Fantastic day out on the Cape
We had a fabulous day out with Ian, visiting the lovely Cape Peninsula. He picked us up promptly at our Cape Town hotel, then we drive down the peninsula, taking in beautiful photo stops on the way, a visit to Simonstown to see the penguins at Boulders Bay (and to visit our friend's dad who has a toy museum), to the Cape of Good Hope, and back with a stop off at a great winery in Constantia for lunch and some tastings. We had very comfy and roomy transport, all kept on time and never felt rushed, just very relaxed with lots of lovely scenery, nice friendly chat, and lots of laughs. A great day out we will remember for a long time. I highly recommend African Moon Adventures. Thankyou again Ian!

Ian was a great tour guide, very relaxed, knowledgeable and took us to nice places during the tour. He fitted the tour exactly to our interests and gave the right amount of details during explanations. I can’t think of any improvement. Highly recommended!

Unbelievable sites, wildlife and local education with Ian
My family had an amazing two days with Ian touring and learning about the beauty of South Africa! The sites were breathtaking, and Ian knew the best scenic routes to let us enjoy the ride as well. We got to see everything with what felt like a true VIP tour. The tour included my husband and myself, and our 21 and 7 year old son and daughter. One day one we visited the Cape of Good Hope, saw the Penguins at Boulders Beach, and saw awesome wildlife - ostriches in the wild and also on a cool ostrich farm! On day 2 we visited gorgeous local farms including two wine tastings on gorgeous properties. All of the sites, the restaurants, and even the van itself was top notch and felt very premium. We will always remember this visit!

          Amazing tour by Ian!
We had the pleasure of spending two days exploring local wine farms with Ian, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience. Ian’s knowledge of the wine region is exceptional, and he guided us through each vineyard with a perfect balance of fun and insight. His stories about the wines, the history of the area, and the people behind the farms really brought everything to life. Not only did we learn a lot about wine, but Ian also made sure we had plenty of laughs along the way. His humor and easygoing nature kept the atmosphere light and enjoyable, making each stop something to look forward to. If you're a wine lover or just looking for a unique way to explore the region, I highly recommend booking a tour with Ian. You’ll not only discover amazing wines but also have a memorable, entertaining experience.

          A perfect tour from Capetown
A huge thanks to Ian for an absolutely fabulous day! We couldn't have had a more perfect ending to our visit in S. Africa. Ian had a wonderful day planned for us and ever minute was a delight. We strolled the gardens, drank some wine, saw incredible scenery, visited quaint/charming villages and truly enjoyed his stories. If you get to CapeTown, call Ian for a spectacular tour with him.

          Holiday of a lifetime
Just back from a wonderful holiday in South Africa made all the more special by African Moon Adventures run by Ian. We went on two private tours, Cape Point, Boulders Beach penguins and brewery tour and West Coast Safari, olive and beer and wine tasting tour. Ian, our tour guide, was very professional, punctual, knowledgeable, friendly and very accommodating, he tailored the tour to suit us. He also gave us plenty of time to take in the sights and take photos, he also took photos for us (much better than our photos!!!). We would definitely recommend Ian and African Moon Adventures for helping us to make memories to last a lifetime.

Fabulous tour! Private and personalized with an Excellent and knowledgeable tour guide,
We thoroughly enjoyed this full day private tour with 3 couples. Ian was an excellent and knowledgeable tour guide and gave us an awesome tour of the Cape Town peninsula. We all loved the penguin colony and the Cape of Good Hope and lighthouse. Ian personalized the tour for what we wanted to see and had an excellent agenda with a stop at a historic bakery for coffee and croissants as well as a stop for a delicious lunch. I can’t say enough good things and highly recommend this fun, personalized, and private full day tour!

Amazing day trips with a local expert!
We booked 2 days of tours with Ian and African Moon Adventures earlier this month (August 2024). We are so happy that we found Ian as he was super helpful ahead of our trip to carefully plan 2 days of sightseeing around Cape Town with our family of 4 adults and 3 young kids. On the day of our excursions, Ian picked us up in advance of our departure time with a very clean and comfortable van for our tours. The first day, Ian took us all around the Peninsula, stopping at a charming town to grab coffee and breakfast and visit seals up close! We then traveled to Boulders Beach to see the Penguins and then to the Cape of Good Hope. Afterwards, he organized an amazing lunch for us before taking us a beautiful drive through Chapman's Peak. On day 2, Ian took us to the V&A Waterfront and toured wine country. Thanks for the amazing recommendations, as we drank and ate so well before dropping us off with our luggage at our hotel in Franschhoek. Ian was a great guide and we learned so much about the local culture of South Africa and the area surroundings thanks to him. Highly recommend you book with Ian!

