Small-Group Gaucho Day at a Farm in San Antonio de Areco
From US$175.00
El Ombu de Areco Estancia is a traditional ranch located in San Antonio de Areco, at the heart of gaucho (cowboy) country and a 1.5-hour drive from Buenos Aires. On this small-group tour, spend a whole day at the estancia and experience gaucho culture with activities including a ranch tour, horseback ride, a BBQ lunch, and a folklore show.
What to Expect
After pickup from your Buenos Aires hotel, travel to El Ombu de Areco Estancia by air-conditioned minivan and enjoy stunning views of the Argentine pampas along the way.
On arrival, follow your guide on a walking tour of San Antonio de Areco and learn why the country town is known as the ‘birthplace of the gaucho’. Continue to the ranch and saddle up for a fun horseback ride (suitable for all abilities) or horse carriage ride around the estancia.
After working up an appetite, tuck into a typical ‘asado’ barbecue, with delicious Argentine steak, salads, and dessert, accompanied by Malbec wine. While you eat, be entertained by a thrilling folklore show, including live music, folk dancing, and a dramatic horsemanship display by the gauchos.
Your tour ends back in Buenos Aires with drop-off at your hotel.

Fantastic break from congress into Argentinean country life!

If your 4 day congress becomes too much, I would highly recommend this trip to a working ranch 2 hours out of Buenos Aires city. This was easily arranged from the congress centre and we travelled as a group of 12 or so out of...More

Many years ago I looked after a stable of 12 horses and taught riding. Height is not such a big problem on a horse (horse = 14.2 hands or more) but a heavy weight person may strain some horses make them lame. I suggest you... More

Late afternoon. Sorry I can't remember exact times but we showered when we got back and went out for tea without it being too much of a rush.
