    Going downhill
Going downhill. Came here May 2024 after having a great time in May 2023. This time we are staying at a Disney resort and coming over for the whole day to visit both parks. Unfortunately it does not live up to last year and compared to Disney falls a lot short. The staff are very miserable if not some are downright unfriendly. There’s no where very good to get a meal and it is very expensive for what you get. We brought the refillable cup again this year as we thought it was good value for money but any kind of soda is watered down! Coke Zero is about 1/4 syrup and 3/4 soda water, same for anything else you try and therefore we didn’t bother renewing it for a second time. We visited 2 days out of our 14 day trip and can do both parks in 1 day. We plan on visiting again when the new park is open and I hope by this time universal can pick the standards back up again!

    Best theme park visited yet.
One of the best theme parks I have visited. Tickets are a bit expensive and so are the food but that doesn’t matter when you see your kids have so much fun and enjoying the visit.

A Great Theme Park Even If It Is Too Expensive
After a somewhat disappointing visit to Islands of Adventure, we had a really good visit next door at Universal Studios Orlando. We learned a valuable lesson: visit theme parks before schools are out in late May. Other than paying $141 for each ticket, we enjoyed USO more than IoA for the first time! We arrived at 9 am again, and it was a great morning. It was in the upper 80’s, but the cloudy skies made it feel more like the 70’s. There were hardly any lines, so we quickly got on every ride. The highlight of the day was the very first ride you come to, the Ripride Rocket. Like the Hulk and VelociCoaster, it is not for the faint of heart, but it’s another great ride. One in our family likes the Mummy ride the most. We didn’t make the time to review the USO restaurants like we did IoA, so we went with Mel’s Diner, which is decent theme park fare. We enjoyed chicken strips, a hot dog and a salad for $56, a little higher than and not as good as Three Broomsticks the day before. $4.50 for a soft drink and NO free refills is frustrating! After lunch we went to the Jason Bourne Stunt-tacular. It’s a good show and a nice break from the heat. When we came out of the theater, the clouds were gone and the heat returned. As I said about IoA, we wish they had more shade and more places to sit. A second visit to Kings Crossing and the world of Harry Potter was just what we needed. It really feels like you are in the land of wizards. Take your kids to see the “show” at Ollivander’s Wand Shop.

Park to Park tickets for at least one day
Get the Park to Park ticket for at least one day when in Orlando. This allow you to take the train between Universal Studios and Universal Islands of Adventure. One direction has Harry Potter’s Hogmeades and the other Diagon Alley. If you have a park to park ticket, you can ride the “train” between the two. Each direction gives you a different Harry Potter experience. We love seeing adults and kids riding the train for the first time! Easy transport between the two parks with entertainment along the way.

Rides are great but overall experience terrible. A lot to be done to deliver a great overall experience
We came to Universal from India with a very highll expectations but remain a little disappointed (still in Universal) and writing this review from Amazing Spiderman queue. Issues: 1. It's extremely hot in Florida and it's cruel for kids, elderly and Women to stand for 30 minutes to 1 hour in a long queue. In fact my wife fell sick and she is back to hotel and I am here with my 2 kids 2. App is not that much useful (I am on borderline of calling it useless seeing amazing tech products being buit of India. Folks in Universal and a few engineers may make a lot better version of app including a lot better UX in may be a week's worth ride & if you give it to someone like Aloke/Rajnish of iXIGO, UX gods in India they may do an amazing job) 1. Timing in app vs queue may not be accurate. We came walking to Dr. Dooms free fall yesterday evening seeing wait time of 20 minutes only to find out that actual wait time at gate is 45 minutes 2. They can at least show which ride belongs to which park so that it's clear for a newbie 3. They can also show distance from person's location to ride distance as well 4. At the entrance, they can record height of kids and that may be displayed eligible ride so that for a family it's easy to plan 5. They have made express super expensive ($135/person/day for park to park & unlimited) and for family they can make it a little cheaper as a lot of times a parent need to be with one kid because elder kid wants to do the ride and you just want to go along with smaller kid (so no point buying express) and buying express for 3 out of 4 doesn't makes sense for a well to do but value for money conscious customer and this is reason we didn't buy express) 6. They can give physical maps which are a lot easier and I think Universal Singapore had those 7. They may have a significant more physical and digital signage (including distance) for convenience and they may include 8. Overall, it's a great park for safety, thrill of rides but a very poorly designed park from UX point of view 9. You may have a fun experience while people are waiting in the queues I am still in park and hope by the end of the day I am not as frustrated as I was yesterday and I am in morning. Do better job Universal folks, you are charging a bomb for this experience so not just thrills of ride, aim to deliver a great experience overall to your customers.

