- 1Catalina Island, a hidden gem in the Caribbean, promises travelers an unforgettable experience in a tropical paradise. Upon arriving at the island, you will be greeted by beaches of fine white sand that contrast with the crystal clear turquoise and deep blue waters of the Caribbean Sea. As you explore the island, you can dive into its waters and discover a vibrant underwater world full of colorful corals and a variety of tropical fish. The island is a popular destination for snorkeling and diving, thanks to its pristine reefs and the abundant marine life that lives in its depths. In addition to its underwater natural wonders, the island offers trails that wind through its tropical vegetation. These roads take travelers to scenic spots where they can enjoy stunning views of the ocean and the Dominican coast in the distance. During your visit, you will also have the opportunity to taste authentic Dominican cuisine at a buffet.
About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Rebecca S0 contributionsUnderwhelming on expectationsThe pickup time wasn’t accurate and we had to walk to the front gate. Breakfast consisted of a bag of crackers and a juice box. I think they booked too many people because there weren’t enough seats. The boat ride was crazy but good and they found a whale and did everything they could to get some good pictures. The safari ride didn’t have enough seats so some people had to stand but it was a fun drive. The horseback riding was ok, typical for a tour but then someone had an issue with the horses and his shoes supposedly got stolen so we waited about an hour to leave. Lunch was pretty good but everyone was starving and they ran out of food. Drinks consisted of coke and rum and a bottle of water if you were lucky. Our driver was nice but spoke very little English and was pretty quiet the entire time. It was fun but definitely overpriced compared to the others. I thought it would be more personal and supportive with the amount we paid but it felt like the treatment was for the cheapest fair. All the workers (horse, tour guides, boat guides, photographers) all claimed the company didn’t pay them so they all wanted money and they are pretty good at adding pressure and making you feel guilty. I feel with the price I paid ($20/person) I shouldn’t have been asked for so much more money. I’ve taken a lot of tours and this was fun but not worth the price with this group.Written 12 February 2025
- pedroquadrat20240 contributionswhale adventureWe went there for one day trip from Bávaro- to wathing whales and dolphins. And we really watched one four members family od dolphins and than two adults whales with their baby. They jumped from the water three times!!! It was really very big adventure. Than we spent few hours in the small island Cayo Levantado. There were nice beach with a lot of sunbeds.Written 31 March 2024
- Ariahnasot0 contributionsImpressive & Amazing Adventure- I highly Recommend!!You need to book this tour! It was such an adventurous and fun way to see other parts of the Dominican Republic. Everything was amazing from the whale watching to swimming in the cascading waterfall! I highly recommend this tour to anyone seeking a unique adventure in the stunning landscapes of Samana. As someone who travels for a living, I have been on countless tours and this one by far has to be in my top 3. I was highly impressed. This tour exceeded my expectations in every aspect, and I cannot recommend it enough. The team's commitment to providing a top-notch experience was evident throughout. From the comfortable transportation to the engaging guides and delicious meals, every element of the tour was well-thought-out. The tour offered picturesque views of different parts of the Dominican Republic that you just do not get to see in Punta Cana. This tour is a must for anyone visiting Punta Cana! I came on this tour solo, but I ended up making a great group of friends on the tour as well which was just the cherry on top! A big thank you to Jack Cana Tours for creating such a fantastic and well-rounded experience for my last full day here in the Dominican Republic!Written 5 February 2024
- alessiabenedettap0 contributionsNot very happy...Saona island is definitely beautiful. But I have to be honest and say that I was disappointed by the tour...Out of a 12 hours tour, we only stayed in Saona 2 hours. We arrived there were 30 min late and the 2 hours also included the lunch. I would not call that a tour focused on Saona. I think transportation was very very inefficient. We had to change bus twice on the way to the island, and the same on the way back. Similarly, we had to change boat twice on both ways. For every change, it took forever to collect people. Especially because we were many and from several different hotels. At every step there was also additional time wasted with guys going around to get tipps and to sell additional things. On the way back, even once we reached Punta Cana, it took for me 1 hour to be left to my hotel, because we were 10 on the second bus, belonging to different hotels. And at each hotel, the guy would bring the people inside to the lobby (in most hotels this is an additional 5-10 minutes drive). This inefficiency and plenty of waste of time is not so important in a vacation lasting 1 month, but in a 1-week vacation one would like to enjoy every single hour, and wasting time like this was extremely upsetting for me. While I understand that organizing a tour with people from different hotels is difficult, it must be their job to find solutions and make the trip smooth, minimizing the time waste, and ensuring that people can actually enjoy the destination. For me for instance, if I have to travel for 10 hours to reach a place, I would like to enjoy it for at least 3-4 hours. And in any case I am sure that those 10 hours could become 7 or 8 with a better organization. We really wasted time at many points. Finally, the worst thing: I was undecided between Saona and Catalina tours. I preferred Catalina because I love snorkeling and because it is closer, so I would have enjoyed more time at the beach. I decided to go to Saona for only one single reason: the advertisement that we would have gone to a place to see starfishes. However this did not happen in the tour. So starfishes watching was false advertisement, and of course extremely upsetting for me, since I gave up snorkeling in Catalina because of the starfishes highlight of the Saona tour. Jackson afterwards gave me as a motivation that from November till March they are not allowed to show starfishes. Fine, understandable from an environmental viewpoint, but if this is the case then showing such a stop on the itinerary on the website is a false advertisement. To conclude: was Saona island beautiful? yes. Was it worth the 10 hours trip to reach it and come back, staying there 2 hours only? Not at all.Written 26 December 2023

