The small air conditioned vehicle with your English speaking driver guide will pick you up at your centrally located hotel before heading North towards the scenic winelands for a cellar tour and a cheese and wine tasting.
We make our way to Paarl and then onto Franschhoek with a photo stop at the Groot Drakenstein Prison where Nelson Mandela was released in Feb 1990.
The picturesque village of Franschhoek is surrounded by magnificent mountains and vineyards. After a short drive through the town, a second wine tasting will take place in Franschhoek, followed by a lunch stop (lunch for own account), and maybe a chance to try some of the fresh trout that Franschhoek is known for. Your guide will point out various places you can enjoy lunch or shop for souvenirs (own account).
After lunch the tour continues along a scenic route to Stellenbosch. It is easy to understand why Simon van der Stel decided to settle a village amoungst the mountains. The backdrop of the Hottentots Holland Mountains, the white gabled Cape Dutch homesteads and the oak lined streets and lanes all blend in to give this place a charm that will not be forgotten. Your guide will tell you all about the fascinating history and share his knowledge of wines.
