About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 27nikulr0 contributionsGreat trip in Easter island with PatricioThe trip with Patricio was incredible! We really enjoyed. Patricio was a great guide and gave us very good information. He was always on time and great company! We highly recommend Patricio! You can contact him on this number +56 9 8892 2917.Written 16 November 2024
- akiiistar0 contributionsExcellent private tour and tour guideWe joined 2 half day and 1 full day private tour with guide Yoyo. Yoyo is an excellent guide. We can see his love of the planet and Easter Island. He explained a lot about the island and help us to take many photos. During the sunrise tour, Yoyo prepared chairs, tea and snacks for us. And take us to an awesome place for beautiful sunrise photos.Written 8 November 2024
- HA3330 contributionsDo not miss this experience! My wife and I came to Easter Island on vacation and to celebrate our anniversary by seeing this remote island with their wondrous Moai statues carved by the ancient Rapa Nui but we were blessed to receive the fantastic experience that can only be provided by exceptional human interaction. Marc served as our guide and, not only was he a fount of information, but also a personable, grounded individual with a tremendous, positive spirit who offered great perspective and connection. This adventure would not have been the same without him and we are extremely thankful that the stars aligned in our favor in this regard. This was, by far, the best tour we have ever experienced in our travels… Marc and the Green Island tour group are highly recommended!Written 28 September 2024
- player6760 contributionsTwo full day and two half day private tour (with stargazing night)We spent 2 full and 2 half days with Yoyo and he was beyond spectacular. He exceeded our expectations in every way, from his knowledge of the island, his patience with our family (which included two teenagers and two seniors), to even the food recommendations. Your company was top notch and everything about the experience was first class.Written 16 September 2024
- hollyz3680 contributionsSimply the Best!We spent the most amazing two full days with Tokerau on the Moai Monuments and Historic Pathways Tours. Tokerau is a local Rapa Nui, born and raised, with education in tourism. He was effervescent and passionate about his heritage, and eager to share his knowledge and experiences of his homeland. He carefully planned out our itinerary each day, from timing the site visits to avoid crowds and recognized weather patterns so we could see the best parts before the rain approached. He also arranged the tour in a chronological order so it would be easier for us to follow and digest the island’s rich history. Tokerau encouraged questions and explained everything in such detail, not only the history, but the significance of each maoi period, to various types of volcanic stones, to the restoration process. We were thoroughly impressed with the breadth & depth of his knowledge. At the end of the two days, we felt we were in the company of a friend, and not just on a typical tour. Also a shoutout to Paulina and YoYo. Paulina organized the tours for us, with immediate responses to all questions asked. Excellent communication - kept us informed with the schedule to Stargazing and Sunrise tours as the island weather is unpredictable in winter. Paulina also proactively emailed me the required forms to enter the island ahead of time so we need not have to scramble at the airport. YoYo - our excellent guide to the Sunrise Tour. He made an extra stop for us to see the stars and constellations ahead of the sunrise, because he knew we had missed the Stargazing tour for 2 consecutive nights due to the rain. YoYo not only showed us the best vantage point to capture the Tongariki sunrise and away from the crowd, he also knew the exact timing and the angle in which the sun rose! Rapa Nui is magical. If you ever have the opportunity to visit the island, I highly recommend the professional and knowledgeable team of Tokerau, YoYo and Paulina! They are simply the best on the island.Written 15 September 2024
- 652tomast0 contributionsGreat tour company!Amazing tour company and tour guide Yoyo was absolutely fantastic! I did the Sunrise at Ahu Tongariki tour and couldn’t be any happier. My tour ended up being completely private with just the tour guide, he provided so much information about the place, recommended some nice photo spots and walked around with me. He then let me spend some time and watch the sunset on my own to feel the real spirit of the place. Pick up and drop off on time and overall experience very smooth.Written 12 September 2024
- T1372VCethanw0 contributionsIncredible experience at Rapa NuiI had 5 days on Rapa Nui and ended up booking 4 tours with this company. As a solo traveler who doesn't speak fluent Spanish, I enjoyed both tour guides with Yoyo and Tokerau, who are both natively from Rapa Nui, and speaks English that explained everything very well to me. This company organizes tour with small size group, so you can spend more time chatting with them about anything on this island. Through them, I not only learned the rich history of Rapa Nui, but also felt deeply connected to this island and its culture while I was there. The moai monument tour was definitely the highlight by visiting Tongariki and Rano Rarakou, but I also highly recommend the hidden treasure tour that no other tour company on the island will take you to see those places. The star gazing tour and sunrise tour would depend by the weather to have the best experience, but Green Island Tour knows the best places to take picture, and organized these tour experience very well. The star gazing tour is another 10/10 because very few companies on the island would organize such tour in the evening, and it left me with an unforgettable memory about that night by the Anakena beach, and seeing the beautiful milky way with my eyes. Last but not the least, the communication is outstanding, Paulina organized everything well and made sure my tour runs smoothly every day. I'm very satisfied choosing this company for my Rapa Nui experience.Written 24 August 2024
