About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- GPaCalgary0 contributionsGreat ServiceWe were travelling around South Africa with Kensington Tours. Each ride, to and from airports and to the two Game Reserve Lodges at which we stayed, was with Ilios Travel. Each of the four or five drivers that we encountered, including Abdullah, Connic, Clifford, and Michael, treated us with great respect, and were excellent at their jobs, both as drivers, as well as acting as tour guides while transferring us to each destination. These people are the crème de la crème of their chosen field.Written 30 October 2024
- Staffstyke20 contributionsAn Amazing HolidayIlios Travel provided us with a pick up and drop off service at the airport and three tours - Table Mountain and Cape Town; the Peninsula and the winelands. With the pick ups and drop offs they were excellent, arriving in good time and getting us to our destination in comfort. Special mention must be made to the driver/guide on our three tours, Christopher who was amazing. He went above and beyond what was expected, he problem solved for us when we needed help and provided us with an insight into life in modern South Africa. We cannot sing his praises high enough in what was a truly an amazing trip to South Africa.Written 29 October 2024
- AnnemieC460 contributionsBeautifull experienceEverything well organised, special thanks to Patrick our fantastic driver/guide who picked us up at the airport en who drove us from Durban to the Wetlands and Drakensbergen!Written 19 October 2024
- 283kizzyc0 contributionsHoneymoon Tours - 5 starsWe used Ilios Travel for quite a few services/tours on our honeymoon to Cape Town. All of their staff was always prompt and courteous, and provided us with water bottles on each excursion. We had the same tour guide, Aslam, for 2 days of tours and not only was he very knowledgeable about the history, culture and nature, but he became a friend after all the time spent together. He made our honeymoon adventures truly special and we are so thankful to have connected with him. On the first day, we hiked Table Mountain (in the rain! it snowed that day on top of the mountain) and while we weren't able to make it to the top, we were able to really enjoy our hike and soak in some incredible view of Camps Bay and Lions Head. Our guide, Tiaan, brought us snacks & water, taught us about the animals and vegetation, and tailored our hike to fit our level and desire of fitness. Following the hike, Aslam took us around the city of Cape Town via car, and explained a lot of the nation's history, as well as his own personal anecdotes. On our second day, Aslam drove us to the Cape of Good Hope, making stops along the way. He really let us determine the pace of the day and offered options at every stop. It was absolutely beautiful and maybe on of my favorite days of our entire 2 week honeymoon. On the way back, he offered to take us to Kirstenbosch botanical gardens or Groot Constantia winery. We asked his opinion, and he suggested the winery as the gardens were really not lush during the winter and we had likely already seen all the plants previously. We took his advice, and we had such a fun experience doing the wine and chocolate pairing at Groot! All in all, our time spent with the staff of Ilios Travel was time very well spent. They did not have a cookie cutter tour and really let us determine how we wanted to spend our time. I am so appreciate of Aslam and Tiaan for such memorable experiences!Written 26 September 2024
- U4645QLjulias0 contributionsBrilliant introduction to the Cape PeninsularThis was an excellent day. We took in so much, but at a leisurely pace. Ash, our guide, was extremely knowledgable. He gave us eclectic information on history, geography, geology and nature. Thanks to him we saw a Zebra, a caracal, ostrich and penguins as well as baboons. The drive was stunning and we felt we had had a brilliant introduction to the Cape peninsula. We would definitely recommend Ash as a guide.Written 13 September 2024
- AllyG5200 contributionsSee the animals up closeAmazing experience! The theory of “Rescue, Rehab, Release” appeals to me and seeing the animals up close is so much fun! Our guide was great. Saw 4 of the Big 5 (no leopard) and so many others. Would recommend! Food offerings are delicious and plentiful.Written 10 September 2024
- S1625ULianm0 contributionsGreat staff and ultra reliableIlios were booked by Virgin holidays for all the pick ups and transfers from airports and hotels during our stay in South Africa. Every one was punctual and new comfortable vehicles. 4x4s taking us to safari lodge and new Toyota luxury mini vans around Franschhoek and Cape Town. All drivers were extremely professional and keen to ensure we were comfortable. Absolutely spot on service. I will definitely use Ilios again when in South AfricaWritten 22 August 2024

- Compass459331840340 contributionsUnforgettable Honeymoon Experience with Aslam Benjamin in Cape TownOur honeymoon in Cape Town was significantly enhanced by the expertise and warmth of our guide, Aslam Benjamin. Even though my primary language is Korean, and my command of English might not capture every nuance, the tour with Aslam was nothing short of spectacular. His detailed expositions on the stunning vistas and historical depth of Cape Town were both engaging and accessible, making every moment memorable. What stood out was Aslam’s professionalism - his punctuality and courtesy were impeccable, making us feel respected and valued. His 28 years of experience shone through, providing insights that only a seasoned guide could offer. Both my wife, whose English is somewhat limited, and I found the tour to be incredibly satisfying, thanks to Aslam’s skillful communication and attentiveness to our needs. For Koreans with a reasonable level of English, touring with Aslam promises a uniquely enriching experience. His ability to tailor the tour to accommodate different language proficiencies ensured that we were both comfortable and fully engaged. We are already looking forward to returning to Cape Town for a family trip, hoping to once again have Aslam as our guide. His exceptional guidance makes him highly recommended for anyone seeking a tour that is both informative and considerate of linguistic diversity.Written 19 February 2024
- k9todd0 contributionsFantastic Day Tour with TiaanWe are currently touring South Africa and Ilios are our ground handling agents. So far they have been absolutely excellent. Today we are in Cape Town and have just finished a Day Tour with Tiaan as our guide. Had the most informative and enjoyable day. Tiaan is a great guide and was very caring and so enthusiastic about his country. Couldn’t have packed much more into our day. We’ve come away with a better appreciation of the history and geography of Cape Town and the people. Would definitely recommend a private day tour and ask for Tiaan. You can go at your own pace and ask as many questions as you like. Thank you Tiaan.Written 12 January 2024
- 720gilesr0 contributionsThe ‘Chris’ FactorChris was simply wonderful: open, honest, passionate and a wealth of insights into local culture, challenges and opportunities. Super guide - made a brilliant day so much better. Thank you.Written 19 December 2023
- V8031QKjeffs0 contributionsFantastic tours! Faisal was the best guide! We toured for three days with Faisal and he was absolutely outstanding! Highly knowledgeable, knew the best places to go and the fastest ways to get there. He was also very flexible and allowed us to build and adjust our itinerary on the fly - extremely useful considering the weather in Cape Town can change in an instant! We toured the whole area in Cape Town, down to the Cape of Good Hope, around the city, and then spent a day in the winelands (three days total) and each one was perfect, even when it was raining. Thank you Faisal for an amazing trip!Written 17 December 2023