- TravelWithMeko0 contributionsBest tour everDeciding to book with JackCana for two days instead of one was the best decision we made while visiting Punta Cana. The whole experience was really enjoyable & everyone we met on the shared boat became family that day! The staff on the boat made sure we were always on schedule & satisfied during the ride! To get on the boat, you'll have to take about a 15-20 min drive from the meeting point from the bus(JackCana Transportation included in your tour) to take you to the boating dock area to Isla Saona. Onboard throughout the boat ride, you'll be entertained by a live jazz musician playing pop songs, watch a Dominican cultured dance, & party to the music where you'll want to get up and dance! All ages are welcome aboard. My daughter is 6 years old and loved every moment of It! Once you're on the boat you can expect to be carted to with beverages and any other needs to keep you happy! A photographer is also on the boat to capture every fun filled moment on the boat available for purchase so can put down your phone to stay in the present! Before reaching Isla Saona we made a stop at a lagoon area where we were able to snorkel and enjoy an open bar in the water. Literally, this was the coolest part for me; just hanging out in the middle of the ocean enjoying a drink while cooling off in the ocean. Arriving at the island we're free to roam around and enjoy the crystal clear waters and the sandy beach until it's time for lunch! Lunch was served as a Dominican buffet style & we were able to choose what we wanted to eat. The food was really good and filling. I've had experiences of previous boat tours where we're fed finger foods and snacks. So touring with JanaCana you get your money's worth for sure! If you’re looking for an enjoyable boat ride while soaking up the sun, choose to go with JackCana Tours! JackCana also offers more tours such as Buggies, Horseback riding, Tours in Santo Domingo, Safari tours, fishing, zip lining, Scuba diving, transportation from the airport & more!Written 10 March 2022

We hire a snorkeling service in Punta Cana. Hotel pick-up time was 10:45 on August 10. The driver, from the Infinity Ocean Company, was about 15 minutes late to pick us up. Arriving at the boarding place, we were put on a speedboat and put on a boat that was rented for a private celebration. After almost 2 hours standing in a place of natural pools where there was only music and alcohol, we asked when we were going snorkeling and were told that that boat was not for snorkeling and that they could do nothing to us, that we would claim the company with whom we had contracted the service. After our manifest anger, they did a drill to give us the
equipment and go down to the water to keep us quiet, but of course, that wasn't the right area and there was nothing to see.
I asked for a claim sheet and they passed the ball to each other, making me go from place to place. I finally didn't get it.
What was trying to be a nature experience to enjoy with the 3 children, became a dantesque show with music and alcohol in which we were trapped without possibility of going out. Deplorable scene and experience for which I hold both JackanaTours and Infinity Ocean responsible!

Apr 2024 • Couples
DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY! We (2 persons) booked the Catalina excursion with them in April 2024.
I have never experienced such an unorganized disaster. The crew on the boat had no permission to leave the port, not enough life vests and no snorkeling equipment - which caused several hours of delay and a boat full of people including small children baking in the sun waiting for them to gather the required permits/equipments.
Due to this delay the snorkeling time was significantly less than it should have been according to schedule.
Once arrived on the island, there were no communication whatsoever and no instructions given regarding lunch, hour of departure etc - crew also did not speak English, which definitely caused a problem to the majority of the participants, being a foreigner.
Later on in the afternoon, some of the group members (including me) accidentally saw our boat leaving the island - without warning the group about departure time, so half of the group jumped into the water literally running behind the boat. Once on board, we figured out that there were tons of random people on our dedicated boat as well, which only added to the confusion. Besides that, the crew already seemed to have consumed a significant amount of alcohol, which resulted in them driving the boat as madman, while, again, also small children were among the tourists.
Arriving at the mainland, we found out that some of the groups members were missing - the representative had no idea where they were and how to locate them.
On top of this, we had to wait several hours for the shuttle busses to arrive and take us back to Punta Cana - some group members took the leap and ordered taxis/Uber to get back.
Once at home, I sent a message to the company’s representative through whatsapp, with the detailed description of this experience. A very nice person immediately called me back, apologized for the terrible organization, and explained that they actually contracted a third party for the weekends to execute this excursion, but as there were many complaints like mine, they will most likely end their contract. He also offered a double compensation - a devolution of the paid amount for the excursion, plus the possibility to repeat this same excursion at a later moment for no costs. I appreciated the gesture, which I thought was a professional way to compensate for this experience. I received the devolution in full.
4 months later, I contacted them again, referring back to the previous conversation, that we would like to repeat the excursion for no costs, as agreed before.
Turned out, that the person who made this promise, is not employed by the company any longer, and apparently didn’t leave “any notes in the system” regarding this agreement. After days of chatting and repeating myself and the story several times, they denied the no-cost-excursion, and offered it instead with “some discount”.
As a person who has worked with customer in my entire life, I can confidently say that this is not the way of doing business and treating clients. That internal communication is apparently non-existing within the organization, shouldn’t be the customers problem.
All in all, I do not recommend Jack Cana - even if they broke the contract with above mentioned third party, their communication and customer service is way below zero.

Dear Customer,
I am sincerely sorry to hear about the recent unfortunate experience you had with the Catalina excursion. Our company always prioritizes the safety and satisfaction of our guests, and it is discouraging to hear we have fallen short this time. I understand that the delay and lack of necessary equipment significantly affected your overall experience and for that, I apologize profoundly.
