- E1216DKmarcusv0 contributions10/10Amazing! We saw the northen lights in private space with an amazing guide. The knowledge of the guide was crucial to have the perfect spotWritten 12 January 2025
- AntAnnie0 contributionsCraters, falls and geysersThe trip covered everything and more that they advertise 👍 Our guide Vjeran was a very safe driver and an excellent guide. Our day has flown by and loads of photos. Vjeran was super informative and his knowledge about taking best photos/videos was spot on 👍Written 12 January 2025
- Buddy8440 contributionsRude man guideThe guide for the tour, a man, was rude and unprofessional. He allowed a friend to join him on the bus during the tour and spent the entire time talking loudly with him, completely ignoring the group. Additionally, the tour organizer has been unresponsive—I’ve sent 20 emails without receiving any reply. Extremely disappointing experience.Written 11 January 2025
- zandtt0 contributionsBus never came to pick us upA whole day wasted. We waited patiently at the designated pickup stop (bus stop #1) at 8:30am. There were about 50 other people waiting for other tours and most were picked up. However, my name was never called, and we never got picked up. I confronted one driver who I thought might be ours but he said we were not on his list. He was a bit dismissive so didn’t try asking him again to double check. We waited for up to an hour and when we finally got in touch with support they basically told us there was nothing they could do as the bus already left the city. I’ve been to numerous countries and never had an issue with logistics. I can’t fathom how the ONE job of a tour company in one of the most beautiful places can fail so miserably. They really need to improve communication, especially at the pickup stops where multiple companies operate. A megaphone and/or better signage would really help I think (if they even bothered to show up in the first place).Written 11 January 2025
- Z9311JDlindac0 contributionsArtdic Adventure the worst in IcelandThis is by far the absolute worst company I have ever EVER delt with.We were told to go to the bus stop #9 in Iceland they never showed up !!!! On top of that they told us we were at the wrong stop! I am from the USA where in the world would we come up with bus stop #9 in foreign country if it wasn't told to us. Then there is Marcus who just kept repeating send an email and I'll look into it. At over 8 hundred US dollars and treating us like we did something wrong. I am writing this to WARN all travelers NEVER use this company. After the fact we were told that it was a very shady business and it's not the first time they have done this to unsuspecting travelers please be aware this is a horrible CompanyWritten 11 January 2025
- sociauxling0 contributionsLoved my experience at Katla! Our tour involved two different people, Vjeran and an older man who actually took us on the glacier hike. Both were incredible! Super kind, friendly, funny, patient and easy to ask questions. The tour itself wasn't as stressful as I expected, as someone who is scared of heights and expected a lot of physical activity. Just very cold. We even saw a fox on our hike!Written 10 January 2025
- jessykal20250 contributionsDon’t skip this adventure!!!My husband and I are in Iceland for our honeymoon (from the states). This was our first adventure and with Fede, our guide. She was absolutely amazing- knowledgeable, fun, and reassuring as we snorkeled on a freezing day!!! She made sure we were comfortable and secure in our gear. We also had a small group of 6, which made the experience more personal (spaced out from other tour groups). Fede also took a few pictures of us which she uploaded to a Google drive within an hour of concluding the tour. The hot chocolate and cookies at the end of the tour were a nice touch. I absolutely recommend going with Arctic Adventures! Thank you Fede :)Written 10 January 2025

- geeijo0 contributionsCrazy but amazingMy friends thought I was crazy and at time I wondered if I was! The hardest and coldest part was getting into the dry suit but the team there are well oiled and efficient. Multiple checks to ensure all is good and everyone ok. Our guide Danielle was great. The snorkelling itself is amazing and well worth it. My hands got cold but they survived! It’s an experience well worth it.Written 9 January 2025
- BoardingPass891770 contributionsWinter snorkelling well worth it.Great tour. Freezing cold weather but the dry suits and wetsuits were great. Only parts of the face were exposed. Standing around getting ready beforehand and afterwards were probably the coldest parts of the tour - water temp was fine with the extra layers. Would recommend this tour. Crystal clear waters with an amazing underwater view. Great guides that give clear instructions. Anybody can do this. Doesn’t take an athlete.Written 9 January 2025
- amywF1467CU0 contributionsRudeWe arrived just under 10 minutes late, we walked up and the two staff didn’t greet us, in fact kept their backs to us as though we weren’t there! I apologised for being a little late to which they told me that check in had closed, everyone was getting ready in the gear and we couldn’t go on the trip!Written 8 January 2025

