- dmikeyh0 contributionsA great 3 hours, rolling through the Sonoran Desert with Arizona Adventure GuidesI found myself with a half day to spare in Scottsdale. I fancied some fresh air and also an opportunity to take in the unique, Arizona terrain. This Mountain Bike ride hit the bill. Paul, the owner of 'Arizona Adventure Guides' is an amazing guide. I met him (by arrangement) at the Trailhead entry point to the national park. He provides all you need - the quality bike, helmet, water and a small rucksack for spare water and to stash your mobile phone. The next three hours were spent rolling through the network of Park trails, visiting different areas of interest. Paul is very personable and incredibly knowledgable of the local area, the wildlife and the fauna. There was nothing seemingly that he didn't know and I learned a lot. In terms of the physical challenge, Paul tailors the route, distance and level of difficulty to the guest. It was clear that safety is of paramount importance. There were regular track junctions where we paused and Paul described route options. As a result, this trip is a great choice for all, irrespective of cycling ability and fitness. There are options to do shorter trips if needed. I would thoroughly recommend Paul and Arizona Adventure Guides and took a lot from the trip. I know that Paul also does hiking trips, so a good option might be to combine a hike with a bike rideWritten 12 January 2025
- Jim B0 contributionsBiking PleasureThis was a fantastic experience. Paul is a personable, Professional and knowledgeable guide. He makes sure that you are able to safely and pleasantly tour the area and learn about the amazing Sonoran desert. He knows the intricacies of the trails so that all skill levels of riders can experience their time on the bikes as they wish. Paul supplies, everything, including enthusiasm and a joy for guiding. This is a fun, enjoyable learning experience. You’ll want to do it again.Written 10 January 2025
- abbyhF1042UG0 contributionsAmazing bike & hike!!Amazing experience! I felt safe with our guide on the roads, he have lots of heads up on stops and directions! He was very knowledgeable and really funny! I learned a lot AND had a phenomenal time!!Written 24 December 2024
- Jim M0 contributionsGreat time riding mountain bikes in the desert!Paul, the guide and owner, provided an excellent adventure for my son and me. He was well organized, prompt, and the equipment was in good condition. He made sure that our equipment and bikes were all adjusted correctly and led us to the trail. Also, he worked with us on the level of trail difficulty, which made it interesting and fun. It is probably best to have some level of fitness and comfort with riding a bike as the paths can be narrow and sandy at times, but that is half the fun. Paul provided interesting insights regarding the landscape and plants along the way at stopping points, so we also learned a couple of things during the ride. I would engage his services again if we want to go mountain biking or hiking in the area.Written 21 December 2024

He adjusts the ride according to your needs/wants. This ride can be for beginners or experienced riders. Hands down I would do this again. Nice discovery walk of flora and some fauna of the Arizona deserts.
Very well explained and guided by pleasant and knowledgeable Paul, who also can provide a mountain bike tour in the same area.
The park is nice, but quite flat ( not a challenging hike if you are expecting some kind of intensity or altitude gain), close to the city and to some electrical lines.
The park is home to some crested saguaro - a rare species - worthwhile discovering.
Sunset was beautiful to watch through the trees, cacti and the mountains

Such a fun adventure trail for adults and kids alike. This trail has it all: gorgeous views, runing water in the creek, beautiful wild flowers, and blooming cacti. Paul shared his knowledge about desert plants and animals and unraveled a prickly pear heart mystery. One of our favorite parts of this adventure was his Creosote bush trick.

My husband and I booked a tour with Paul and were very happy we did! We realized we had an afternoon open and called Paul to ask if he could accommodate us the following day and he made it work. He met us at Jewel of the Creek and it was absolutely stunning. Paul was pleasant, knowledgeable and very professional. He taught about the desert with real appreciation and we learned so much from him. He also provided water, sunscreen and offered snacks. During the hike, Paul suggested different levels of trails to take, depending on our comfort and energy levels. I would highly recommend this hiking tour with Paul. He would accommodate for all ages and skill levels and it is a cool and fun experience!!!!