Start accepting photos of tickets rather than just physical copies
Previous experiences have been great but every park we went to ASIDE from here accepts photos of your ticket. The world is becoming more digital, and this is not the first time they have not been with the times

Good for adults and kids rides (not for pregnant mothers or babies), Staff unfriendly, overpriced parking, shuts too early.
Visited April/May 2024. The park has changed in the last 5 years since we last visited due to covid. The kids area near E.T is currently having a makeover for Shrek land so our baby could not ride anything there. We only rode the hogwarts express and carousel in Dr Seuss land. We also watched horror makeup show, and the new Bourne show...much better than the old Terminator one. The majority of rides have a family room for child swap but you do need to queue with your party in order to get there. Also not all family rooms have a changing facility. So your best bet is changing in the toilets. Also universal sells a nappy (size 3) & wipes pack for approx $7, the first aid rooms dont supply them. The food in universal isnt cheap unless you eat at a starbucks or a smaller outlet. I had a ham & swiss baguette from starbucks for $7.99 so fairly good value. You can bring a flask to universal to fill with water or if you have the refillable cup you can purchase in the park, you can refill with pop beverages at any coca cola machine which are placed around the parks. (if you want to reuse it a different day you need to pay to do it). If you plan on going on the hogwarts express with a pushchair make sure not to leave valuables on it as it is stowed separately whilst your on the train. Also sometimes it works out quicker to walk to another park than waiting for the hogwarts express as they frequently have delays. The staff at universal are abit rude not like disney which is a shame. Most days universal shut 7pm, 6pm on a friday. Islands of Adventure open till 8pm, 6pm on a friday. Unlike disney you felt like you had to spend the whole day there to make the most of the days parking as it is $32, free after 6pm (mostly used for citywalk).

Canadians and non Harry Potter lovers Beware!!
Tried to purchase tickets for 2 days for 9 of us for Christmas. Tried twice on the website using 2 different Canadian credit cards, and even though my credit card was charged, poof, the orders disappeared into thin air. Took over a week to clear up both times and the Universal agents were condescending and actually told me I must be over the limit on my credit card! I then ordered using an alternate method and had no problem. One of the Universal agents told me their website has problems all the time. While at the park (Universal Studios) we tried to buy lunch at one of the larger venues. Once again the Canadian credit and debit cards were declined and resulted in the cards being locked. The lady at the payment stand said it happens all the time on Canadian cards. Funny when we called the banks there was no issue with the cards. We found Islands of Adventure slightly better than Universal Studios. The Harry Potter sections take up the majority of the parks and are crammed in a very small area. If you are not a Harry Potter fan, you will get frustrated at trying to navigate through the crowds. If you are lucky enough to catch a character during their two minute photo session, be prepared for a long lineup. There are very few shows to view and the majority of the rides and shows are all motion simulation. It pales in comparison in every aspect to Disney. This park is not conducive to the exorbitant prices they charge. Save your money and go somewhere else.

    Worst Birthday Ever
I went to Universal Studios on my birthday and it was horrible. The lines were long and my legs were aching just after the first queue. The food did not taste the best. We didn't bring any extra food so i had to tolerate it the most I could but it made me feel sick to my stomach and i had to go back to my hotel after only being in the park for 3 hours when we planned to be there for the whole day. It was the worst birthday ever and I regret going. I was very disappointed as my mother went last year and enjoyed herself.