- ankitaverma110 contributionsIf you are looking for winter getaway, then Iceland is a must visit! My husband I were recently on the 6 Day Around Iceland Adventure tour with Arctic Adventures. This was our little getaway to ride out a busy and eventful 2024. We always wanted to see Iceland in the winters and it is an understatement to say that the place is truly mesmerizing. The scenery kept aside which speaks for itself, our trip was made very special by our tour guide Vjeran who was extremely fun and very knowledgeable. We almost missed the first day of our trip due to flight cancellation and by the time we reached, the tour had already started. The staff at Arctic Adventures were extremely cooperative and guided us so we could catch up with the group midway. We got to know from our lovely tour mates that Vjeran was constantly following up about our movements. He was extremely accommodative and ensured that we were picked up mid way so we could join the rest of the tour on Day 1 and we are grateful that he did, as this was truly a trip of a lifetime. With Vjeran's exceptional knowledge of the history, the folklore, all the fun local stories and amazing recommendations for restaurants and fun activities along the way (not to forget his expert driving skills which got us around Iceland in a windy and chilly Iceland winter feeling extremely safe and secure), this was indeed the perfect way to end 2024. With a packed itinerary and a different hotel everyday (all of them welcoming and cozy and in some truly remote and mesmerizing locations), our tour group (nicknamed "team wonderful" by Vjeran) trotted along circling the entire country. Sharing some pics from our massive collection. What a sight that was!Written 8 January 2025
- _Y1862OD0 contributionsMemorable tour in IcelandIt was very amazing experience with knowledgeable tour guide that we learned a lot of iceland and heard funny stories. Also, the course of a tour was so satisfying since the nature was so beautiful. And accommodation was decent. However, the only one disappointing thing from this tour is we didn't do a whale tour and we have to afford most of the high price food in iceland. Although, overall the tour was nice.Written 7 January 2025
- Kunama74240 contributionsMust do tripRight around Iceland in winter was such a treat. The dark days delivered secrets and spectacles that will stay with me forever. The bus was warm, the accommodation was beautifully diverse, from comfortable hotels to unique farm stays. All added to the feeling that we were really seeing what life in Iceland is like. Along side the spectacular scenery, our guide Vjeran was an addition that absolutely made our trip. He was passionate about the country, provided us, with stories of trolls and elves, alongside facts and details. Recommendations of not only where, but what to eat, made us feel like we were getting some special secret insights. From the first pick up to the final drop off he had us laughing and learning the whole way. His energy and enthusiasm is endless. This is a must do trip.Written 6 January 2025

I don't often take the time to write a review and I'm not a very picky person but I think it's important to let others know how this excursion is going at this time of year . On October 3, 2023 10 am, on a sunny day, we did the Crystal Ice Cave Tour with Arctic Adventures (this only included the cave and not the glacier walk). Since it is the beginning of the season and the weather is mild this year, the cave is still melting and it is only possible to access a very small part of the cave and not its entirety. Here's how the tour goes: you take a super jeep that brings you near the cave, take about 25-30 minutes and it's a bumpy ride on the bumpy road. Then you get out of the jeep and have to walk on a rocky path for 25-30 min. We follow the guide who sometimes walks very slowly to wait for the other groups to move forward (you should know that several companies go to the same small cave at the same time and follow one behind the other). After the walk, we enter the cave and wait another 10-15 minutes standing for the other groups to come out before being able to go to the bottom of the cave. At the bottom of the cave, you will have around 5 minutes to take photos in the slightly bluer part, it is quite expeditious, you will then be asked to leave to make way for the next group. Currently, the ice at the entrance to the cave can be seen as black and not blue. Only a very small part at the bottom of the cave has blue reflections which are better seen in a photo than with your eyes. It is not possible to go further into the cave at present because there is a river inside that has not yet frozen, so it is inaccessible. Perhaps a little further we could have seen better or seen a little more blue but currently this is not possible. Our expectations were high for this tour, especially seeing the photos but it's not like that currently, so it was disappointing. We even had the impression that it was a tourist trap and that we had been ripped off. If the cave isn't fully accessible, they shouldn't do this tour, especially at the price it costs but it's still a business. We paid over $450 Canadian for 2 people and this tour really wasn't worth that. Furthermore, our guide could have saved the tour but he was not at all enthusiastic. He gave us information but, clearly that day, he didn't want to be there and it showed. So, before taking this tour, clearly inform yourself about the conditions of the cave. I think this is a tour that is best done in the middle of winter and not in April or October, for example. If you are tight on budget and have to choose another tour, take the zodiac tour in Jökulsárlón lagoon, it is a very nice tour and your money will be better spent. If, on the other hand, you have the budget and want to do this tour anyway in April or October, enjoy every moment, appreciate with your eyes what you are going to observe even if it is little, it remains a unique place Nevertheless.

