About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 773sheab0 contributionsLoved everything about it!I came with my family if 4. We have two kids, 18 & 16. It was a Blast! The guides were amazing, we had Kevin, Jody and Julien, who were friendly, fun and kept us safe. Calling the activities ran so smoothly with little waiting. We highly recommend this tour! We did add the canyoning, which was also amazing!Written 19 March 2025
- darbjustic0 contributionsFantastic Ziplining and TubingExcellent set of activities. Tubing was our favorite—by far. Our only complaint—large groups. Like 50+ people going ziplining. It made the workers go really fast. And same with the hot springs. Too many people. Overall, great variety and enjoyable.Written 18 March 2025
- jopaul210 contributionsAmazing! My family did the Half Day Canopy Tour as well as the Tubing. We are able to do all that in one day. Tubing was the best activity we did - our youngest was 10 and had a blast! The ziplining was amazing as well - the scenery of the waterfalls, or gorge was breathtaking. Staff was very professional. Would definitely come back!Written 15 March 2025
- 434KarenH0 contributionsHOT Springs! We went strictly for the lunch with hot springs and mud bath. Amazing! Lunch was Wonderful and the hot springs have various temps of pools to lounge in!Written 5 March 2025
- Travel108566690260 contributionsRelaxingHad a chilled few hours being covered in mud, relaxing in thehot springs and visiting the waterfalls. My skin is so soft now!!Written 22 February 2025
- HaliS3040 contributionsAmazing staff especially Jason at the river tubing! If you're a fan of tubing, this is definitely the place to visit! I went tubing with my family, and I was initially very nervous about the experience. I almost decided not to get on the tube, but thankfully, Jason, one of the guides, made all the difference. He connected his tube to mine, guiding me safely down the river and making sure I felt comfortable the whole time. His care and attention to safety were evident, and he truly made the experience enjoyable. He also ensured I reconnected with my family at the end of the ride. Jason was not only incredibly professional but also kind and approachable. The entire staff was equally helpful, skilled, and dedicated to making sure everyone had a great time.Written 19 February 2025
- ibolyas6410 contributionsNice welness experience in natureThe hot springs bath is very well organized, comfortable changing rooms, nice pools. Lunch was very tasty with lots of choices!Written 18 February 2025
- Z4515PXjessicav0 contributionsVolcano and waterfall hikeWe did the volcano hike with Johnny. He was great and shared some information about the plants and animals that we wouldn't have known on our own. The hike was beautiful and manageable for anyone in reasonably good fitness. The trail is paved or dirt and is pretty smooth and easy to walk on. There are a lot of stairs to climb. We also did the waterfall hike and it was beautiful to see and swim in the pool beneath the falls. The hot springs and mud bath are also neat to see and experience. The waterfall and hot springs were a little farther of a walk than we were expecting, but it was nice to get to see the forest and be in nature. Bring water and bug spray.Written 12 February 2025
- michellegG2407YW0 contributionsMy time.Very rough water. I have done class V rafting and this was easily more intense. Honestly it was kinda of scary because you. Could be separated from family so easily.Written 8 February 2025
- Lrichardi0 contributionsHIGHLIGHT OF OUR TRIP!!THIS ADVENTURE CENTER WAS THE HIGHLIGHT OF OUR TRIP!!!! My husband and I have two boys ( 5 & 8) and the four of us did multiple excursions while staying at this resort. 1. Rincon de la Vieja hike with Johnny: He was spectacular- so knowledgeable, kind, and kept the pace comfortable for everyone in our group. He took multiple family photos for us and pointed out so much wildlife for my boys. My boys printed out so many pictures and can't wait to show their friends the bubbling of "a real volcano!" Thank you, Johnny!! 2. Zip Lining with Junior: Thank you for making this such a core memory for my family! We were all so comfortable and felt so safe with this group. My 8 year old even went upside down on one of the ziplines!! My 5 year old was allowed to go with me which I was so appreciative about. He says that next time he wants to go solo too now! My husband was the most nervous and even he loved it. The scenery of the water and canyons is truly unlike any other ziplining tour. We also really appreciated being in a small group with only one other family of 3. This was unforgettable and a must do!! 3. All of the hot springs and mud baths included in your stay here at Hotel Hacienda Guachipelin- all a must do!!! We very much appreciated the shuttle that took you around the resort and to and from each location.Written 3 February 2025
- Traveler084263882470 contributionsAmazing timeI had an amazing time and glad I went. At first I was apprehensive because I didn’t want to do zip lining nor did I want to do the waterfall slide in the forest however, when I got there and in part the persuasion by my friend. ,I did it and it was the best experience ever I did all the activities, including horseback riding the Hot Springs and my mud bath. I also enjoyed (although wasn’t in the description for our package), the cultural tour in which we learned about their sugarcane and coffee cultivation and their clay making display. That was also a very nice add-on. I will be remiss, if I didn’t mention the food. . I’m a vegan so I thought that I wouldn’t have much options, but there were options to eat and the food was delicious. I highly recommend this experience.Written 31 January 2025
- Venture7672200 contributionsA great hike with lots to see!Johnny was our guide and he was outstanding. He stopped along the way to point out wildlife and was very knowledgeable. One of the coolest things about this hike is you go thru both wet and dry Forrests. It’s a well maintained path but lots of stairs so if you have bad knees it might be toughWritten 30 January 2025
- LawguyHartford_CT0 contributionsExciting funWe did the half day river tubing. It was a high adventure wild ride. Very exciting. Far more so than we might have expected. Very well run and the staff was great. The included lunch was delicious and plentiful. Thye hot springs and mud bath was also included and was a great way to relax.Written 30 January 2025
- Tourist622162872080 contributionsAn Action-Packed Day of Adventure and Relaxation! One of the best experiences of my lifetime! The day was packed with activities, and each one was unforgettable. We started with horse riding, which was such a relaxing and peaceful way to tour through nature. It was a great way to ease into the adventure. Next was river tubing, and it quickly became my favorite part of the day! My adrenaline was pumping the entire time, and the staff was there to help if anyone got stuck. The safety measures were excellent, which made it even more enjoyable. Lunch was delicious and gave us the energy we needed for zip lining. The zip lines were such a thrill and definitely adrenaline-inducing! The staff was always there to assist, making it feel safe and fun. We ended the day with a mud bath and a soak in the warm water, which was the perfect way to relax and unwind after all the excitement. Overall, it was an incredible experience. In just one day, you can do so much, and the staff are absolute professionals who know exactly what they’re doing (plus, they’re really funny too!). If you’re into adventure, I highly recommend this!Written 25 January 2025
- Companion231545930680 contributionsA death defying day!Let me start off by saying we had an amazing time! The staff were great and we enjoyed everything. But, these rapids…. We were a group of 4 fit people from Colorado. When they told us that the rapids were class 3 and 4 they weren’t wrong. Water was high that day indeed. But we carried on, looking around our group we had a group of young to old, fit to not. I figured we’d be just fine. The water was freezing, you’re in an inner tube with limited ability to maneuver. No paddle. These rapids are more suited for an intermediate on a kayak. Absolutely insane that they are sending people down these in tubes. The website says children of age 8+ but I would strongly advise no children ever. We came out without major injuries but we did have the paramedics arrive for other people in the group. One guy dislocated his shoulder, another slammed his face against a rock when he flipped out, a few people were stuck in the toe of the rapids and almost drown. Including a college swimmer in our group. Gashes on face, feet and lower body plagued our group. The guides were doing the best, which was incredibly hard work, and they did a great job, to rescue and manage the carnage that happened that day. But… it was beautiful on that river. As I tried to stop shaking uncontrollably from the cold water, I was able to enjoy the scenes in one of the 3-4 very short chill pools that followed after I feared for my life. After the adrenaline wore off, we had a great lunch followed by amazing zip lining and relaxed in a beautiful hotspring. Crazy day, I would recommend the rapids for those who are very fit and have water experience. It is not a chill ride, you will likely come out with a renewed taste for life, bruises and a gash or two. If you choose to do the rapids, I would recommend a long sleeve shirt or swim suit to help avoid chafing as you grip those strings on the intertube and also provide a little more warmth. Godspeed friends.Written 24 January 2025