Great way to finish out HighSchool, Celebrating at Universal Orlando!
Universal/Islands of Adventure/City Walk - Overall Trip Review: We just went to Orlando for a long weekend and spent 3 days in UO and IOA and had an amazing time! My husband and son both got their record high scores in Men in Black, which was a highlight for sure!!! (715k and 440k). We ate/drank at Finnegans, Confisco, Vivo, Antojitos, Fat Tuesday, Margaritaville, The Kitchen, The Palm, VooDoo donuts, also ordered room service (HR has awesome room service 24-7) and did the Great Escape Room. City Walk - Escape Room - We did the Great Escape, Back to the Future on City Walk and had so much fun!! We ended up earning a perfect 16/16 score and finished the escape in under one hour. It was so much fun, we will definitely go back. Weekday daytime rate was $49.99/person, non private. However, we didn’t have anyone else join our group. **Razz checked us, presented us with Pins, in and helped to provide an overall excellent experience. Highlights/Lowlights on food on City Walk/Parks/Hotel: Vivo on City Walk - Good but not as great as years past. We had a caesar salad, mushroom flatbread, and chicken parm. Service was great and friendly. Food was good. Finnegans at Universal - Consistently good food and service. We had the cheese dip and Bavarian pretzel sticks and a chicken sandwich. Cheese tasted a little burnt, but it was ok. Confisco at IOA - We don’t like that they took seating out of Backwater Bar and made it grab and go. They changed the hummus from years past. Now it’s served with toasted pita and lavash crackers and it used to be served with a giant fluffy hot pita (the size of a personal pizza) that you’d rip and dip. It was ok, but not worth re-ordering imo. The server was great, friendly, and personable. Antojitos on City Walk - Chips, Guacamole, Salsa as a starter (yum!) a chicken chimichanga and mushroom tacos as entrees. The tacos were delishe with a variety of mushrooms and packed with flavor but a little too salty. I’d know next time to ask for no added salt. Service and staff were amazing!! Live music. **Arianny was our server and was super sweet, friendly, helpful and inobstrusive. Exactly what you want in a server. others that were really kind and friendly - Chayanne, Obed and Ernst at Hist/Hostess stand. Fat Tuesday on City Walk - had a frozen drink that was delishe (orange and pina colada mixed - tasted like a creamsicle), bartender seemed like she hated her job. I would have had another, but the vibe was bad. Margaritaville on City Walk - Consistently good but nothing great or bad to report. Staff was friendly. Fun atmosphere. We left full. The Palm at the HardRock - Has a Happy Hour at the Bar with special priced drinks and bar bites. Had a snack and some really good drinks (Metropolitan, a cousin of the Cosmopolitan), then went back for a 3 lb lobster and mashed potato. Fantastic food and the service was great. Highly recommend, however, it’s not for budget conscious. **Amy was our bartender and was a great conversationalist and server. Big props to Amy for a job well done. The Kitchen at the HardRock - Consistently good but nothing great or bad to report. Nice staff. Good portions. The do have a Sunday Brunch buffet with bottomless mimosas and bloody's, but we did not do brunch this time. I think its about $50/adult. VooDoo Donuts on City Walk - we stopped here on our last day on our way out of the parks. There was no line and we were going to get 6 donuts. When the cashier rang me up it was $22.50. However for $30, you get a bakers dozen (13). They allowed me to swap out up to 2 donuts so I was able to get the 6 I was already ordering anyway + 7 more for just $7.50 more. It was a great bargain and gave us a ton of donuts to try and bring home. The HardRock Hotel - biggest draw is Express pass and proximity to the park (easy breezy 5-10 min walk). The hotel itself is nice, has a great pool area and good restaurants, not to mention it smells great. Staying at the HardRock for 4 nights/5 days was amazing, at ~$500/night (FL resident rate), it provided our family with Express passes which were running $225-250/pp per day, purchased at the park (huge value)! The hotel paid for itself in Express Passes. The Rooms are okay, the bathroom set up is weird and the door practically opens into the toilet. There is a tiny wall mounted sink in the toilet/shower room with no soap/towel set up, the toilet paper is mounted on the wall practically under the wall mount sink, and then another sink with counter top and full set up outside the toilet room. It was just not super functional. There was always a lot of housekeepers around which was great, if you needed something. But there was also a lot of staff noise/conversations in the hallways that were loud. At one point I actually had to ask them to bring their conversation down the hall because their convo woke us up. So they were either talking really loud, or the walls are super thin. Extras: The purpose of the trip was to celebrate our kiddos last day of HS and that he got into his top choice college. I let the HR concierge know this in advance because when we have stayed at Portofino for special events, the hotel has always done something special (ie: a room upgrade, ballon and a special dessert and card in the room, or coupon for ice cream/gelato treats for the family, etc). In this case, the HR gave a coupon for either one donut or brownie dessert at the Kitchen. HR wasn’t as generous as Portofino. **The Names of folks at each place provided exceptional service. However, overall 99% of the staff were great!

Great park; wish some of the rides I went to were “MyUniversal Photos” enhanced…
This is an excellent park. Came to Universal for mostly Harry Potter, but I had an experience with the Minions as well. Only complaint is that, I wish I had my photos taken at Minion Mayhem and Escape From Gringott’s (bought the MyUniversal Photos Package, so I can safely have pictures of me taken while on the ride -personal cellphone photography and videography on rides is banned by Corporate - welcome to Lawyer Land! That’s why MyUniversal Photos exists.), however, those two rides must’ve either had a glitch with their cameras, or they were not MyUniversal Photos enhanced yet. Hope to take another trip here sometime, and maybe those issues can be fixed. Other than that, park was great!

