Overview
This very popular eco-adventure and combines the best of a boat tour, a kayak tour and a walking tour in a single great learning experience. Depending on the season, you can encounter manatees, dolphins, sea turtles, bald eagles, ospreys, herons, egrets, pelicans, roseate spoonbills and/or numerous species of fish and shore birds. A very comfortable transport boat will bring you deep into Everglades National Park with your Florida Master Naturalist guide. Once at the first destination, the tour slows down using very stable, comfortable kayaks to get you close to the flora and fauna. Imagine paddling next to a manatee or a dolphin! (No previous kayaking experience is required and there are single and two-person kayaks on every tour). Continue your interpretive experience with a walking tour on remote, pristine barrier island beach … a beach that is seldom visited by others.

Highlights
  • Everglades National Park ecology tour with a naturalist guide
  • Access remote places via kayak to see pristine coastal ecosystems
  • Guided walking tour explores native plants and animals
  • No kayaking experience necessary
What to Expect
Start by leaving the crowds behind on a boat ride from Chokoloskee, Fla., into Everglades National Park where you disembark at a beautiful and remote location. The guide helps with the basics of maneuvering a kayak before you launch into the water, paddling towards Barrier Island Beach. When you reach the shore, set out on a walking tour that takes in wrack lines, shallow tidal zones, dunes, and mangrove swamps. Take advantage of your time with a naturalist guide to ask questions about local ecology and wildlife, watching for manatees, dolphins, sea turtles, eagles, and other shore birds throughout the day. Following the hike, paddle back to the motor boat for the return trip out of Everglades National Park.

Captain Dan was very nice, very informative, and very accommodating of less confident kayakers. The beach walk - hearing all about the different flora and fauna - showed a side of the Everglades that was really interesting. And then there were the hidden alcoves and lakes to
