- S1204MCdianew0 contributionsFun Day in WinelandsWe had a great day with Patrick on a full day Winelands tour. Since the tour was private, Patrick customized it for us. We wanted to taste Cap Classic sparkling wines and to see Franshhoek and Stellenbosch. Patrick researched and found two lovely wine estates that specialized in Cap Classics. He also found a lovely place for lunch. He was very accommodating and a great conversationalist. We enjoyed our day with Patrick and will be recommending him to our kids for hikes and mountain biking as well as other types of tours.Written 24 November 2024
- VeraZqin0 contributionsHighly recommended !Patrick is extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I bring my mom (60+ ) with me for the hike. Even through she is all fit and able to complete the whole round, Patrick help a lot give her a hand though out the journey. The new is spectacular, highly recommend!Written 17 November 2024

Patrick was a great guide and great company! The Bikes were perfect, I even wanted to take one home ! - nic0lemp8899su0 contributionsLion’s Head Sunrise Guided HikePatrick was awesome! We started in the dark to watch the sunrise over Cape Town and it was one of the highlights of our time in the area. Patrick engaged with us the entire time and was very friendly/knowledgeable. 10/10 recommend!Written 5 October 2024
- ailuig0 contributionsOne of the best hikes everI did the sunrise hike to the summit of Lion's Head this morning. Waking up at 4am is never easy but it was SO worth it! The hike is a great mix of easy paths, challenging/technical parts with ladders and chains, and a bit of "Lego blocks" as Patrick calls them :-) And then the view is out of this world. Overall it's a quick hike so it doesn't become exhausting, and it makes you feel like a great mountaineer even if you're back by 8am :-) Patrick is a very good guide, very prepared, he provided me with a headlamp and he even had coffee and tea for a sunrise sip! I would love to do this fun and rewarding hike again. Hopefully one day. Thank you Patrick!Written 1 October 2024
- Y3717SHjamesr0 contributionsThe perfect guidePatrick was great company on this dawn hike - he even brought head torches and hot coffee! The weather wasn't on our side but he was patient and took extra care to point out tricky or slippery bits. He even joined in with me in looking for geocaches on the way up and back. Highly recommended!Written 25 September 2024
- bessaferreira0 contributionsLion's Head Sunset WalkPatrick was our guide during this walk. He was always available before the walk. He would adapt the tour if the weather was not good. This walk is a must do if you visit Cape Town. You can see the whole city as well as Table Mountain. Patrick would give you the best tips and give some history background of Cape Town. During the walk up, you will be able to do a 360 degrees walk arround the mountain which allows you to enjoy every angle (Tip: bring your binoculars because you might see whales which was the case for us). At the top, you will enjoy the sunset of this beautifcul city. On the way back Patrick gave us lamps because it gets dark quicker. His experience is really helped us to enjoy this tour. Thank you PatrickWritten 11 September 2024
- CLockTravler0 contributionsGreat experience hiking the Lion's Head trail.I completed this hike with Patrick from Cape Escape Tours. There were two other women that were part of this group hike. Patrick was the best guide for the hike. He knew the trail very well and was very good at making sure we were aware of the trail conditions. He let us know when sections of the trail were slippery or sandy and made sure we were all comfortable on the difficult sections. This was a sunset hike and it started getting dark partway back on our return. Patrick had headlamps for everyone in the group. This would have ben a very difficult descent without the head lamps. At the top of the mountain you definitely need both hands to navigate through the rocky areas. I love this hike with very diverse trail sections. I would highly recommend using Patrick as your guide, especially if this is your first time completing this hike.Written 17 August 2024
- Scott K0 contributionsMountain biking Capetown, Stellenbosch and WellingtonWe spent an amazing 5 days mountain biking between Cape Town and Wellington with Patrick our host and guide. Patrick organised all our accommodation on vineyards and small hotels along the way which were excellent. The riding is a mixture of single track and four wheel drive track which at times gives you great views over different districts along the route, absolutely breathtaking vistas. Patrick went at our pace and is a very pleasant chap answering all our questions along the way about different features and historical places. Highly recommendWritten 15 August 2024