This was certainly a highlight of our trip and the whole family agrees. Both adults and our 2 teens loved every second and only had wished it lasted a bit longer. From smiles to fun screams to the top notch customer service, we definitely recommend this for anyone visiting. It's not for the faint of heart but certainly the average person can enjoy this activity.

Short, sweet and high on adrenalin. I enjoyed it a lot, but it is not for the faint of heart. It would have been even better if they allowed a few minutes of a relaxed floating in the water at the end.

Overpriced. A lot of money for not very much. You are told (only if you ask! I found out from a fellow person on the activity) you are doing three rappels, a segment of rock climbing and a Tarzan swing. It is advertised as two and half hours long. Firstly it is two rappels, one which you do twice if you decide to do the climbing section. Secondly the Tarzan swing in and out of the waterfall is just plain dangerous. You get launch under a pretty powerful waterfall and then pulled back in again and again. It's a recipe for disaster, because if you enter it the wrong way you are bound to get whiplash. One person on our swallowed a whole lot of water and struggles to breathe. Finally the tour is definitely not two and a half hours. I waited at reception for about 30mins before getting on the bus there, you had a short briefing and probably officially started the activity at around 9. Then we were done within the hour. 52USD is a total rip off as far as I am concerned. This should be advertised as an introduction to canyoning, with more accurate times and description of exactly what you are doing. The activity is worth 30-35USD max! I'm left quite disappointed as I was told this was one of the best places to do canyoning. Opt for the zipline, canopy tour instead as it is better value for money. You might have to over look one of the obnoxious guides though.
Also the photos they take of you aren't really the best. Save your money here!

At the risk of exposing our "little secret" Guachipelin's adventure center is a blast. The guides are professional and keep you safe and often refer to groups as "familia" . The photographers are there too, to catch your every move so you can focus on having fun and really experiencing it, instead of trying to smuggle your phone on the tube or the belay line (it won't work, don't bother). The Canyoning adventure is really something...rappelling off of a wooden bridge and dropping into the waterfall pool, then climbing back up the rungs under the waterfall to do it again...then to another rappel and then finally to the Tarzan swing...if you ever wondered what it was like to go flying through a waterfall, well, this is for you! So much fun! The only way it could be better would be to have tubes ready at the end so you could jump directly into the river and float the rapids...The tubing trip can be done as a combo day adventure or on its own and it is also a lot of fun. Even in the dry season, the river is cool and hopping and the rapids are fun. I highly recommend either trip!