Arctic Adventures had great communication as a storm was hitting the day of our tour. They let us know early in the morning and then worked with us to accommodate a different date and time.
The Tour guide and Jeep were awesome and lasted about 3 hours.
The hike to the ice cave was about 20 minutes and they provided the crampons, helmet and light. Relatively easy hike and the distance changes every year.
Bring your own water bottle - or there is a cafe at the meeting point with snacks and hot drinks.

We had Bjork as our guide, and she is apparently one of the few female guides in the area. This was an excellent tour, and Bjork not only got us to the ice cave quickly and safely, but she also took a lot of time to explain things or to let people pose for personal photos with the ice.
The tour itself is utterly and stunningly awesome. Besides the Northern Lights, this is a can't miss tour. It starts out with a 30-minute ride across lava debris as well as anything uncovered as the glacier outlet pulls back. After the rides, there's a 30-minute walk to the glacier. It really is that blue, and you will be beneath / Inside a glacier.
Our particular tour was part of a two-day package from Arctic Adventures. Bjork handled this portion of the tour, and her calm but friendly exterior helps to make this tour better than all the other Iceland tours.

A short but sad story about how the organizer behaves.
Me: I love Iceland, I love ice, take my money
Arctic Adventures: Got your money, come to see the ice
China: *sneezes loudly *
Me: I still love Iceland, but planes don’t fly, let's move the tour
Arctic Adventures: no problem, pay the same amount, we will refund the money for the previous tour in 6 weeks
Me: Well, the situation is complicated, I believe you, here is another one payment
Me: More than 8 weeks have passed, the money haven't come back
Arctic Adventures: We stopped all returns, waiting for help from the government
Epilogue:
I understand that the entire tourism industry is in a difficult situation. It’s not your fault that a chineese bat sneezed at someone. I do not ask to return all my money, I ask to return money just for the first failed trip.
Still love Iceland and ice, but cold to Arctic Adventures

We had a lot of trouble deciding which ice cave tour to do as we couldn't see a lot of up to date (or positive) reviews with actual feedback on the caves themselves. We therefore booked the one that most suited us for time and place etc and hoped for the best based on the older review. Let me tell you, I'm glad we booked this particular tour. We had a very comfortable and luxurious feeling superjeep. Our guide, Axel, was very funny and very informative. We had a great time chatting to him and he answered all of our questions.
The guide explained to us that they have access to a couple of caves, and the one they take you to depends on the weather conditions at the time. The day we went, was extremely windy, so there was only one cave saefly accessible to us. Unfortunately, this meant it was also the safest for most of the other groups visting at that time, so it was very busy and crowded. Despite this, the groups all operate on a first in first served manner, so we would wait outside for the group in front to finish before entering. This is a good system as it allows the smaller groups time to themselves and opportunities for photos etc without people absolutely everywhere, however it also means there is a bit of waiting time between seeing things. Axel kept us entertained with information about the glacier and the ice, and you're still in a moulin while waiting so it's still beautiful and interesting.
The caves themselves are now more of a series of moulins and a small cave, not like what's pictured in the guide photos. However, this isn't unexpected as the caves are completely up to mother nature and different every year. It's an overall really cool experience and we really enjoyed it. My partner and I would recommend this to anyone on the fence!

