- a320mt0 contributionsLook No Further Than Mo Toffar!!We spent the day traveling to Cape Point and Stellenbosch. It was a stunning drive, but what made the tour really special was our guide, Mo Toffar. We couldn't have asked for a more professional, knowledgeable and personable man. We received so much more than a tour. We learned so much about the region around the Cape, the history of its not so glorious past and his experiences growing up during apartheid. He was a journalist and his first hand accounts of the time were mind blowing! Please, if considering a tour look no further than Mr Toffar and Explore the Cape Tours and Safaris. Thank you, Mo!!Written 13 April 2024
- Abbas K0 contributionsBest tour guide - ever!!!Our family (grandparents, siblings, teenagers) all came to Cape Town for a 1 week holiday. Mo was amazing. He was so friendly with the 80+ year old grandfather and lots of fun with the teenagers! He could tell what we would all like to see and adjusted our itinerary accordingly. We have travelled the world and use tour guides often. Without questions, he was the best one we have ever had. If you want to make the most of your trip to Cape Town, this is the person to use!Written 1 April 2022
- lotjed5870 contributionsBEST TOURING IN CAPETOWNMo is a great guy.. You will have the best day touring around with him. He is very friendly, has a good chat and knows the area very well. Besides, he has some great stories to tell you! Would recommend going on a day trip with him if you want to have a good time!!Written 16 December 2021
- rosanbel0 contributionsThe Best Tour GuideMy family and I travel quite frequently, and we could definitely say that Mogammat is one of the best tour guides we’ve ever met. He was friendly and attentive and had interesting stories that will keep you entertained for hours in his arsenal. Aside from being exceptionally knowledgeable and capable, he also exudes the feeling of an individual who genuinely enjoys his work. We didn’t just learn about Cape Town and South Africa, we also experienced the warmth of its people and its culture through him, and what more can you ask for from a tour guide?Written 28 March 2019
- JeremyFu_TW0 contributionsFabulous tour with MoWe had a one day tour with our guide Mogamat (Mo) in Cape Town. And this guy is the perfect one who can give you a very deep introduction of the place, with all his experiences, knowledge, and a great skill of story telling. We very much enjoyed our time and will definitely recommend to people who went to Cape Town. 我們在開普敦跟導遊Mo安排了一天的行程,非常滿意。Mo所擁有的個人經驗加上他對南非歷史過程、文化發展、以及各地狀況的了解,給了我們非常深度的知識之旅。Written 9 March 2019
- LucianaCRAntonik0 contributionsBest tour with the best guideWe had a perfect day, visiting Cape of Good Hope,Boulders Beach, Chapman s Peak Drive. Mo is a great guide: great knowledge about history! He, also, shared lot of funny stories with us (he should write a book someday!) It was perfect!Written 28 January 2019
- jollyjoyce0 contributionsExcellent Grand Slam Tour with MoWe booked a full day Grand Slam Tour with Mo. From the time we booked until the day of the tour Mo could not have been more helpful. He picked us up from our hotel at the designated time and we went along the Atlantic Seaboard via Clifton, Maiden's Cove...with lovely view of Camps Bay and 12 Apostles Mountains. The drive along the Chapman's Peak road was amazing and should not be missed. We then headed for Cape Point and Cape of Good Hope for sightseeing. We went up the Funicular Railway and walked up to the Lighthouse. Along the way we saw Baboons, Zebra , Emus and various other wildlife. We skipped the Penguins at Boulder's Beach as we have seen Penguins before and there was so much else to do !! We drove along False Bay Coastland to Stellenbosch where we had a wine tasting and lunch..at Delheim Estate...very good too.We also did another wine tasting at another good winery. It was then back to Cape Town the scenic route. We can not recommend Mo highly enough. Mo was kind, thoughtful, flexible and very very knowledgeable. We certainly learned a lot from him about S.A and its history. Thank you Mo for a wonderful day which was the highlight of our visit to Cape TownWritten 24 January 2019
- HelgeR790 contributionsA fantastic guide and a unique experiense in Cape TownMogamat Toffar is a very good and uniqe guide. His knowledge of South Africa's history and culture was an inspiration to us all. He shared stories with us, which was both inspiring and gave us a good grasp of the South African society. He took us to the Panthera Africa a few hours drive north of Cape Town to see a "Big Cat" Animal Park. The next day he took us to the famous Vine districts off Cape Town. His knowledge and experience with the various vineyards was unique. We ended up with the best places and the best wines right away. It was exciting and inspiring to get to know the Mogamat and we give him our best recommendations.Written 13 January 2019
- Alinamsz0 contributionsFull filled last day tourThe trip to the Cape over the Ostrich farm and back over the Chapmans Peak was awesome with Mogamat. We were 4 persons, everyone was interested in something else,so we figured it out with him over WhatsApp - just the day before! We were lucky and met him on the streets the other day and when we texted him spontaneously his only interest was to plan the tour after our visions and expectations - just great. While we were driving he told us a lot about the history of Cape Town and it's parts. Where ever we wanted to get off to get a better look around, we did. It was a really nice atmosphere and good weather! I would highly recommend his tours and deals when you are a little group! Thanks again!Written 6 January 2019