Amazing tour of the Cape with Ian
Ian was timely, provided great information about the Cape and our focal points, and was attentive to our needs. The itinerary Ian put together covering the Cape of Good Hope, Boulders Beach, the drive along Hout Bay and the coast along with Chapman’s Peak, and the relaxed afternoon wine tasting in the quiet countryside at Buitenverwachting Wine Farm is a nice, full day. Ian also assisted with dining recommendations and reservations. 5* for sure.

Simply the best way to see South Africa!
Ian was recommended by a friend on our recent world cruise. We are so glad that we followed his advice!! Ian responded quickly to our request and set up our Cape Point tour. He kept us updated prior to our arrival and was waiting for us on the dock when we arrived. What followed was an amazing tour of Cape Town and Cape Point, and all the areas in between. Ian was very friendly, quite informative, and very willing to make changes in the basic itinerary, if we saw something that looked interesting. I cannot say enough about how comfortable he made us feel. We had a beautiful sunny day, and the various stops along viewpoints were simply magnificent. Our adventures at Cape Point, Boulder Beach, the winery and everywhere else made it a trip to remember. Ian didn’t just take us to an attraction and drop us off, he accompanied us the entire time, providing additional color and insight into the beautiful sites we were seeing. I cannot offer enough superlatives for his professionalism, quality of service and friendliness. If you want an African adventure to remember, contact Ian at African Moon Adventures..

          Fantastic Private Tour
My family and I had a fabulous private tour with Ian! He picked us up at our hotel and we spent the day seeing the incredible sights at the Cape of Good Hope, Cape Point, an Ostrich Farm, and the highlight of our trip- Boulders Beach Penguin Colony! Ian is an absolute pro! He was wonderful in helping to plan the itinerary and answering all of my questions and emails right away. He designed the perfect itinerary to make sure we saw as much as we could and had wonderful recommendations for food, photo stops and little extras along the way! He was always happy to take pictures for us. He even went out of his way to deliver the souvenir our 3 year old left in the van to our hotel the next day! If you are in Capetown- I cannot recommend Ian highly enough!!! Thank you so much for a truly memorable tour!!!

Marvellous private day tour in Cape Town
We had a marvellous 10 hour cruise with Ian! While we were planning our post-cruise 2-day stay in CapeTown, he took the time to understand our needs (2 older couples with some physical limitations) and was available to answer our questions and to propose different options to make the most of our too short stay in Cape Town. Being himself a well travelled person, he knew how to make everything easy for us: punctual, knowledgeable, very pleasant person, he shared generously his life experience in Cape Town and managed everything smoothly… no waste of time, no rush, just Athena perfect planning for us! Ian is a very professional and generous guide. We felt that he wanted us to be 100% satisfied with our tour. Thanks Ian! P.S. And his van was comfortable and clean!

Fabulous Tour with a fabulous tour guide
Fabulous tour conducted by Ian - he's so knowledgeable and passionate about his business. Don't bother using any other Cape Town Tour company as this guy is the best! He collected is from our apartment and we went on to see Cape Point, Boulders Beach (the penguin colony) and finished off with a wine tasting session + a load of other sightseeing stuff. Was always happy to do impromptu stops for additional photos & willingly took group photo shots of our party. Followed up by posting loads of photos of our brilliant day on Facebook & provided us with lots of recommendations of where to eat, drink and additional places to visit. Ian conjured up a sensational day for us. Thanks so much.

We had the pleasure of touring with Ian on the final day of our South African holiday. I contacted him early in our planning process and he was extremely prompt in his responses. We decided to do the west coast tour and visited the game reserve as well as on olive farm with tastings. We enjoyed the game reserve and did see lots of animals- the rhinos are apparently not always easy to find on the drive but were up close and "posed" for photos during our drive. We have done wine tastings in the past but never olive tastings and that was different and really enjoyable. We never knew that there were so many olive products available, sweet and savory as well as oils, and some had to come home with us :). Ian was a fount of information and we enjoyed talking with him about so many different subjects. He recommended a great lunch place with an amazing view of the coast and Table Mountain and then ended the day with dropping us off at the airport.
We highly recommend Ian of African Moon Adventures

We had a fantastic time with Ian who provided a unique experience using his many years of tour guiding knowledge He went above and beyond with information and recommendations on places to go, picking us up and dropping us off exactly where we were staying.

It was unique because we had wildlife safari drives, an olive tasting experience (with wine!), a beer experience and also a vineyard wine tasting - you won’t find any tour like this in the Western Cape!

Ian was friendly and very helpful but never too much in his guiding style - highly recommended for any of your touring needs while visiting Cape Town and the area. His 8 seater van was immaculate and chilled water was provided - the mic and speakers made it easy to hear his comments on the move. USB points and power bank if you need them.

