- Hayleytravels30 contributionsA very well guided and personal experienceI contacted Stuart at Wild things Africa and he was very efficient in organising our hike. He was personal and called us to talk through our walk etc. Rob was our guide for the day and explained everywhere we were going throughout. There was times that included a bit rock climbing, scrambling and made us feel safe. Rob was so easy to get a long with and my parter ended up proposing to me (unexpectedly) and Rob sneakily took us to the perfect spot for my partner to do so and captured every moment! We went with Rob to lions head the next day and again, was on top form, giving us information. I would highly recommend wild things Africa and will certainly be joining them again when we come back to visit 😊Written 19 July 2024

- georgyt950 contributionsGreat challenge up the mountain!Great hike with a great guide! We had a perfect weather for the day. The hike is quite challenging as it is quite steep. The guide was very friendly and helpful in explaining more about the Table MountainWritten 11 March 2024
- 624juhik0 contributionsIncredible experience! Beautiful, challenging and fun!I had the BEST time on this hike. I did the India Venster trail which was really fun. It was a really diverse trail which made the journey to the top beautiful, engaging, breathtaking and with some interesting challenges. I would highly recommend Rob, he’s extremely knowledgable and kind. It was great to have him alongside as a friend and helpful as a coach to know the best ways to climb the mountain and the rocks (foot and hand placement etc). I hve so many amazing pictures and videos from the trail, it was honestly such a fun experience! Make sure you take lots of water with you!Written 21 December 2023

- Ston3cutter0 contributionsA very nice hike with a very nice guide! We did the Lion's Head sunset hike with guide Rob and it was really an amazing experience! Rob was very funny and gave us lots of information about the hike and nature in general. He made the hike a very safe experience and adapted it to our needs. On the top he showed us all the good photo spots and took photos of us. He also had head torches for us, as it got dark quite fast when going down after the sunset. As a bonus, Rob picked us up and dropped us off at our hotel in Cape Town. I would definitly do another tour with Wild Things Outdoor!Written 26 October 2023
- J8582MRsarahb0 contributionsAdventures at Table MountainThank you Rob for this unforgettable hike at India Venster. I didn't want to hike alone on Table Mountain, so I booked a tour by wild things outdoor. I didn't regret it for a second. The communication in advance was super easy. The pace was always adapted and in the difficult parts he explained everything to me in detail. We had a lot of fun discovering geology, the rocks and cracks. Rob always has coffee with him for the summit and knows the best places for it. I can only recommend the tours and would do it again at any time.Written 1 August 2023

- kevinf6650 contributionsCape Town city tour and Peninsula tour.Stu Coffey is an excellent guide, very personable. He is passionate about what he does. Would highly recommend. His knowledge of the history, culture, flora, and fauna is impressive. He tailors the tour to what you want to do, or are capable of doing. City tour hit all the highlights, plus went up the gondola to top of Table Mountain. An excellent walk around the top with Stu explaining the flora and fauna. Walking tour through city. Lunch at a home in the Bo Kaap area for Malay cuisine. Peninsula tour was the best! We love the coast and nature, so the drive along the beautiful coastline was amazing. Stopped in many places along the route. Saw wild ostrich, elands, and my favorite—PENGUINS! Excellent seafood lunch in Simonstown. A full day.Written 16 September 2021

