- 502cyruss0 contributionsAmazing wine tour in Santa Barbara/Santa Ynez ValleyWent with my girlfriend and a family of four. Our host was Scott was amazing, as well as the vineyards we visited. Very educational. Santa Ynez Valley was beautiful with gorgeous overlooks. There was time for pictures. Would recommend bringing a jacket. The tours were very intimate, and educational, and the lunch was great. If you're looking for a wine tour that's educational with great wine and amazing views, I highly recommend.Written 26 December 2024

We got personal, private tastings with small batch wineries and met the winemakers themselves! - H7271YAgeorgel0 contributionsPerfect wine tourGeorge, Darlene, Michelle & Eric This year we did something different for Thanksgiving. We spent an extended weekend in Santa Barbara. We wanted to do some wine tastings without the hassle of renting a car and driving ourselves, so we chose Sustainable Wine Tours. This was a great choice. We were picked up at our hotel by our tour guide Karina, the most pleasant laidback person in the world. She was a great source of information about the wine area, the grapes and the process of wine making along with facts about the areas we traveled through. The vineyards were all private, not accessible to the public. If you knew nothing about wine making and tasting by the end of the day you were an expert. We got the V.I.P. experience at every stop. Great people, lots of food, wine, and information. The tour was much greater than a five-star rating. The perfect way to spend a day in Santa Barbara wine country.Written 10 December 2024
- edcV7379BZ0 contributionsAmazing small group experience, interacting directly with wine makersIf you want a small group experience where you can interact directly with the passionate people who make the wine, this is your tour! It was the highlight of our first visit to Santa Barbara. Scott picked us up from our hotel in his Mercedes shuttle and led us on a 6-hour adventure into the wonderful world of wine in Santa Barbara. We traveled to three wineries specializing in smaller batches, direct-to-consumer, but incredibly high-quality wines. "Amazing" is the only word that comes to mind from this experience. The wines we tasted on this tour were some of the best we have ever tasted. If you want to learn about the passions of some exciting winemakers, and you want to do so on a small scale and personal level, this is your tour. Spend a few extra $$ and book this tour. You won't be disappointed!Written 7 December 2024
- GeneAZ0 contributionsSo happy we took this tourWe thoroughly enjoyed the day that Scott curated. We wound up with a total of four people on our tour and it was a perfect size to experience the private tasting experiences. Scott did a great job of communicating logistics beforehand and was an excellent host throughout the day. He provided a lot of great regional info along the way and we were impressed with his attention to detail such as the table setting for our vineyard lunch and lovely cheese plate to snack on during one of the stops. The opportunity to talk with the winemakers/owners and hearing their stories was a primary draw for us and the experience did not disappoint. Scott selected a nice variety of private settings ranging from a small production facility to large ranch/vineyard. Overall, it was a day that was quite educational, full of tasty wines, and beautiful vineyard settings.Written 29 November 2024
- TripChickNJ0 contributionsA great day with Karina - wonderful introduction to Santa Barbara wine sceneWhat a wonderful day! Highly recommend. Karina was informative and curated visits for us at three very different small, private wineries. We spent time with the winemakers at each site, learning about them, their businesses, and their wine. These are by-appointment-only wineries - we were the only people at each stop. We tasted wonderful wine all day - and had lunch in between at a lovely outdoor location. Karina is deeply immersed in the San Ysidro Valley/Santa Barbara wine scene. It was educational, delicious, and we all had a ball.Written 20 November 2024
- Footprints2819900 contributionsBook this for unique experience!!!We had such a wonderful experience!!! Our company booked a small private tour with Scott and he was simply amazing! He took time to educate us and drove us around these exclusive wineries where we met the wine makers and tasted some really unique, spectacular wines. My wife and I booked this tour last minute, having never been to Santa Barbara and knowing very little about Santa Barbara Wine Country. We had never booked a wine tour before, always having done our own research and planning. To say that we were blown away would be an understatement. From start to finish Scott was phenomenal as our driver and tour guide. We visited 3 small production wineries and had incredible and unique experiences at each, things we certainly wouldn't have been able to book on our own. We highly recommend Sustainable Wine Tours, and will certainly book with them again when we are back in Santa Barbara.

We have done numerous private tours throughout the US and abroad, and found Scott's curated day trip for us to be THE best. His tours are fun, energetic and provide you with a direct relationship with the wine makes. We visited 3 sites- from small producers to large. Scott covered every detail- including a wonderful picnic lunch, super comfortable riding conditions in his spacious Mercedes van & in depth info regarding the region. We would absolutely choose him again & can assure you that your experience with him will not disappoint in any way. The day spent with him and the winemakers is the biggest highlight of our time spent in the Santa Barbara area.