- andaciurezu50 contributionsNot only a guide - a friend. One I shall never forget.Though I had journeyed through and around the world in my younger years, this trip --South Africa-- was my first time venturing outside the comfort of my home in a place until then unknown all by myself.I wasn't prepared. I didn't know how to go on about it; reckless by nature, I thought I wouldn't need anyone to guide me through this unique journey. I was convinced that I could make it alone, by myself. Truth is, I probably could've. But then came a friend who told me I should probably -at the very least- consider taking a look at private guides. And it was the best decision I could've taken. I stayed in South Africa for a week and a half; Mo ''Toffar'' was the guide I chose to accompany me through my adventures. Where can I begin? Not only was he an impeccable guide - showing me around, teaching me about the history, the nature, the culture of the areas we visited - he grew, in time, to become a friend; one I'll never forget, one I'll forever hold a tender memory for when thinking of my time in South Africa.Flexible and eager to be impromptu with our itinerary, he never hesitated to stop here and there, for me to voraciously feed not only my passion for photography but also, and mostly, my innate curiosity. There truly is no one else I would ever recommend. The only downside I ever felt was when thinking that I'd likely not get to have the privilege of meeting someone as passionate, kind, humble, positive and caring as he was, when I will travel to other countries. If you open your heart and soul just a little bit, Mo not only will be your guide - he will become your friend, a friend you'll forever treasure.Written 25 September 2018
- 0 contributionsA 5 star tour guide for a 5 star cityWe took a day tour around the Cape in September 2018 - it was our family’s first time in this area. Our tour took us around the coastline, through the mountains, down to Cape Point, penguin beach, Simonstown... and much more. The ending at Constantia (Steenburg winery) was a perfect ending. Cape Town is a five star location... it speaks for itself, and any review I wrote couldn’t do it justice. What you need to know though - is the quality of our tour guide - Mo. I’ve been on a number of tours around the world, and this guy is a diamond in a mountain of coal. I ask a lot of questions, geographical, geological, political and flora & fauna. There wasn’t a single question I asked the whole day that Mo didn’t have a detailed response for. His background as a journalist for a Cape Town independent newspaper makes him an encyclopedia for the city, he knows the ins and outs of this place like the back of his hand. Make sure you ask him about the history of the ‘bridge to nowhere’ and ex Greek Fish & Chip shop. Mo is also great with kids, we have a 9 and a 6 year old that also don’t shut up, he stopped off at a couple of places that he knew the kids would love. Would highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting Cape Town - five stars from me.Written 14 September 2018
- littleweefish4u0 contributionsAmazing Cape Tour!!My name is Maria and my mother (Riza) and I travelled to Cape Town about a month ago and I am delighted today to write to you about our overall unforgettable experience!! I would like to especially mention our tour guide, (Mogamat Toffar), we called him Moe, his service and high level of professionalism was impeccable from start to finish! His knowledge of Table Mountain, the Penisular, the city, the history of Cape Town was truly fascinating and we learnt a lot from him! In particular our favourite tour was Stellenbosch, Moe took us to two beautiful wineries, Thelema and Lazenrac, where my mother and I were blown away by the wine, chocolates and overall tasting flavours we didn’t know existed! The small town in Stellenbosh was awesome, mum and I purchased two rare stone rings that we will treasure forever. Stellenbosch was simply beautiful and we will most definitely return!! Thank you Moe so much for everything! I will be recommending you to my fellow travelers, Take care, Kind regards, Maria Helena HowellWritten 2 September 2018
- Catinka20 contributionstouring the CapeI had the most remarkable tour with Mogamat T, Owner of Explore the Cape Tours & Safaris . Not only everything was perfect, but I felt, in every instance, he truly cared about me; We attended a Sunday morning church service - Mogamat took me on a township tour - he even fulfilled my very "demanding" expectations - he really did his best to make my trip memorable. Being a well-traveled lady touring with Mogamat definitely was the most eye-opening, adventurous, and stunning journey which I will remember, draw upon, and cherish for many years to come. Thank you Mogamat - I definitely will be back!Written 10 May 2018
- mike s0 contributionsInto AfricaMy wife and I recently returned from a dream vacation to South Africa. We flew into Capetown where we were fortunate to have a wonderful tour guide named Mogamet Toffar. Our 2 days of sightseeing with Mogamet was amazing as was his knowledge of history, local lore and enthusiasm for his country. We recommend this individual to anyone and everyone who visits the Greater Capetown area. Thank you so much.Written 13 November 2014

