The Rongai route is the only route that approaches Kilimanjaro from the north, close to the Kenyan border. Though gaining popularity amongst climbers, Rongai has low traffic. It is the preferred route for those looking for an alternative to the crowded Marangu route, for those who would like a more remote hike, and for those who are climbing during the rainy season (the north side receives less precipitation).

Kilimanjaro on our bucket list and thanks to the fantastic organisation of Almighty Kilimanjaro, it was a rousing success! We always felt looked after, whether it was: nightly health checkups, route briefings, water breaks and even our portion sizes for lunch and dinner. For all of this and more, I'd just like to extend a personal thanks to our two fantastic guides, David and Shukuru. Not only did they drag us through our challenging but extremely fulfilling Summit Day to Uhuru Peak but they were invaluable in learning about Tanzania itself as we picked their brains every day. Further thanks to our fantastic cooks that kept us well fed, Omari and Killian as well as our speedy and efficient porters, many thanks! I would urge anyone interested to pursue the summit with Almighty Kilimanjaro as their organisation and efficiency up the mountain have been well received and worthy of praise. I really didn't enjoy the sleeping in tents part, so I wanted to complete the treck in half the time, 4 days. It was hard hards work for them. The team were flexible as once on the Lemosho route, I reached the summit and down again in 5 days, rather than the 8 days. They accommodated my wishes and provided a good service.