I was supposed to do my tour back in April, but due to Covid we had to postpone. Scott couldn't have been more accommodating given the circumstances. And coming from Texas, he was also wonderful in helping me understand what the day would look like with the restrictions that were literally changing by the day. He did not disappoint! Now to our tour...Sean was awesome, friendly and knowledgeable. Additionally, the SUV was super clean. He took us to three boutique wineries and our tastings were 100% private...no social distancing issues here! I loved talking with the winemakers, learning about their biodynamic/organic/sustainable practices, seeing the grounds and learning about the varietals in the region (it was our first visit to Santa Ynez Valley). I ended up joining two of the wine clubs, I liked them so much. I couldn't recommend this tour enough!

This tour was fantastic! I celebrated my 30th birthday with four of my friends and family and couldn’t of asked for a better experience. Scott (the owner) was so hospitable and even had a bottle of champagne waiting for us when we arrived. Everything was thoroughly executed and the lunch provided was from a reputable local restaurant that so delicious. Each private winery we attended had a different philosophy on wine making and had a unique atmosphere that catered to everyone’s different wine preferences. Due to the exclusivity of these private vineyards social distancing was also not a problem, as there were less than eight of us in total at each location and we remained outside the entire tour. Not only was it a fun time it was also an educational experience. The winery owners were so welcoming and fun to socialize with. I highly recommend Sustainable wine tours for any occasion!

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Karina! She picked us up promptly at our hotel in a Mercedes van and reviewed the itinerary for the day. She had picked out a variety of locations and filled us in on the details along the way. Karina was very informative, teaching us a lot about the area and the wine making process. She also set us a table for lunch at one of our locations and served us fresh delicious sandwiches. She really went above and beyond to make sure we were treated with the highest level of service. At each location, the owners presented their wines and welcomed us openly to their properties. The whole day was everything we had hoped for. We learned a lot, had great fun, tasted great wines and bought some bottles to enjoy later while reminiscing about the tour. Thanks Karina and the Sustainable Wine Tours team!

We had a wonderful day! Our driver, Frances, picked us up in a large and very comfortable van. She was incredibly knowledgeable about the region and local wines. We enjoyed wines at three different wineries. I typically have low expectations for box lunches, but our lunch was delicious.
Overall, a great day, and I would definitely go on this tour again.

We were looking for a unique and memorable wine tasting experience and Sustainable Wine Tours did not disappoint! We had the most fantastic day meeting with winemakers and tasting their incredible wines. Each and every stop was top notch and provided us with an intimate and personal look into the passions and backgrounds of the winemakers. And the wines were all beyond spectacular! Scott does a phenomenal job of planning out the perfect day for your group and his understanding of the wine region is bar none. We have done a lot - A LOT - of wine tours in Napa, Sonoma and beyond and this one was #1 in our minds. We plan on booking with SWT again for another fantastic day!

We’ve been to California many times, but this was our first time visiting Santa Barbara. We decided to take the guess work out of wine tasting and booked this wine tour. We are so glad we book this tour; we had such a great time. Scott picked us up on time and texted when we arrived. There were 5 other people in the van (2 other parties). Scott made sure our hands were always sanitized and everyone continuously wore masks. We visited 3 different wineries, each one very different and unique. In addition to my husband, there was another birthday in the group. Each winery gave us a “birthday pour” of a different wine selection, which made the tour extra special. At the first stop, Scott had cheese and snacks to go along with our tastings. At the second tasting, we ate our lunch. There were crackers and chocolate offered at the third stop. Everyone was great and it was a lovely group to spend the day with. We thoroughly enjoyed the day. Thank you Scott and Sustainable Wine Tours!

Such a nice day visiting only private wineries. Steve was such a nice guy and had a lot of knowledge about the area. The lunch was perfect as well and Steve recommanded a restaurant for dining at night which was totally amazing, thank you Steve. The car as well was very comfortable. The whole tour in itself was outstanding. I spent my 21st birthday taking this tour and it was the best decision I could’ve made. Steven was an amazing tour guide. Scott, the owner was so personable over the phone as we prepared for our trip, the wineries were so eclectic and divine and it was just all around a dream come true! Nicely priced for a broke young adult and it exceeded mine and my friends expectations. We’ll be back!