    Universal Park experience
My first visit to a theme park! First thing, the place is pretty big although, I've been told, not as big a Disney. Second, the tickets aren't cheap. You'll easily pay $200 a person for single day tickets to Universal Studios and Island Adventure. Third, be aware of the weather. Even late April/ early May can easily over 30c/86f, so plan accordingly. There's not a lot of shade, so use the shops/rides for the a/c. The park is, however, amazing with loafs of rides just be aware of the potentially long wait times (posted around the park so you can plan which rides to visit better). Tip: each a big breakfast, usually included at most hotels. That way you can try to avoid the very pricey food in the park.

Universal is my favourite of all the parks but this time I felt it had lost some of its sparkle. We went in late September thinking it would be quieter as the kids are back at school, but it was absolutely manic. We waited such a long time for Gringots, nearly 2 hours for a few minutes ride, once we were in the queue it was hard to get out. We went into the hall to get the Hogwarts Express and having waited for over an hour and getting nowhere we asked an attendant to let us out which he did. Food and drink prices are sky high, but we enjoyed apple pie in the diner. It was so hot and crowded and not a pleasant experience. The Bourne show is amazing, we went in twice although we still waited in line for over half an hour. Our bus back was at 7.45pm so we thought we would eat in City Walks beforehand, impossible to get a table at most places. We managed to get into the Italian restaurant although I wish we hadn't as with the tip it cost us over $60 for 2 meals and 2 beers, ridiculous prices. On the plus side while sitting waiting for the bus we saw the Falcon 9 take off very clearly in the evening sky. If we ever go back, it will be January/wintertime.

Unless you spend 450 dollars per person Universal is not worth the money. The lines are way too long and the express pass doubles the regular ticketed peoples wait time. They will let express on till empty and regular ticket people wait even longer. Not for those who need to bring whole family. It is too bad, we spend 350 and was only able to do 5 rides in 2 days. Do 1 day with express vs 2 day park ticket.

What stood out to me was the breathtakingly rude person at the parking kiosk. When tried to help her that I wanted standard parking she said "Are you gonna talk over me or let me finish!". She also chatted to her friends for a while before this keeping us waiting. And all for an extortionate $30 too. The walk from the car park to the attractions is too long with no shade in the heat. The theming is not as good as Disneyworld either except for the Harry Potter section of the park. Painted Snow and 36c heat however seem a little incongruous but the rides there were excellent and the Velocicoaster was astounding. However maybe a day at Universal would be enough if you go. Buy the $50 dollar passes from a mall perhaps. I wouldn't book online again. The $200 plus dollars per person express passes are a rip off and not worth it. All in all, Universal was poor however and not worth the money and the staff have patchy and inconsistent customer service standards.

The three broomsticks inside the wizarding world of Harry Porter was not a good experience. The cashier taking our orders continued to put his fingers in his mouth and bite his nails. It was continuous. Not sanitary at all! He even went to the kitchen and helped with drink preparation. Also, the fruit was not ripe and the bread was very hard and not warmed up for the continental breakfast. Did I want to waste time waiting on a manager so I can tell them about this on my vacation? No. Vacation time is very precious especially at this park with the lines, etc. Just so you know they charge $17.00 each for the breakfast prepared this way. That’s over $70 for a family of 4. There should be better sanitation and better food. The people putting our food and drinks on the trays did not have hair nets. The chefs in the back did have hair coverings, however, anyone handling food needs have proper sanitation guidelines and no one should have their fingers constantly in their mouth. Overall customer service was lacking. I understand the workers deal with a lot of rude and foreign people and some of the employees may be foreign, but a smile and verbal instruction as well as pointing would be considerate to give paying customers. I saw employees get asked where to get something and the employee just pointed. Also why are there not places to get water for free. I understand the corporations need more of our money by charging $7 for a bottle of water. However, dehydration is real and water stations should be included for them to refill bottles they bring. We are annual pass holders and we have seen a digression in the customer service and sanitation in the parks. Hand sanitizer pumps not refilled , some even Torn off the wall, like in the train station. They need more visits from corporate and sanitation to see what’s going on and fix it.

Wizarding World was pretty cool. But the lines and malfunctions were very annoying. My kids couldn’t wait to use the overpriced, interactive wands, but getting them to work was just silly. They stood in line behind other kids who also couldn’t get theirs to work. I talked with other parents who were angry with the wand purchase. I have to say the Ollivander experience was cool (the worker who portrayed Ollivander was awesome). The 3D rides are decent but gets repetitive when almost every ride is similar. Wanted to do Hagrids Motorbike but standing in line for over 2 hours is insane, especially when the ride malfunctions and 2 hours turns to 3. Express pass is way overpriced. Thankfully my kids said they had fun, but that was most likely from me pushing their stroller like a madman through crowds of miserable people.

