We like to do little mini getaways and this was perfect. We were so happy it was overcast so we could experience being engulfed by the clouds. What a feeling to gently lift off the ground and see the landscape with a 360 view. Great team of people. We felt safe and in good hands. John was our experienced pilot who was quite witty. For someone who is afraid of heights, this ride was like floating in the air. Perfect landing and mimosas to cap off the trip. The flight was fantastic and our pilot, Ferrel, was most knowledgeable, experienced and a great story teller! We had a beautiful sunset tour over Rancho Santa Fe and Del Mar. Little did I know that my Groupon was with a different company than where they bought theirs. How the heck was I supposed to know? No big deal, we just agreed we'd take pictures of each other from the different balloons since we were flying Temecula on the same day, right? Wrong! My friends got a call from the other company saying they were canceling due to weather at 5 AM that morning. We showed up with Balloon Rides Online at 6:15 AM on February 28th and the sky was clear and weather beautiful. It was a great flight and the staff was really nice. By the way, Balloon Rides Online uses different elite balloon companies to service their rides - this morning we were with Magical Adventure Balloon Rides. Can't say enough good things about Denni and his staff at Magical. I'm bummed that I didn't get to fly with my friends but so happy that I got a company where the groupon paper is worth something instead of that fake bad weather cancel [--].Written 29 February 2012

Mr. Clean and William Dafoe lookalikes for any girls that are interested. Champagne was great and a beautiful sunset. We checked in next to another company in Del Mar and I am glad I spent a few dollars more for my balloon ride. We booked through Balloon Rides Online and Magical Adventures was the company that flew us. It cost more money but worth every penny.Written 6 October 2011

Brian was amazing! The flight conditions were great. I highly recommend doing it if you are on the fence. The flight itself felt like you weren’t even in the air. I recommend dressing warm because they do have you check in outdoors and you may have to wait around a bit during the process. You also will take off in a field so be mindful of this when selecting footwear. I wore a dress and sandals and wish someone had given me this advice.

Beautiful clear morning for my birthday hot air balloon ride!! Our pilot, Denny, gave us all (12) a complete experience that included the history of ballooning, the rules & regulations of ballooning in the US, how balloons actually drift with the air currents, and why there is a celebratory toast at the end of each flight.
We had 360° of great scenery with commentaries of what was in our view, occasional fun music, and a perfect landing at the end!
HIGHLY recommend!!

This was the best experience for a couple,party, or anyone who has ever wanted to ride a hot air balloon ! My boyfriend and I rode with Denny and he was a good vibe for so early in the morning. He explained the scenery, history and his own hot air ballooning expertise. I also loved the mimosa after the ride as a final touch, and then the certificate comes with deals at select wineries ! Very cool, would definitely do it again !

Said sunrise hot air balloon ride. They make you shuttle over to a field which takes a while. They are so unorganized. Screaming at each other cursing the entire set up process. We all have to watch them set up the hot air balloons from 5:30am till 7:10am standing in the desert sun. While you wait the 2 hours while getting bombarded by a man selling a drone video footage experience of your hot air balloon ride. They could of easily started the setting up process before they got to us and had some of them stay back at the field with the set up baskets. They don’t provide you water or a breakfast sandwich as said online. Our pilot had 1 water bottle and said to us “we have to conserve it!!” Lol
The worst part is it’s advertised as an hour ride at least. We were in the sky for exactly 40 minutes. Totally blown. We watched other balloons in the sky fly an hour plus but our pilot just wanted to get the ride over with from the beginning. The pilot was really mean and not welcoming the entire ride. Just a mean sole.
There are so many other hot air balloon ride companies in Temecula right next to them that’ll actually do as advertised. This place is all about making more money. Stay away at all cost.

6/28/2021 OK. Let's start with meeting times and sunrise. In the United States, the FAA has a rule that says balloons cannot take off until after official sunrise and they must land by official sunset. No one is taking off before official sunrise. If you think you want to see the sunrise in the air in the balloon, we have a package called the "Dark into Daylight" flight where we use special lighting equipment and get permission to launch before sunrise. The meeting time for that package is 4 AM.
Are other balloons launching before we do? Yes, by intent. I've been flying since 1987 and I've learned a few things. We meet 45 minutes to an hour later than our competitors as a convenience to our customers. Would you rather meet at 4:30 AM? 5:00 AM? 5:30 AM? We meet at 5:30 AM. The other guys just have you get there earlier. The waiting time is the same for everyone. 5:30 AM is too early as it is!. Also, we want to have brightly lit colored balloons downwind in the background of our passenger's pictures. The guys who take off first get pictures of fewer balloons in the air. The pictures they do take of balloons are upwind as silhouettes or dark dots in the sun.
We don't know our launch site ahead of time because it depends on the wind and weather conditions that morning. We have to pick our launch site with our landing site in mind. This means knowing the actual weather conditions at check-in time. Usually, we are able to launch in the parking lot, but Sunday's heatwave meant we had to move everyone to a different launch site. Besides, many of our guests want to watch the process and take pictures in front of the balloons as they are being blown up. (Er, we call that inflating the balloon.)
Our website says "This early morning tour package includes a premium champagne, juice or mimosa toast, a selection of individually wrapped breakfast items, free digital souvenir pictures, complimentary celebratory banners, a commemorative flight certificate, and 2 for 1 wine tasting vouchers to local Temecula wineries (a $100 savings) and other discounts." - We have never offered a "breakfast sandwich".
We do recommend that you bring a hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, WATER, and something to take pictures with on your balloon ride. The pilot may have water on board for emergencies, but it is a balloon basket and the supply is limited. We do provide water when we land as part of our post-flight celebration, but at that point, most people want champagne instead.
The flight time of Eric's balloon ride was 49 minutes of movement according to the onboard GPS log. We tell our customer's that the ride is approximately an hour on our website. Eric assumed approximate means more than an hour. We aren't going to pass up our intended landing site to squeeze another 5 minutes of flight time in and end up landing in a bad spot. Eric's 40 minutes statement is just an exaggeration.
Two of our balloon pilots missed the field and ended up over grapevines. They had to fly much longer than an hour to try to get to a safe place to land. So yes, some balloons flew longer than an hour, but believe me it wasn't a good thing. (Especially after the NWS issued an extreme heat warning for that Sunday).
Regarding your pilot, I am balancing your perceived interaction with him against other guests that flew with him that day. They seemed to have a good time and his reported tips that morning was the highest of our 4 balloons that flew. If everyone in your balloon had a bad time, I think it would have been reflected in the tip count.
Military Mike is a former naval aviator. You can take Michael out of the military, but you can't take the military out of Michael. He is also a very skilled and safe pilot and the only one of the 4 pilots that landed in the exact field we called before we took off. (Me included - and I am the sponsored race pilot of the group!)
That being said, Michael is direct and assertive and doesn't suffer fools much. Some people mix with him like oil and water. So I take your point about Military Mike. I'll speak to him about it. I'm sorry if you two didn't mix well.
Pro tip: Don't threaten to write bad reviews if you aren't going to get your refund demands met. That is a poor form of extortion. It will shut people down and make them defensive. Start with this is what happened and what can you do for me about it?

