        Perfect day with Gordon
Gordon was a "fill in" as Hugh was busy with other guests, and GORDON WAS PERFECT! We totally loved the day, his stories and the stops. He helped us to understand the area and its people. When he learned that one of us was a student of Stevenson lighthouse history, he detoured to visit one. We can't thank him enough for a fantastic day!

        The tour that never was
A first for us a 5 star review of an event that never happened! We were booked on a tour with Hugh, had super quick communication to book the tour, and subsequent clear follow up emails about meeting place from our cruise ship etc. Then we arrived off Stornoway, got up at 5am to make sure we got the first tender ashore only to find the Captain had cancelled as the swell was too bad. We phoned Hugh to advise him of our non arrival and he was charm personified, and we’ve even had a follow up email about the tour that never happened, from someone whose day's income had disappeared. Thank you Hugh for being a true Hebridean gentleman. If the pre tour was this good goodness know what we missed.

        Great tour of Lewis
We really enjoyed our historic tour of Lewis with Hugh. He took us to many places we wouldn’t have known to go to. Each stop telling us about the history of the island and about island life itself .

This tour still lives with me everyday!
I'm not great at writing reviews... even when I think I'm going to do it straight away, I struggle with capturing my immediate feelings. But I spent two days touring with Hugh in late April 2019, & it has resonated with me every day since. As an independent traveller, especially a woman on your own, you really have to lean out there & trust the people you book with. Hugh was super on email, giving me so many tips in my planning stages well before I got to the Outer Hebrides. It was a dream for my whole adulthood to visit these phenomenal isles. Hugh showed me so many amazing places, told great stories about the history of the isles, gave me beautiful cultural & local insights, handled my first ever 'Ceilidh' hangover with kindness & humour, & shared personal stories. I never would have gotten any of that from some bus tour from the mainland. On one of those days, we saw more dogs than people - now that is a magical place! Hanging on my wall is my beautiful 'Steornabhagh - Eilean Leodhais' poster... & it reminds me every day, I've been to one of the most wonderful places in the world... & a really neat guy called Hugh showed me around like we had known one another for years!!

Hugh is a Great Guide and the tours Wonderful.
In September 2019 I did three tours with Hugh the Lewis, the Harris and the Uig and Great Bernera Tours. All of them were fantastic. If you do not have a car this is the best way to explore the Islands. There are buses but there are long waits in between and this makes visiting more than one place properly in a day tricky ie the Blackhouse at Gearranan. Also you would not get to see the beautiful places off the beaten track where the buses do not go. We were out between 5 and 6 hours on each tour and having pretty good weather helped.Hugh had a nice little people carrier and the most people I had on my tours was four.Hugh was an excellent guide. He was informative, friendly, fun and with lots of lovely stories of his life in Stornoway.I definitely want to go back to Stornoway again and I would do Hughs tours again for sure.

        Hugh is the best guide!
I took my mom on a trip to the Isle of Lewis and Harris in May and booked a tour with Hugh so we could see the most of both. This tour did not disappoint!! We always had so much time at each site and never felt rushed. Hugh is very knowledgeable about the history of the isles - very detail oriented to give us the best experience possible. 100% worth every penny. Hugh was also great with dropping us off an our Airbnb which was a bit off the beaten path after our Lewis tour and then picked us up there the following morning prior to our Harris tour. We could not have asked for a better experience or a better tour guide.

        Excellent and Personal
I did the Harris trip with Hugh a couple of weeks ago and thought it was absolutely excellent. There were only three of us on the trip so it felt very personal. Hugh himself was extremely amiable and gave lots of information about what we were seeing. I was keen on getting some nice pictures for my blog (I’m not allowed to put a link unfortunately, but just Google ‘Feldore’) and the fact that Hugh would stop off at particularly photogenic spots was a big plus for me. All in all, an excellent day out - and the fact that we got beautiful weather was a bonus!

Amazing day trip to Isle of Harris
Amazing, amazing, amazing day trip spent with Hugh, the tour guide, around the Isle of Harris. Hugh was such a wonderful tour guide and an incredibly knowledgeable person. He was so friendly and was certainly the highlight of our holiday. He was even willing to backtrack en route so we could capture this photo of an intelligent sheep. I would definitely recommend booking one of Hugh’s trips, guaranteed not to disappoint. Hugh, thank you so much. Hope to meet you again one day. Maria and Michele (From Wales)xx

Interesting and enjoyable tours of both Lewis and Harris.
This tour company is one of the most informative, fun and all round enjoyable you could go with. Given by local Hugh, you get to explore a wide variety of worthy sites and attractions. Personally I went on the Isle of Harris tour and Isle of Lewis tour, which was good due to the variety of either tour. (The two isles offer quite different attractions.) All the way through Hugh proved intensely knowledgeable and friendly. His tours are also flexible, in that if you contact him in advance wanting to see a particular place, then he can accommodate it. He also does not rush people through the stops, enjoying revisiting them himself. Thoroughly enjoyed my time on the tour.

        Unforgettable Day
Hugh is an energetic , enthusiastic guide of these islands . He took us on a six hour tour of Lewis , we all learnt so much along the way . I really enjoyed his personal stories and his understated manner . As I said at the end of the day, I’ve gone tours in many places in the world but his would be the best . I’d arranged this day without my friend’s knowledge and was a bit worried but there was no need, we both loved our day out in Hugh’s company and the rest of the group. Absolutely marvellous and completely worth every penny. Thank you .

        Unforgettable tour
The ideal tour for anyone who wants experience the island’s history, to see the rippled rock- formations at the Butt of Lewis encircled by diving and soaring seabirds, the gentle white sands at the Port of Ness washed by turquoise waves, be dwarfed by Scotland ‘s largest standing stone, feel and smell the peaty air within a blackhouse and feel the mystery of the Clach an croc stone circle, the stones which seem like human beings. This is all offered by Hugh, who knows the island like the back of his hand and shares it generously with visitors in a kind and professional manner. We also enjoyed the user- friendly registration via the website. We will cherish the memories of this wonderful day.

        Perfect Day for a Tour
Our day tour of the Isle of Lewis with Hugh was incredible. Hugh possessed all the traits of a good guide: knowledgeable, flexible, patient, punctual, pleasant, and a good driver. He took us to some of the best-preserved archaeological site as well as some of the most breathtaking scenery the Isle of Lewis has to offer. I don’t know if he ordered the weather too because it was a sunny day and perfect for all of our photo opportunities. I highly recommend Hugh as your tour guide for the Isle of Lewis. Thanks again, Hugh, for the great day.

All of the tour was wonderful! Hugh is a fabulous guide. My favorite part was the Callendish stones. The black house was super interesting. The beaches were stunning. Absolutely wonderful! My boyfriend loved the cliff top light house from the 1800's and the church from 1 AD. I give Hugh a thousand stars.