Just returned from our trip. Not out first time there but probably our last. We bought a three park two day ticket which came with two days free. Turns out the waterpark was closed the whole time we were there so it was a waste! I know now why they are giving away free days and doing prom tickets and that’s because you have to wait hours and hours for rides that just break down. The kicker is that after you wait hours for Jurassic park for example they post a delay make a notification that it will be an extended delay and when you finally have lost all hope and get off the line they don’t even give you a ticket to come back through express. You pay hundreds of dollars for families to waste time on lines and just be disappointed. We had a similar experience on transformers where we waited almost an hour on the line, sat in the seats for the ride and they had us get off because of technical issues and extended delays. On that ride they gave us a paper receipt to use at another attraction. For Hagrids it’s just awful. You are forced to wait almost three hours in a line with no benches or bathroom breaks and just when you think you are close to the end they let massive amounts of people in some secret back door (even though there’s is no express pass available for this ride) and your wait time is extended further. There is another secret line of extra people added to the que after that as well. The Harry Potter area is just so so so crowded it’s unpleasant and hard to appreciate. Yes resort guests get early access and guess what? There are a ton of resort guests with early access with the same idea. They are all about shoving as many people in the parks as possible and don’t care if your standing in lines for hours. I had to voice my concerns with guest services about all of these frustrations and they did their best to make it up to us. It shouldn’t have to be like that if they just delivered a pleasant park experience in the first place.

As a NON - Harry Potter enthusiast that has never read the books or watched the movies, my wife and kid LOVED the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. One of the worst things about the parks are some of the security, etc., staff. One refused to give my teenage daughter a wheelchair for a very sick friend in the park, and also failed to respond to her request in a timely manner - which could have led to her friend becoming extremely ill and/or dead. This is NOT an overstatement, as the friend suffers from life threatening illness that can kill her fairly fast if immediate measures aren't taken. Immediate action was taken by my kid, and other family members. However, what got that security/staff member to get his butt in gear was the next steps my daughter took. As the staff member continued to TRY to berate my kid, she (my teen) decided to kick into theater mode. When the staff member still refused to move, my teen forced herself to cry (even though she was mad as hell!) and made the staff member think that she was about to go ballistic. As that staff member went to get a wheelchair, the other staff member looked at my kid (after realizing she was acting) and complimented her acting skills while he laughed. Lastly, WAY too expensive! I had to pay $29 for two footlong hot dogs. Plain hot dogs.

Universals guests services were able to help fix a ticket glitch on our second day. For some reason our tickets expired. It did take up about thirty minutes of our park time though because they only had a few kiosks open for guest services. The 'early' admission to the parks didn't really apply to everything which was dissapointing. Tuesday was a slower crowd than Wednesday but the lines did move pretty quick. Even for newer rides like velocicoaster. We had to utilize the child swap feature which is better than Disney's ride share program but still inconsistent with each ride depending on security requirements. Harry Potter world was cool but soo crowded, it was hard to enjoy. Also a bunch of inconsistencies when it came to park staff. Everytime we asked someone a question we received a different answer; for the souvenir cups, for entry to the park, for the park hop process. They also still use turnstiles when you want to exit the park which causes a pretty severe backup If you need to shuttle back to your resort. Adventure islands is more entertaining if your looking for thrill rides, universal studios rides are a bit outdated. Still a fun time but I wish it went a bit smoother, considering how much your spending. The price of the express passes were out of this world. Almost 900$ extra for one day for three people.

Whatever you do , dont spend the money to take the VIP tour. We had a horrible experience . We arrives promptly at 830 top start our day but our guide ran late and we didnt actually get on a ride until 10:20 . He was fairly surly . He advised us not to ask what rides we were going on because we would not tell us. We had spend nearly 4k for the experience for our group and we nearly left the tour before breakfast as he made the experience so miserable . I sent an email to the VIP group explaining what had gone on and received a form letter in response

We love going to Universal but we would have gone on as many rides that day if we had only got the express pas. And wouldnt have had to deal with the guides attitude

These parks are excellent. But please invest in ground cover. Walking around these parks hurt my entire body. Also make wand spell casting a separate attraction. People are rude parking their strollers on the icons. We went during non busy time and diagon alley was packed. I understand wizarding world is why you come. But when weekends are less busy something is off. I feel we wasted a lot of money on interactive wands that we didn’t get to use.