- Jpow300 contributionsFantastic company!Booked the ‘Moai Monuments’ and ‘Historic Pathways’ to see the main sights. The tour guides (Heki and Patrice respectively) were very friendly and knowledgeable about the subject matter, making the whole experience a delight. I also booked the ‘Tongariki Sunrise’ tour which was fantastic, despite the cloudy weather. The same weather conditions unfortunately killed my chances of going on a stargazing tour! However, this was refunded very quickly so cannot fault the company there. I would like to also give a shoutout to Paulina, who always responded in an instant to help book my tours, keep me informed and make sure any issues were ironed out quickly, such as the refund for the cancelled stargazing tour. All in all, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Green Island Tours - Mauruuru and iorana! P.S. To anyone who leaves things ridiculously last minute like me, I advise you not to take that approach if considering any of the day trek options, as although GI Tours saved my bacon with the main sights, there was no availability for the Poike and North Coast treks, which I regret missing out on.Written 25 July 2024
- Martin O0 contributionsOutstanding!Look no further than Green Island Tours to help you explore this magical island. I had a wonderful experience over two days and really got the most out of my visit. My guide Yoyo was exceptionally knowledgeable and professional, and really made my trip so memorable. A huge thank you to all of the team. Strongly recommended!Written 23 June 2024
- tomlP964GB0 contributionsMilky Way MorningGreen Island Tours stayed in touch by email, then WhatsApp throughout the booking and pick-up process. Very smooth and professional. I special-booked my own early morning star-gazing itinerary with them. Chris Araki was a wonderful guide throughout. The tour company handles the special early-hours permission to be inside the parks, but the visitor still needs to purchase the general parks ticket nonetheless. I went to Ahu Tahai to watch the moon set into the ocean behind the Moai, then up to Ahu Akivi for amazing Milky Way shots. I highly recommend this company.Written 3 June 2024
- TassieTs0 contributionsTwo great days on Easter islandThe tour covered all the highlights of the island. We were given ample time at each location to view the monuments. Our guide, Yoyo, was extremely knowledgeable and always happy to assist us with all aspects of the tour.Written 9 April 2024
- Lisa W0 contributionsTours every day!We booked almost every tour available for 6 days. Poike tour was a highlight. Stargazing tour was amazing. So many sights to see and the tour guides were all very knowledgeable. You really benefit from their knowledge and will miss the hidden treasures without them!Written 13 March 2024
- N6788ZXjeffb0 contributionsThree great days out on Rapa Nui with Green Island Tours! We had several activities booked through Green Island Tours for our four-day visit to Easter Island; our first day was an island "highlights" tour, the second day was a six-hour trekking adventure to the top of one of the craters and the third day was a sunrise visit to the Moai monuments at the beach. All of these activities were private activities with only the two of us and our guide, YoYo. We had an excellent time on all of these activities; YoYo was a fantastic guide and he clearly has great pride in being Rapa and showing his home to visitors. With a mixture of historical perspectives, philosophical musings, humor and deep knowledge about the island, the Rapa culture and the history of the monuments and places, YoYo immersed us in the history, customs and lifestyle of island living. Except for the time that he was away at university, YoYo grew up on the island and is raising his family there. YoYo speaks excellent English and was extremely interactive during all of our activities; more importantly, he instinctively knew when to tell a story and when to allow us to simply marvel at the sanctity of some of the sites. It was truly awe-inspiring to take in the island in this way; it is clearly a special place. Most importantly, YoYo made us feel welcome and comfortable as visitors to his world; he was prompt in picking us up in the morning and was very mindful of our comfort when hiking or when in the car on our way to various sites. We joked how everyone was seemingly related on the island and he seemed to know everyone. He was extremely flexible with our schedule and allowed enough free time for us to hang out at the beach or to spend a little more time at one of the many sites. Although he has been leading tours for many years, we never felt like he was telling us stories by rote or routine; he was clearly engaged in all of the discussions about the sites, the history, the special plants and animals on the island and the activities of his own childhood. He helped make the visit unforgettable for us. We were also fortunate to visit Rapa Nui during the Tapati festival, which was a special view into Rapa culture and the importance placed on their history. Although there were many visitors at these activities, we truly got the sense that this festival was *for* the Rapa people *by* the Rapa people and that they would be holding the same activities regardless of whether there were any visitors. That experience was also very cool and YoYo gave us special information about which activities to watch as several of his children were participating at various times during the festival. Green Island Tours was very flexible to work with and communicated very well; we would recommend them highly for future tours. They made excellent suggestions to help tailor a schedule for us that worked for our visit. Even though we visited during the high season and there were many tour groups of ten or more people at the monuments, we always felt the privacy and intimacy of our days out with YoYo.Written 18 February 2024
- JeanneT89070 contributionsWonderful Tours!!We had a wonderful time on the Moai Monuments and Historic Pathways tours. The tours were both small--just my husband and I and one other traveler. Our guide Yoyo was fantastic! He provided insightful commentary on the numerous sites we visited and arranged the tour so we got to the sites with great lighting for pictures, but somehow without too many crowds! He also took a ton of pictures for us. Yoyo was a true ambassador for the island. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Green Island Tours. Iorana!Written 8 February 2024
- ddna0 contributionsA wonderful 4 days with Green Island TourOur itinerary with Green Island tours was: Dec 16: Arrival / 3pm Rano Kau crater walk short version followed by Orongo & Ahu Akivi Dec 17th: Full day moai monuments tour 9am / Stargazing tour 20:00 Dec 18th: North Coast Hike 7am Dec 19th: Sunrise at Tongariki 6am, drop off at hotel/town centre for breakfast. I cannot rate the company highly enough. Punctual, professional, great communication. Sadly the skies were a bit cloudy for stargazing but they offered us a prompt refund. Absolutely recommended for a great experience of Rapa Nui.Written 3 February 2024

