Amazing Cast and Blast on the Snake River
We had a great time hunting and fishing on the Snake River for 3 days. The guides (Peyton and Aidan) were awesome. We caught salmon, countless bass, white fish, and few huge sturgeon. Also had a successful chucker hunt. The camp was comfortable and the food was some of the best we have ever had (thank you, Aubrey). Our family created some great memories and would highly recommend MRO to anyone wanting to experience jet boating in Hells Canyon.

      Boisterous water fun
We had a great family group join 2 of us. Aiden was our river guide and was friendly, fun, and instructive He ensured we all had a blast - and only tricked a couple of gullible ones into thinking there was a hot spring to check out with a short swim. Well done!

Never had a better day 100%
Aden, our guide, had a great sense of humor. He kept is all engaged in conversation with each other. By the end of the trip I didn't feel like I was with strangers. I shall do this again next year.

      Fantastic River Excursion
My sons and I took a five-day, four-night rafting trip on the Salmon River in late July. I wouldn't classify it as a vacation, but more of an adventure. From beginning to end, the trip was highly organized and well run. The guides took fantastic care of us. both on the river and off. The meals at camp were excellent and the team always went the extra mile to make sure we were having fun. The scenery was phenomenal throughout the 90-mile trip and we saw a lot of wildlife along the way. This was unquestionably one of the very best trips we've ever taken and I would highly recommend to anyone that loves the outdoors, camping and wants some adventure.

      Highlight of the trip
Highlight of our trip to Idaho. Ryan as a guide crushed it. He tailored the trip and our route to maximize fun and excitement. If you’re on the fence about going, DO IT. You won’t regret it.

      Buy trip insurance- no refunds
I bought my first camping experience, a 3-day camping rafting trip last minute, 5 days before leaving as my schedule freed up. This had been on my list for years. I was not informed on the phone by Brenda that there was an option for travel insurance ir given any suggestion to procure, she gladly took the $1100 and said an email would follow up. I received an email of details 2 days before I left and a note about travel insurance was embedded amongst many other details. I arrived mid an official heat advisory and heat wave. I got dizzy walking down the street in 105 degrees. I called Brenda and asked for a credit for a future trip or refund. There was no way I could do 3 days in this heat 100% outside. I asked if I could do 1 day and come home if it was too much - no. My options was pay for a helicopter lift or flag down a jet boat, pay them and then pay a guide 2.5 hour round trip to pick me up. Those were my only 2 options I had to walk away from $1100 or risk being stuck in the wilderness of Hells Canyon during a massive heat wave. No consideration of Act of God.

      First Time Rafting
We did a two day trip on the Main Fork of the Salmon River in early August 2023. Weather was comfortable 85 degrees, and the river was running at about 7,000 CFS. The trip was wonderful. The guides were knowledgeable and wanted to share their obvious love of the river and the land. The guides were supported by the company with a high level of organization. The food was great, and they were well able to adjust for dietary restrictions. Camp sites were well planned and quite comfortable. This was my first rafting experience, and it could not have gone better.

Five Day Main Salmon is a Must-Do!
We had a wonderful memorable five day trip on the main Salmon with an outstanding crew of professional, attentive and friendly guides. We camped on beautiful sand beaches where the guides planned fun for the kids, relaxation for the grown-ups and three delicious meals every day. We toured historic sites, hiked a little, climbed to a hot springs, paddled kayaks and learned tons about the river. We saw big horn sheep and lambs, otter, mink, a baby black bear, eagles, chukar, grouse, osprey, deer and fawns, bass, northern pike minnows and merganser ducks. A one-night stay at China Bar lodge was perfect. The white water was super fun and our guides kept us safe. Jenn was an excellent team lead and Kate was especially fun -- so ask for them :-)

Main Salmon River (6-day - 5-night rafting trip)
This was a spectacular trip and lived up to all and beyond any expectations we may have previously had. This was a bucket list trip for my wife and I, and without a doubt, the river and scenery were magical, but our river guides with their professionalism, knowledge, and enjoyable demeaner put this trip over the top! Big THANKS to Jen, Cory, Nick, Brandon, Tom, Tyler, and Bobbie. They worked diligently to make sure everyone was having a good time and I was personally impressed with their attention to all the little incidentals. They hardly stopped working the entire time while we relaxed and lounged in comfort. The meals were the best I’ve ever had in a wilderness setting. We enjoyed everyone we met on the trip and that was just another added bonus to an already pleasant experience. It was a vacation we will look back on with many fond memories. I would highly recommend MRO and their staff if you’re looking to have one of the most thoroughly enjoyable times of your life!

      5 stars!
Amazing trip! We were on the 6 day/5 night Main Salmon rafting trip. Awesome white water, beautiful scenery, lots of interesting stops for along the way hikes & history, super gorgeous camp sites every night, and of course a really great group of river guides that made us amazing meals, took us down some awesome rapids, and were super fun to be around. The food is awesome and you really don’t lift a finger. Our group had some dietary restrictions and they were super accommodating. Jen was our lead, Brandon, Tom, Nick, Corey, Bobby, and Tyler are super knowledgeable, fun, and experts at what they do! This was my family’s second trip with MRO and it really felt like a vacation. Can’t write this without a shoutout to Aubrey at China Bar, too! That stop was a real treat with a shower and a real bed for night 3! Negatives: none. This trip was awesome. My husband said he could go a few more days and we were all sad to say goodbye. Tips: read the packing list! It’s super fun but of course you need to be prepared for backcountry and weather changes. A sarong to cover your legs (and dip in the water when it’s hot), long sleeved quick dry Sunshirts with hoods, and a hat are a must.

