About
Tarangire National Park is popular for having the largest number of elephants per square foot as well as baobab trees. With its beautiful scenery proximity this park is usually assigned with the northern circuit itinerary along with other national parks like Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro and Serengeti. The elephants fill this park like cattle while the lions roam the grassland plains looking for their prey. Due to water scarcity most animals in the summer would be found along the riverbed digging for water. It is close to Arusha town making ideal for a day visit.

- dieg0mathias0 contributionsLOOK NO FURTHER THAN “SHUJAA TOURS & SAFARIS” FOR YOUR TRIP ARRANGEMENT TO TANZANIAWe are so excited to explore Tanzania, and we are very happy to make this wonderful record of summiting Mt Kilimanjaro. We hired this local company to organize our trip to Tanzania. We appreciated every bit of their service from the first day of our arrival to the last Day of our trip. We booked our kili climb for 6 Days via Machame route, 4 Days Safari and spent the rest of our Days in Zanzibar. And the experience was amazing. Shujaa team have a wonderful care and know how to put you in a good shape to feel your trip. For anyone thinking of exploring Tanzania would be lucky to have this company for the comfortable arrangement and perfect organization.Written 24 July 2018
- Bruce B0 contributionsPlease Read...Very Important Info on hiking Mount KilimanjaroI just returned from hiking Mount Kilimanjaro. I went with my best friend to celebrate our birthdays. We did the Machame Route also known as the Whisky Route as it is the toughest but most beautiful route. Unfortunately I found out after returning to base camp that my best friend died as he was attempting to summit Mount Kilimanjaro. I can't stress enough that if you are at any point not feeling well, ie...stomach problems, nausea, vomiting etc...turn around and descend. If you get into trouble on this mountain there is very little anyone can do for you and it's not easy to get off quickly. The hike itself is amazing but tough. We did the Machame Route 6 day option. Based on my experience I would recommend that you don't cheap out on gear. Aside from the obvious like proper footwear with gortex make sure you have proper rain gear that is 100 percent rain proof is a must. The weather will change from minute to minute and we found ourselves in many downpours. We rented sleeping bags which was a mistake as they were not warm enough at the higher altitudes, get a good quality sleeping bag that is designed for colder weather. If you have the option of getting a "private bathroom" from the tour group you are going with you will be very happy you did. I would also highly recommend bringing your own energy bars or snacks. Also if you have a camelback they are great until you try to summit. Even with insulation around our packs they froze after 2 hours. I managed to summit in just under 6 hours plus three hours to return to base camp and had very little water after the 2 hour mark which made my life hell. Make sure you bring water bottles to supplement your camelback as you attempt to ascend on the final day. Put that water bottle(s) inside your down jacket to prevent it from freezing. Drinking water is extremely important on this hike and you have to be aware of how much you are drinking. If you have a camelback it should be at least 3 litres. Because the weather is constantly changing it is very important that you bring proper layers so you can adjust on the fly. You can be in very good physical condition (which you should be) and still experience problems such as altitude sickness. If you are hiking with others please encourage them to reconsider summiting if they are not 100 percent. I would highly recommend getting Altitude sickness pills as a precaution! Also if you can bring some extra clothing or footwear to give to the porters who carry your gear it would be awesome! These guys make very little money and some of them have next to nothing on their feet and very basic clothing. If you have any specific questions about this hike, the route etc...please feel free to contact me.Written 6 January 2015