A Memorable Experience for the Head and the Heart
The Stargazing Tour with Marc and his Partner (wish I'd gotten his name) was beyond words. It was a mix of deep knowledge about the stars, navigation, and Polynesian history and culture and a true passion for the subjects and for Rapa Nui itself. Unexpectedly, they sang and played the guitar for us between stops and at Anakena Beach, where they took amazing photographs of our group at midnight with the Ahu Nau Nau moais and Milky Way in the shot. You'd think they were the result of a professional photo shoot. But that wouldn't have been possible without them factoring in the time and place of the rising of the nearly full moon.
On the main part of the tour, we saw Jupiter and some of its moons, Venus, and numerous stars through their sophisticated telescope. The views with the naked eye included the Milky Way and numerous constellations.
When I return to the island, I won't hesitate to take the tour again.

A magical experience to absolutely live!
Imagine the atmosphere: beach under the moonlight, sound of the waves, hot chocolate and thousands of stars! Our guide sang to us live and it was incredibly good, it gave me shivers of enchantment. We explain the local navigation system based on the stars and you can even contemplate the moon and the planets up close with professional equipment and with relevant explanations.
At the end of the visit we take you back to Anakena beach where the Moaïs are waiting for you to take some night photos.
If you want to immerse yourself in the magic of the island, treat yourself to this beautiful experience.
It was the most touching memory of my entire stay in Rapa Nui.