Very enjoyable day on the water.
Learning the history of Hell's Canyon from our guide Brian...his knowledge base made it enjoyable and extendeded our education the the area...the fishing was great especially watching our husbands (3) pulling the Sturgeon in then releasing it...Lunch was just right and we had plenty of room to move around on the boat...we will be back for another trip...Thank you

      Sturgeon vs the Boys
Brian was an excellent guide! Patient, accommodating, experienced, and friendly! It was a great time, even though we cancelled our Salmon fishing (due to mother nature). Would definitely recommend Mountain-Prompt, equipped and clean...

Couldn't have had a better day in Hell's Canyon!
The six of us had a great fishing trip in Hell's Canyon with Brian! Even with very high river waters we managed to catch a lot of bass, a trout and even brought in a sturgeon! Brian knew so much about the beautiful canyon and was very informative. He helped us bring in this giant fish for a photo and then it was released. A deli lunch was provided and it was very good. Very nice boat with lots of room. We plan to return again for another fishing trip!

We did a full day trip on the Salmon River with our children (1 teenage and 2 adult). Office is very responsive and accommodating and guides are very knowledgeable and well trained. There was a great mix of larger, exciting rapids and floating the river to dry out. The scenery along the Salmon is absolutely incredible! Ryan was our guide and did an amazing job filling in the floating time with stories! Excellent equipment, very professional, lunch was fabulous (excellent food and plenty of it). We would definitely recommend this trip with this company and will be returning when we are in the area. Side note: there was another family floating in another boat with our trip on their second trip this summer (repeat business speaks volumes).

Great day trip on the Salmon River with Sierra as our guide. Water levels very low but Sierra still made it fun and had us all paddling and swimming to stay cool in the 100 degree weather. The lunch was very thoughtfully prepared by all the guides for a group of over 60, with many different options.

I really want to rate this outfit well but they missed out on some important stuff.

    1. On a 5 day trip the forgot the family tent for us even though I called twice.

    2. On the 5 day trip they forgot one of our passengers in mcall so we lost most of our first day and had very few stops the next few days making up those days.

    3. On a half day trip they brought the 2 double kayaks for my family but didn’t bring enough helmets and kayak paddles. Who brings a double kayak but no helmet or paddle.

In both cases the guides blamed the manifest for the lost gear and the airline for the lost customers.

When I talked to them at the office, they didn’t care. That is honestly the worst part.

We spent 12k with these guys and didn’t get all of the trips we paid for. I’m forced to assume that Mountain River Outfitters will take your money and doesn’t care after that.

Our family just came off a 5 day rafting trip on the Snake River with Mountain River Outfitters and I can’t recommend this company enough. The guides were extremely professional, the food was incredible, and the campsites and spots that we stopped at throughout the day were amazing. What made our trip especially memorable were the pronominal guides. Their knowledge about all things rafting and the surrounding countryside made us at ease and enthusiastic about rafting in general. In addition, all our guides were amazing with the children on the trip. Our kids especially loved all the evening campsite games and activities that they organized. This was our families first rafting trip ever and because of the fantastic experience we had, it won’t be our last. We are so grateful for such fabulous memories.

We just got back from the 4 night/5 day Main Salmon rafting trip. This outfit is top notch. Our guides were truly wonderful professionals, but also really fun to hang out with! They played with our kids, played with us, made us incredible food, taught us history along the trip, and more! They own multiple properties along the river, including a chance to sleep in beds and take a shower mid-trip! All the gear is top notch, newer, clean, and well maintained. They had various ways we could go down the river, from the main rafts, to inflatable kayaks, etc. We brought our 7, 9, and 11 year old daughters and were a little nervous about how that would work out, but we always felt safe with our expert guides. Might be the start of a repeated family tradition!

The MRO experience is so much more than a rafting trip. We did a 5-day float trip on the Main Salmon and lucked out with an amazing crew (Wyatt, Riley, Elliot, Jenna, Ernie). Aside from the amazing views and rides down the river, our experience was enriched with incredible wildlife, history lessons, delicious food, and much more. I cannot recommend the trip with MRO enough. Special shoutout and thank you to our crew! We can't wait to float with you again!

My Son and I (39 and 72) did the 'River of No Return' 6 day raft-kayak trip on the Salmon river. Seth and the crew were amazing! Great guides and exceptional cooks! This trip should be experienced by everyone at some point. Many bald eagles, otters and dozens of mountain sheep. The kayaks were there for those that desired to run the rapids in them. Incredible scenery. Experience of a lifetime!

Enjoyed the full day rafting and the guests on the boat. The guide was exhausted from justing having finished a 7 day trip. End of season and poor attitude. At lunch there was no hand sanitizer and both guides proceeded to touch all the lunch meat and cheese and put them on a platter for us to eat. No bathroom or port a potty available during the trip and was not mentioned on the website.

My family and I went on the 3 day rafting trip down Hell’s Canyon on the Snake River. We had an amazing time! Our guides: Ryan, John, Tim, Kendra, Kyle, Ray, and Chris made the trip memorable and fun. The beauty of the canyon is beyond description and well worth the trip alone. But the icing on the cake was the fun on the water, in the water, and through the rapids! We had the option to stay in the raft or branch out into duckies or a paddle board on the second and third day. It was full on fun! And coming into camp at the end of the day with the tents and food already prepared for us was awesome. Because of the guides, the service, and the fun, my family and I want to do this trip again!

Guides are experienced and will give you the kind of white water rafting you want. They can get you wet or try to keep you as dry as possible - but you will eventually get wet. Great lunch was provided for the all-day trip. Ask for Nick. Good outfit!