- Tom_Lourdes0 contributionsA fantastic introduction to the Cape! Our family engaged Patrick (Cape Escape Tours) for two days, as we were brand new to Cape Town. The first morning, he guided us expertly through the beautiful and expansive Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens. From there, we drove south, down the False Bay coastal highway to the town of Kalk Bay. He took us first to the fish docks, where we saw the fresh catch (and seals awaiting scraps) as well as salted snoek fish drying in the sun. Next, he took us to Kalk Bay’s nearby beach-front town, and gave us our space to shop in the mixture of antique shops and beach boutiques. We met at the Brass Bell, a delicious restaurant separated from the breakers by tidal lap-pools. My wife and I enjoyed beer and wine with our lunch, while Patrick responsibly abstained. After lunch we continued down the coast to the Boulder Beach penguin colony, and then finally to the Cape of Good Hope lighthouse. While the sites and scenery were inherently beautiful and fascinating, Patrick’s historical and ecological commentary gave depth and meaning to a day of sightseeing. For our second day we requested a short spin through Bo-Kaap, and then a trip through wine country. For this, Patrick, a Frenchman, was a natural. After a colorful stroll through Bo-Kaap, we drove to the beautiful, ancient town of Stellenbosch, full of Dutch architecture and luxury shopping. After exploring for an hour or two, we regrouped with Patrick and drove to the nearby Delaire-Graff Estate for a wine tasting. We enjoyed Patrick’s company at the tasting table, but again he responsibly abstained. From there, Patrick drove us to the quaint and historical town of Franschhoek for lunch and wine in a delicious French restaurant. Patrick regrouped with us after lunch and he returned us to our Cape Town hotel, discussing history and current events along the way. We really appreciate Patrick’s knowledge, judgment and professionalism, and genuinely enjoyed his company and friendship. He provided us with a great exposure to the country around Cape Town.Written 10 August 2024
- Climber678116963860 contributionsPhenomenal guidiing for a mtb ride around Table MountainWe, I.e. my wife and I, were lucky enough to engage Patrick as a guide for a Mtb ride around Table Mountain. Patrick pucked us up at our hotel and drove us to the start of the ride. We were provided with excellent full suspension bikes. The ride itself was 40+ km of a enjoyable mix of gravel, single track, cart tracks and some tarnac. On the route, Patricik provided us with cultural and historical knowledge about the sights. We really loved the ride and totally recommend Patrick as a guide for anyone who would like to do a Mtb ride in the Cape Town area.Written 9 July 2024
- cxnelson090 contributionsCan’t beat 30 years experience in Cape Town! The night before the sunrise hike, Patrick messaged us with availability. We jumped on it! He gave detailed instructions for when and where to meet for this beautiful sunrise hike on Lion’s Head. In the morning, he was there at the base waiting for us with lamps. Thank goodness Patrick told us to bring a wind breaker, because there were some big gusts at times! It was an unforgettable hike. As a tour guide who has been showing Cape Town around for 30 years, he knew the mountain and the right paths like the back of his hand. On the hike, he shared his knowledge of Cape Town, historically, and currently. It was an absolutely pleasure. I booked Patrick for a mountain bike ride a few days later too. 5 starts. 10 out of 10.Written 22 June 2024
- ryanwJ2676YS0 contributionsUse Cape Escape Tours or you are missing out.We toured Cape Town with Patrick for three days. He is a very knowledgeable guide who takes you to all the right spots to truly experience Cape Town. Some things that really stood out with Patrick: how clean his car was, he was always early or on time, and he always opened and closed everyone's doors. In a world of commercialized tourism, he is a special guide who uses his unique persona and immense experience to wow his guests and give them an unforgettable time! Cape Escape Tours offers a safe and professional environment for a wide range of people including rock climbers, mountain bikers, avid hikers, and tourists anywhere in between. If you are coming to cape Town and want a good experience, you better choose Patrick or you will be missing out... he is simply the best there is.Written 16 June 2024
- L2863PAkaterinaa0 contributionsLions head sunrise hikePatrick was a fantastic guide, I am not a pro hiker and also nervous of heights and Patrick took that all into consideration and made me feel at ease. A challenging hike but a rewarding one!Written 30 May 2024

Myself and two colleagues went mountain biking with Patrick. He was a brilliant tour guide for the day and went at a pace which was suitable to all riders and levels. He pushed the pace at times we wanted to (Down Hills) and slowed it down for times needed (Up Hills). Fantastic day and one to remember, shall defiantly do another ride with Patrick when I return with the family.

This was my second tour with Patrick. This was a day trip to Winelands with my Wife for our anniversary and it was wonderful. Patrick chose spectacular wineries with great wines and two stops in the historical towns of the wine country. He is a wonderful host and we will definitely tour again with him and recommend him to anyone. The day could not have been better.