The island is a paradise, super safe. The inhabitants treat tourists very well. They practice organic farming, great local food and beer. Mahinatur Agency and Kari-kari show note 10,000; glass bottom boat ride was amazing; beautiful sunset at Ahu Tahai and at night the cemetery illuminated with colorful lights

Sometimes things really work out when you wish upon a star. The night started with 30+ knots winds with dark clouds covering the entire night sky. But the guides decided to wait it out with some hot chocolate and an extremely informative lecture on ancient navigation techniques. Almost as if on cue as the lecture drew to a close the sky opened up to some of the brightest stars anywhere in the world. Truly a breathtaking experience.

Just AMAZING! Our guide Yo-Yo, native to Rapa Nui with local knowledge and history, brought our tours to life. The first day, we did the full day of the island tour. It went so well, that we booked the stargazing to sunrise tour for the next morning . Both tours are not to be missed. Professional, coordinated and well informed. 👍👍 HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

They changed the place to see the stars better according to the weather, and the explanation was very good in easy-to-understand English!
The moon also looked beautiful with the telescope. They also gave us some very good hot chocolate, and the stars we saw while drinking it were very, very beautiful!

The stargazing tour is def one to not miss while on Easter island! You can see so many stars and the guides do a great job of explaining all the different constellations. They also have telescopes set up so you can see the stars more clearly. And the photos they took at the Moai with the sky in the background are amazing

We used Green Island tours for our Stargazing experience. We were picked up from our home stay residence and transported to the office for a comprehensive talk on Polynesian history; drinks and cake were provided. A small group of us, then took a mini bus to the Observation site. It was quite a clear night, but to be honest, Ive been lucky enough to sleep under the stars in many countries and this wasn't really any different. Obviously, I wasn't expecting different star views, so in that respect the experience was great and quite romantic. We then moved onto Anakena beach where the moonlit views were very atmospheric. We got back to our bed at about 2:00am, it was an interesting night and great to see the moi under the stars.

We were the first tour since Covid. Had a great time with Marc and his crew. Saw the rings of Saturn 🪐 and the moon’s craters through telescope amongst other stars. Perfect night pictures of 🗿 . Absolutely loved Easter island and it’s welcoming people. Thank you and best wishes!

This could have been a really superlative experience, but it fell down in some very important areas. Let's start with the good. The informational lecture at the beginning really set the stage for what we were going to see and why it was important. And out in the field, the assistants they had working the telescopes were very knowledgeable and there were enough scopes where people didn't have to wait long to get a good look at the stars. Even while you were waiting, the total lack of light pollution gave you breathtaking views even without the scopes. Now to the "less than good." The lecture was long in a cramped room without enough chairs. At the end, there was only one bathroom -- with no light -- to serve all the people who needed to go before we hit the road. The guides were a little "fast and loose" with the green laser pointers (I got shot in the eyes twice). And finally, we were going to go to a secret location for a big surprise. After hiking in the dark with our headlamps for a while, we discovered we were at Anakena Beach, theoretically to get our picture taken with the moai there. Unfortunately, there was a technical difficulty, so we just sat there for a while before hiking back. True, anyone can have technical difficulties, but don't you think you should test your gear before going out into the field. In sum, what's good is great, but they are going to have to work on some stuff before I would call the overall experience excellent.

Hello Traveler
Thanks for taking the time to write and be so thorough. We are glad you enjoyed the tour. The good news is light is fixed and we have more chairs. We re working on stream lining the tour so there are less people having the lecture at the same time. Once again thanks so much for the constructive criticism...