We had a fantastic time touring Cape Town, Franschhoek and Stellenbosch. Our family had a memorable time in South Africa because we had an excellent and fantastic tour guide, Mr Mogamat Toffa. He was exceptionally knowledgeable, sharing fascinating insights and first-hand experience about the history, culture, and landmarks we visited. What stood out the most was his flexibility—he adapted our itinerary seamlessly to fit our schedule and preferences, ensuring we got the most out of our time. Mr Mogamat also went above and beyond by recommending fantastic places to visit, like the Heart of Cape Town Museum, which perfectly aligned with our interests. Thank you very much, Mr Mogamat. Till we meet again! Sincerely, Latifah, Nadia, Fara, and Kieran.

What a wonderful I shared with this beautiful family led by Raja Latifah. It was a real pleasure to host Malaysians again after a lull of almost four years. Our flexibility sets us apart from our competitors and we appreciate your great feedback. Looking forward to your next tour... Thank you and enjoy your travels!

We had a most serendipitous day in Cape Town! Our cruise line had canceled our Stellenbosch tour but failed to notify us. While trying to straighten this out we missed the only other tour to the winelands. How fortunate for us! At the pier we fell into the very capable hands of Mogamat Toffar who customized a perfect tour of Stellenbosch and Franschoek, including shopping, a stunning lunch at Delaire Graff, more wine tasting at Haute Cabriere and lots of sightseeing and excellent, well-informed conversation in between. Mo’s deep personal history with Cape Town and South Africa, his mature insights and knowledge and his ease of conversation made him the perfect guide for us. He steered us to the best and we asked him to join us for lunch so we could continue our talks about current culture and society while reflecting on history. Our day with Mo was a highlight of our 8 week trip. Very highly recommended.

I traveled from Los Angeles to Cape Town in late September, 2014. My friend and I were so lucky to have Mr. Mogamat as our tour guide to the winelands. We arrived as a tour group but later were divided into smaller offshoot groups and went on separate extended tours.
We later found out that the attractions and restaurants that Mr. Mogamat took us to were far superior and more interesting than what our fellow tour members experienced with their tour guide.
We visited the largest winery in the world and ate a superb and reasonably priced lunch at the new beautiful resort of the famed owner of Virgin Airways. The food, service, and ambiance of this restaurant would rival any top rated restaurant in Los Angeles!
Most of all, Mr Mogamat's integrity, superb service, professionalism, intellect, knowledge, kindness and patience is what made our trip so special.
I realized after Mr Mogamat dropped us off at our hotel that I had misplaced my prescription pills in my cosmetic bag somewhere along our tour route. The next day Mr Mogamat went out of his way and located my lost bag at one of the far away wineries we had visited and arranged for it to be delivered to my hotel. He could have easily dismissed my bag as being "lost."
I cannot say enough good things about him! I must add that he was born and raised in Cape Town and told us many interesting stories and insights of the area that only a native born could tell. We learned so much from him!!

Cape Town it is. That's where we are going, Mom said.
And here we are. Surrounded by the sheer majestic beauty of a place that produced Charlize Theron and the great Nelson Mandela.
Of course there's the famed Table Mountain, its image on just about every postcard. And then there's Stellanbosch, Cape Point, Simon's Town, Cape Anguillas, where the mighty Indian ocean meets the Atlantic. On a clear day, and if you're lucky enough, you can see a distinct line, separating the blues.
The Cape Malays have been here for centuries, forming a distinct culture of its own. Our guide, Mr Mogamet,a 7th generation Capetonian speaks a language peppered with Dutch German and Malay words.
He lived through the apartheid. He was young then, but he remembered the injustice, the horror, the privileges the privileged ones had, just because they could. Simply for being born in the right colour.
From Struusbaai to Stellanbosch, from Vineyards to valleys, Cape Town is steeped in history and culture. From colorful ethnic headscarves to hijabs, the sheer diversity of this city is amazing. There are moments, foliage, landscapes reminiscent of Rome, Provence, Naples, Wisconsin, Seattle etc.
The World in one city. 4 seasons in a day. Bluest skies, hues of turquoise and sapphires. Delicious cuisine, beautiful people.
This is just the beginning of my love affair with Africa. God-willing, I'll be back. Kenya? Ivory Coast? Botswana?
A big thank you for taking such great care of us. I am already missing Cape Town.

We are so happy to have met Mo and explore South Africa and Cape Town with him. He has such an interesting, personal history while sharing the history and present time of Cape Town. He is fun, funny, so knowledgeable and agreeable to be with during this once in a lifetime trip. We went on five days of tours with him and loved each and every day. My husband and I said this trip was MOST enhanced by being with Mo. Thank you Mo and we hope to return with all our boys!

Do you have a half day tour of the cape point area without the wine land tour? Just concerned that is a lot of time in the car. We are a family of 5 staying in city center.