Our lead guide Fannar was awesome. He surprised our group with a new cave route that the other tours weren't doing that week. While the caves do change every season, what was different with this route was that since other tours weren't visiting it, we felt like we had the entire cave to ourselves. We even had the chance to walk across the glacier (which from my understanding wasn't initially part of the plan) and explore the area.
Honestly this was the hightlight of my trip to the south coast of Iceland. The caves are absolutely amazing and the top of the glacier is like you're on a different planet. For those who are hesitant about the hike: it's really easy (no hills), we are provided crampons and a helmet for safely walking on top of the ice and in the cave, we travelled at a very slow pace and the hike was really more like a 10-15min walk from the shuttle (which this is while we are already on top of the glacier so you don't feel like you are walking to get to the event - you are already exploring the landscape).
I want to again shoutout Fannar for he definitely has a lot of experience in this area and can answer any questions you may have. He's very passionate about making sure everyone has a great time and feels safe too. He provided a lot of insight into the how the landscape is formed and makes it very interactive (he cut into the glacier to show us the layers of ice and how clean it is below the surface). He also gave us a great recommendation for a dinner in Reykjavik (Tapas barinn) which was awesome.
Definitely would go again if given the chance!

No trip to this awe inspiring country would be complete without touring an ice cave. Björk (w/ Arctic Adventures) was our guide for the Crystal Cave and we couldn't have been with anyone more suited to walk us through the experience. She was not only incredibly knowledgable about the cave and surrounding area but helped us try to pronounce some Icelandic, not to mention she drove like a boss! She even stopped us at a rushing creek to drink some of the best glacial water in Iceland. She really was the 'Queen of the Ice Cave'. The Cave itself was out of this world, Björk pointed out details we would have overlooked in the ice and made sure we all got our photos - just a great trip in general. This experience alone was worth coming to Iceland in the Winter! Can't miss!
Also, we very much enjoyed that the meeting place for the tour gave us easy access to the Glacier Lagoon and Diamond Beach once we were all finished. Don't forget to stop for Fish N Chips after your tour! That dude was an artist at his craft. Definitely the best Fish N Chips we had in Iceland, and that's a tall order!

We visited the Saphire Ice Cave with our guide Atli and it was simply breathtaking. The colours were amazing. There was a bit of a crowd but The cave is huge and more people just means more time enjoying the stunning views and shooting lots and lots of photos. It's a definite must see!

We had an amazing time on the Glacier Lagoon tour. Our guide was knowledgeable funny and helpful.
The timing of the whole tour was spot on. The meeting point is a very short distance to the caves. From there the guide navigated the “off road” big tired vehicle closer to the cave (Felt like you were rolling on the moon in a rover!) then a short walk to the cave entrance. You spend a good amount of time in the cave itself. Then walk back and back into the truck. Our guide was able to share insights on how the cave is formed year to year and how the guides all work together to map out the caves.
The small group format made it easy to see each section of the caves in detail. (We had 11 ppl in our van with the one guide, whereas we saw other tour companies had closer to 20 guests per guide.)
We loved every minute and would highly recommend this tour to friends.

The guide was absolutely lovely and informative. The journey was quite exciting at points as you’re in a superhero that seems to be able to drive over everything. Maybe it’s because we went in November but the cave wasn’t really very big, nothing like it looks in the brochure. It was still good and we enjoyed it but it’s quite disappointing if you’re expecting it to be like the promotional photos. At £130 each it was hard not to feel a bit ripped off.

Dear Stacey G,
Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us. We are sad to hear the cave did not meet your expectations. We can assure you that our website pictures are up to date. However, it is worth mentioning, that appearance of an ice cave is greatly influenced by such factors as the daylight and overall weather conditions. We sincerely hope you had a great experience in Iceland and we'll see you again on one of our adventures.