Our tour with Ian surpassed all our expectations!

Though our group booked separately, he contacted us directly and was able to accommodate all 5 of us to go together.

Ian was right on time to pick us up at our hotel. He explained our itinerary on way to the Buffelsfontein Game and Reserve, about an hour north of Cape Town as well as a little history lesson.

If you are limited on time and can’t go into the bush for a couple of days, this is your tour! After a few hours, we continue our journey to the Olive tasting. A fabulous facility and amazingly delicious. I suggest you buy a bottle of white wine during the tasting.

The brewery has great beer and good food. And the wine tasting was excellent as well.

We then took a scenic trip along the beach on our way back to hotel. It’s a long day but well worth it. Ian is a class act and I highly recommend his services!

Fantastic experience! We just had an amazing day in South Africa with our tour guide Ian, African Moon Adventures. About an hour after being picked up at the waterfront we were on safari hunting the African big five. We spotted so many species including snakes, giraffes, buffalo, lions, jaguar, ostrich, springbok, bison, wild beasts….the list goes on. Then we set off on a locals tour of the area, olives, toffees, wines, beer etc off the beaten track from the usual tourist attractions which I loved! Ian was fantastic at adapting the trip slightly for us, being white wine drinkers, he took us to GROOTE POST vineyard for a larger variety in white wine. Nothing was a rush at all. Ian even stopped along the coastline for photographs for us with table mountain in the background and kite surfers a tad closer. Highly recommend 💞

We went with another couple on the Wildlife, Beer, and Olive Tour with Ian. He picked us up at the cruise port on the last day of our cruise which ended in South Africa. His vehicle was roomy and comfortable enough for all of us fit along with our luggage.

He took us to a beautiful beach just outside of Cape Town—a great photo-op with fabulous views of the beach and Table Mountain. Next, we went to Buffelsfontein Game and Nature Reserve. It was our first experience seeing the wild animals in South Africa and we even got to see a black leopard! We then went to Darling Olives for tastings of delicious olive oils, olive paste, and some terrific South African wines. We’d never done an olive oil tasting before, and it was a very pleasant experience. After that, we went to Darling Brew for craft brew tastings and lunch. Both were wonderful. We visited with Ian at lunch, as well as along the way. He’s an interesting and knowledgeable tour guide, easy to talk to. We ended our tour at Darling Sweets for a taste of homemade toffee. They were so good that we bought some for there trip home.

Ian was kind enough to drop us at our hotel, and our friends at the airport which saved each of us an Uber ride. It was a great day!
If you’re looking for a tour with a variety of fun places to go, go with Ian—highly recommended!

What an an amazing day out with Ian.

We started out at the game reserve and saw the amazing wildlife then went on to do both wine and bear tasting with a brief trip to the toffee factory. Great value for money and Ian was lovely and very knowledgeable about SA and all it has to offer.

If you are looking for a fun packed day with activities then this is the tour for you.

A reliable and professional service. I would definitely recommend.

My friend and I had an amazing day with Ian! Started off at Buffelfonstein and learned about the reserve and South African wildlife. We proceeded to olive tasting which was very informative then lunch at the local brewery. Great way to start our week in Cape Town and would certainly do it again! You won't be disappointed- thank you again, Ian!

We had such a great day with Ian. This tour is all encompassing with the game reserve, olive and wine tasting. Everywhere we went was quaint & everyone we encountered was knowledgeable and friendly.
Ian picked us up on time and provided us with blankets and water. His van was very comfortable and clean and he was funny and entertaining all day.
If your itinerary doesn’t allot time for a safari, make this your priority. Even if you do have the time, book Ian for the wine and olive tasting - you won’t regret it!

Thank you Erin for such a lovely review. Always nice to get feedback like this. Just remember that without nice people like you guys on tour it’s less fun. The day did start a little chilly but at least it warmed up nicely. Thanks again for booking.

We were picked up on time (big bonus point). Ian was very informative about the area we were travelling through. The safari park, although small, had plenty of animals and we saw most of them. To see ostrich on the lawn while having coffee was fab!
Now I hate olives and having said that I thoroughly enjoyed the olive tasting. Still don't like olives but tried everything, who knew you could make jam with olives! I did end up buying the olive body butter. The wine tasting was good.
Next we had lunch at a micro brewery, excellent beer and you could buy four tasters which meant you could try all the different ones.
Ian was very informative, didn't rush any one and we had a fantastic day. Small tours is the way to go.
Would highly recommend Ian and this tour.

Thank you for the lovely long review. Glad you had a good day up the West Coast. Sorry about the olives but as I mentioned to Andrew, I hated olives and now I looove them so there is hope for you too. Trust you guys will visit the Cape one day soon again.