- GjMart080 contributionsWTO General Feedback (Joined Multiple Tours)I was referred to Wild Things Outdoor (and Stu) by strong recommendation from a colleague who he had guided on a prior trip in Kruger National Park and Cape Town. In a little under a week, while straddling time zones, he helped build out a fantastic agenda to end my South African Honey Moon in Cape Town via email/WhatsApp exchanges. Stu was super responsive and answered my multiple emails/questions with considerate feedback. He went out of his way to address all of my concerns and recommended lodging, transport and other local business to utilize with in CT. He ensured our itinerary had a good balance of tourism/adventure and downtime. Tours we joined w. Wild Thing Outdoors: Table Mountain Tour, Peninsula Tour & Lion Head Sunset Hike. (Also recommended vineyards and whale watching outfits which were stellar & really helped us out with airport transfer) Stu was extremely knowledgeable and we absorbed a tremendous amount in a short time ranging from local habitat, fauna/animals to history of the city. We were whisked around the city in his spacious 6-seater (had all plugs for those with multi devices) clean with big windows and had water/gum and snacks to ensure we stayed comfortable. If you are a newbie to SA & Cape Town (like we were!) you cannot find a better contact/business to partner with - you will be looked over like a close friend vs. a customer which is invaluable when exploring new territory. Easy choice - use Wild Things Outdoor.Written 10 April 2020
- aydat20180 contributionsStuart is an incredible guide— 10/10 you’ll be in good hands!TL;DR— 10/10 would recommend Stuart as a guide; he is incredibly knowledgeable and prepared for emergency situations that can occur on the mountain. I can’t thank him enough for his assistance after I had taken a rather scary fall while hiking on Lions Head on my own— if it wasn’t for his immediate help, my experience would have turned out to be a quite traumatic one for sure. I’m so glad to know that there are incredible guides like Stuart out there who are trained and able to handle emergency situations on the mountain like a boss! — I met Stu on Lions Head, not because he was my guide on the hike, but because he was my first responder at the scene right after I’ve taken a rather serious tumble on my way down the mountain while hiking alone during sunset (something I do once/twice per week, mind you). He and his 2 clients from New York were on a sunset hike at the time of the incident—they were coming down the mountain a couple of clicks behind me when I fell after a miscalculated step due to moving too fast while being too dehydrated on a very hot day on the mountain. Stu knew exactly what to do in my time of emergency — he checked my pupils for a possible concussion (I had hit my head during the fall), called the paramedics to the base (they had arrived right on time as we got down to the base, perfect timing!) and put my arm in a sling, thanks to having a full first aid kit with him (he had suspected I’d broken a bone my arm— which was correct; I later found out I’d broken my elbow at the hospital) Honestly I feel blessed to have ran into someone like Stu on the mountain right after such a traumatic experience, if it wasn’t for him everything that came after the fall would have been downright terrifying (I’d never broken a bone before and did not know the emergency number to the paramedics!). Thanks to Stu being an incredibly knowledgeable and prepared guide, I survived the whole ordeal with very minimal damage 🙏🏼 It makes me so happy to know that there are incredible folks like Stuart out there who are trained and able to handle emergency situations like mine on the mountain like a boss. 10/10 would recommend Stu as a guide, rest assured you’ll be in excellent hands hiking with him!Written 27 February 2020
- amandamguilmette0 contributionsMUST USE THIS COMPANYIt’s hard to put into words the level of professionalism and yet the down to earth vibe that Stuart and Fatima of WildThings Outdoors bring to the table. Not only have I been to Cape Town before, but I experienced a lot of the tourist traps. With Stuart by my side, he lead me through the true Cape Town experience brought to you by a guide that not only lives here, but has a true passion for the city and the people of this country. I learned and absorbed more in the last 8 days than I did in the last 8 years. The overall planning and thought that is put into each tour and trip with WildThings is beyond amazing. Everything you need is at your finger tips to accomplish your mission of hiking and being active. You absolutely are getting the best possible experience. To say I would book Stuart again is an understatement. WildThings Outdoors is such an amazing group of guides. BOOK THEM, you will 100% not regret it.Written 13 February 2020

How about just family as a selection?
Stewart was a wonderful host. Even though we didn't make it to the top and had to break off from the group he was very helpful, cordial, and understanding. He called several times to make sure we were okay and monitor our progress.
The only thing I would change is that the climb should be labeled more difficult than it is. The trail, while well marked and easy to follow, is much steeper than advertised. If you are a flat lander or office dweller, you'll need to understand that this will test your physical fitness. Be prepared, bring a lot of water. It was warm and we burned through two 2 liters pretty quickly.
It's a beautiful view though, and if like us you run out of gas before the top, sunset hill is a short uber ride away!

One of the best things I done in Cape Town. The view was Amazing! I'll do it again, of course.
In my opinion it's better hike for dawn's view than the sunset hike , because the sunset hike it's more knowns and there's many people than dawn hike.

Stuart was an incredible guide..you could tell he was extremely passionate about nature, Cape Town, and South African history. He also made two very novice hikers feel very safe throughout the process with his expertise. Couldn’t imagine a better tour guide for this hike and can’t recommend him enough.

I'm so glad we had a guide, and that Stu (ownder/guide of Wild Things Outdoor) was that guide. Although, you can hike Lion's Head on your own, you would be missing out on SO much. Stu really provided for a full experience, and I'm grateful.
Before I'd even booked, Stu was quick and helpful in his communication. Then, when we we arrived at the trailhead, I knew we were in for an great afternoon. He is super friendly, personable, patient, and knowledgeable - from geology, flora/fauna, history, hiking, etc. We were both nerding out over what we were learning from him. He allowed us to set a reasonable pace, was always encouraging/positive, and let us stop to take as many pictures as we wanted. When we got to the summit, we enjoyed the gorgeous sunset. After listening to him share with us, several other hikers remarked how they wished they'd had a guide to make for a more well-rounded experience.
On the way down, we encountered a solo woman hiker who was very unprepared for the conditions - improper shoes, not enough water (it was a scorcher), and no light other than her phone (it was dark by then). She was scared. Stu is very safety conscious, and she walked back down part of the way with us until she met up with another group.
This was such a memorable experience, in large part because of Stu. I highly recommend you look at booking with Wild Things Outdoor for your South Africa adventures!

