some great photos and videos. Seeing the white lions up close was scary and beautiful.