Horrible company and customer service. We were coming from Florida and my daughter inadvertently booked this one month prior to the actual date. My daughter spoke to the pilot that morning about the mistake and rebooked it. They charged a no show fee anyway despite her calling the company that morning about the error. The actual date of the trip was cancelled due to the weather. They still charged 200 dollars for the original error in booking and did not deliver the service they promised. I would not recommend them to anyone.

This review is unfortunate but it is akin to booking a non-refundable airline ticket for the wrong day and then calling the airline after you missed your flight (even though you received confirmations and reminders) and telling the airline they should reschedule you for free.
The customer booked a discounted fare online, in advance, and received and read their email confirmation and reminders. (Our system tracks when they click on the link.) The customer failed to show up for their ride on the scheduled date and only realized their error when our pilot called them that morning wondering if they were running late. Typically, when a customer fails to show up for a ride and does not give advance notice, the fare is forfeit and no considerations are offered. Our industry suffers from being both high cost and severely capacity constrained.

However, instead of losing her money entirely, we offered to reschedule the guests with a rebooking fee to cover the hard costs we endured due to their missed flight. The guest cites $200 to make the rebooking fee seem usurious. The rebooking fee included multiple guests and was nominal. Moreover, the fee was less than the difference between our regular fare and their original discounted purchase. I presume the customer has lost her credit card dispute and resorted to writing a bad review.
Pro tip: When you book online, read your confirmation emails and reminders and make sure the information is correct. We can do magic before the scheduled event, but our hands are tied when it is after.

This my first balloon ride, set up by our friend who is hosting us on our reunion. I thought this was going to be scary, but turned out that is was not at all. Take off and landing were so smooth. Between that and the breathtaking views, I forgot all about my fear.
What made it really uncomfortable and awkward though, was that our captain was less than accommodating and brusque. When one of the passengers asked a curious, innocent question he had on an irritated and demeaning in tone.
It got worse when our ride was cut short from 1 hr to approximately 40 mins long. We were all very disappointed about that, and about the fact that we did not go as high as we saw the other balloons go. The captain did talk about wind drifts and safety and all. However, when one of the passengers expresssed her dissatisfaction, she and the capt. got into a full-blown argument! It felt like fire being fought with fire! Yikes!!!!
We paid extra to be on a semi-private balloon ride, there were only a total of 8 passengers in the basket. That was not how I expected our ride would go.
It was a shame since everybody else was nice. Special shout-out to the lady taking pictures before our ride. She made sure our friend group was complete before she took pictures.

Thank you for your review. Your flight did not live up to our standards on several fronts. We've already issued a refund as requested. We hired a very experienced pilot to help out with the Holiday weekend rush and were surprised and disappointed with his demeanor. We are addressing the matter internally. I hope you will come back in the future so we can improve your impression of us.

A wonderful experience with wonderful people! Our pilot Phil was informative, entertaining, and very nice! The balloon ride was smooth and fun with great views of wine country and the mountains. The post-flight mimosas and snacks were a very nice touch. I absolutely loved this experience and highly recommend it to anyone interested.

The operator canceled our balloon ride late the night before we were set to leave our house at 4am from Los Angeles. It was incredibly disappointing and ruined my birthday trip to Temecula. The weather was perfect and no explanation was made as to why they canceled. I left a message for them the next day to enquire, but my call was never returned. This company is unprofessional and out right rude.

Roland, it seems you booked with Viator's book now and pay later feature. Your reservation may have been canceled in Viator when the payment failed, so you weren't on our manifest. We canceled all flights early this week due to the weather and contacted all our guests. It has been very windy and raining. No one has been flying and there is still flooding on the ground. We are a small family business and I personally answer and return all calls, so I can't reconcile your last comment. There was one voicemail that called us profane names in Spanish. I didn't bother to return that call. Maybe that was you? Sorry if you feel your birthday was ruined but it would have been far worse if you had attempted to fly this week due to the weather.

Everything was perfect. The pilot Eric, and Kate his wife catered to making my daughter’s 21st birthday the best memory. This is a fairly new family business so the special touches with mimosas and cupcakes at the end of the flight was nice. Eric is a skilled pilot. Our landing was soft and smooth.