Our hike was brilliant made so much better with Robs, amazing knowledge of the hill and surrounding area. He explained how we'd approach the hike and ensured it was what we wanted for the hike. He took the time to point out the different types of rock, the various bushes and plants and the wildlife we would likely see.
He was without doubt a brilliant guide.

Hi,
Can we arrange a pick up and drop off from Protea Stellenbosch Hotel?
Thanks.
Shani
Written 20 August 2019
Dear Shani,
Based on my personal experience with HIKE LIONS HEAD, pick up is typically only offered for hikers staying within Cape Town central.
However, if you're staying outside of Cape Town, a meeting point can be arranged at the base of Lions Head, which is easily accessible by taxi or car. From there, the guide can guide you on your hike and ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.
To arrange your hike with the company I did my hike with HIKE LIONS HEAD, you can contact them via WhatsApp at [[[plus two seven eight one seven six two five five five one]]], or email them at "bookings @ hikelionshead . co . za". They can provide you with more information on meeting points and logistics for your hike, as well as answer any other questions you may have.
I hope this information helps you plan your hiking adventure as I had a great time! They offer a range of hikes and packages for both Table Mountain and Lion's Head, and the guide is an experienced guide who can provide you with interesting insights and information about the mountain and its surroundings.
Best regards,

What are the ladders like when climbing Lions Head? Is it really "terrifying"?
Written 12 July 2019
Hello, thanks for your question. In my opinion, while everyone's perception of what is "terrifying" may differ, it's important to note that the ladders on Lions Head are generally safe and secure when used correctly. However, they can be challenging for those who are not used to heights or have a fear of them.
The ladders on Lions Head vary in length and steepness, with some sections requiring a bit of upper body strength to navigate. However, they are well-maintained and have handrails and footholds to ensure your safety. If you are unsure about your ability to climb the ladders, it's always best to consult with a qualified guide or experienced hiker.
If you would like more information about the ladders on Lions Head, I recommend contacting the Hike Lions Head specialized tour agency office on WhatsApp
((( two seven eight one seven six two five five five one)))
or emailing them at bookings @ hikelionshead . co . za
I hope you find this information helpful and enjoy your climb up Lions Head. You can book a hike on w w w . HikeLionsHead . Co . Za

how difficult is the hike? can i do it along with my 10 month old infant?
Written 5 May 2019
Hello, The difficulty level of the hike can vary depending on the route you choose, but overall it is considered a moderate hike. It typically takes around 1.5 to 2 hours to complete the hike, depending on your pace and fitness level.
You would probably need a tour company for assistance and a professional Guide, I attached below the contact of a company I did the hike with my 11 month old baby.
Otherwise, your question about bringing your 10-month-old infant, I recommend that you consult with HIKE LIONS HEAD tour company, specialized agency, l before attempting any physical activity with young children. It's also important to keep in mind that the hike involves steep inclines and rugged terrain, which may not be suitable for infants or young children.
For more information about the hike, their official website is [{ w w w . hike lions head . co . za]}. If you have any further questions direct it to the about hiking tour, their email to contact is **bookings @ HikeLionsHead . co . za**
I do hope you have a great time exploring Lion's Head and its beautiful surroundings!

Hi, can we arrange pick up and drop off from hotel?
Written 28 November 2018
Hello, I have personally used the services of HIKE LIONS HEAD tour agency, and I must say that their pick-up and drop-off service was excellent.
When I booked my hiking tour with HIKE LIONS HEAD, I was able to arrange for a pick-up from my hotel in Cape Town Central. The driver arrived promptly at the agreed-upon time and was very courteous and professional.
Throughout the journey, I felt safe and comfortable, and the driver provided me with some useful information about the area and the hike itself. At the end of the tour, the driver dropped me off at my hotel with the same level of professionalism and punctuality.
I would highly recommend HIKE LIONS HEAD for their pick-up and drop-off services, as well as their overall hiking tour experience. For more information, you can visit their website at ((( w w w . hikelionshead . co . za ))) or contact them directly at *** bookings @ hikelionshead . co . za ***
I hope this helps, I did enjoy my hike with them.
