About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- FarAway189298606010 contributionsExcellent and I loved the area in Saint Emillion rrgionBeautiful views of the vineyard, a fab guide Luka (see photo) from Georgia, who has done a wine degree in Georgia then has done work experience in 5 countries including Bordeaux, Francee, Spain, Portugal, and Croatia. Extremely knowledgeable and interesting .Written 15 September 2024
- H P0 contributionsLovely afternoon!!I booked this tour as it was not very long and included wine tasting, the best bit!! You need a car, bike or Uber to get here from the centre. We were stranded afterwards but a very nice couple, luckily also from the UK gave us a lift back into the centre! Thanks Dave, if you ever read this!! The young man who took the tour was very informative and friendly. The vineyard is lovely with beautiful views. The wine we tasted was very drinkable so ended up buying the bottles, good job we had room in our suitcases! They do offer postage at a reasonable rate as their wines are only available in 2 restaurants in Saint Emilion, online and in Belgium. You can stop for a drink and charcuterie board overlooking the stunning scenery too. Definitely recommend.Written 4 September 2024
- Clare Olivia O0 contributionsDon’t miss antasting at a Chateau if you’re in the area!Went with the family - bit difficult if you can’t walk well. Really friendly, informative; generous tasting, great fun - and really original. You can’t buy this anywhere else!Written 14 August 2024
- walnut300 contributionsStunning Vineyard!!Beautiful views, amazing tour guide Tomas. So knowledgeable and open to lots of questions! Lots to learn, tried 3 delicious wines and ended up buying 7 bottles! Would 100% recommended a visit as they also do tours in various languages!Written 18 July 2024
- DanandSyd0 contributionsGreat wine with amazing views. We visited in late February when a local recommend this winery. The service and the tour was definitely worth it and the added information was very helpful. They even called us a cab back to the village because it ended up raining pretty hard. Highly recommend and a great value.Written 24 February 2024
- 6DebB0 contributionsWinery tour & TastingA beautiful picturesque setting with incredible views in a quiet countryside setting. A warm welcome, friendly & informative tour. Great experience seeing both the old and new wineries respecting the difference in winemaking. Our guide was very knowledgeable. The wines were well worth the visit.Written 30 October 2023
- CRMays0 contributionsBeautiful! The scenery is absolutely spectacular and the wine was fabulous! They have 2 areas - one is the original wine making area and the other is newer/automated. They still make wine in both. We got to taste both. This winery has a base of Merlot with other grapes blended. My favorite was the 50% Merlot and 50% Cabernet Sauvignon.Written 22 October 2023
- veronikay20150 contributionsBeautiful views and good winesWe had a gourmet tour at La Croizille. We first started with a tour with Isabella (friendly and professional, the toor itself was quite informative), then proceeded to tasting of several different wines and finished with a cheese and charcuterie platter with great views. Definitely recommended! We had a great time.Written 14 October 2023
- 887riap0 contributionsPoor experIence 😔The guide’s English was hard to understand. Too much in a rush and we clashed with another large tour which prevented us from staying in the old winery long enough to get an understanding. The wine tastings were only for bottles in excess of €50 which is a poor strategy. Overall, it felt like take your money and run.Written 29 September 2023
- MaxwellStone0 contributionsWorth a visit! 🍇We had a great visit and tour led by Paul. It was fascinating to learn about the wine making process and tour the facilities. The wine tasting was fun and enjoyable. Paul spoke excellent English, knew his subject and was happy to answer everyone’s questions.Written 13 September 2023

- Getaway613959792140 contributionsBreathtaking scenery across vineyard with an informative tour and tasting! We were greeted by tour guide John. John was local with his family involved in the business. This made it all the authentic and genuine and he was very knowledeable and we asked lots of questions. The 1 hour tour did not feel rushed and left us time for tasting. Tasting very educational and fun. This is a stunning location with breathtaking views across vineyard. If you have time you can stay longer and enjoy a bottle of wine on the shaded terrace! Wine is available to buy but there was no heavy sales pitch or pressure felt to purchase anything. It was an all round great experience and I highly recommend it.Written 25 June 2023
- 632georgef0 contributionsWasted journeyWe had booked an English speaking tour and because some French people joined the party the guide talked in French. We asked him to speak slowly but he didn’t and he was drowned out by the noise of resurfacing work going on. We only saw one of the two chateaus promised because of these works and the wine offered at the tasting was poor.Written 7 June 2023

My husband and I enjoyed this activity! The view from the site of the 2 castles La Croizille and Tour de Baladoz is just EXCEPTIONAL!! One of the most beautiful around Saint-Emilion, without a doubt! Thanks to our tour guide who was charming and smiling despite our layman's questions :-) We discovered some very pleasant new wines and actually took some bottles home to Belgium! The picnic basket was GREAT!! Honestly recommended!! Starter, main course and dessert, we hadn't imagined. Very fresh, tasty and which feels good after tastings where it is always a little difficult to "spit out" the good nectar!

Had a lovely time on our first wine tour in the region. Our guide was very friendly and helpful, she also spoke good English. The tour itself was just over an hour and plenty of time to learn about the wine making process and region. Picnic was most enjoyable too. Would recommend.

At this chateau be prepared for mass tourism. Unlike some of the other chateaus, the tour is with 12-14 other people. The tourguide was good, but with so many people the tour is less interesting and not personal. We had a picknick. On the phone they confirmed a vegan lunch, but when we got there, all of a sudden the chef never makes vegan lunches. So I got to eat less then half of what others eat, but did get extra glass of wine. My husband had a vegetarian lunch, but that was the regular lunch, minus the meat. So you get less, but pay the same.
We visited also other chateaus (Franc Mayne, Chateau De La Dauphine and Chateau Feely) which I can recommend, but I do not recommend going to this chateau.

Hello,
We are sorry that our wine experience didn't meet your expectations.
The Chateaux you mentioned only offer private tours whereas you booked a group tour at ours. Thus, you accepted to be with other people.
If you prefered a private tour you could have booked our priviledged tour (2 hours, 50 euros per person) which was possible on that weekend even if it was the holidays.
About the lunch, we are also sorry that there was a misunderstanding on the phone. As you can see on our website, we offer a vegetarian option but we don't have a vegan option yet.
Hope you enjoyed the wines that you tasted
Kind regards

Very informative guided tour looking at traditional and modern wine making. Sarah (our guide) was very knowledgeable and spoke perfect English to the group of six on the tour. The tour was long enough to inform, but not too long to get boring. The wine tasting was fun and the picnic on the terrace was also very nice on a hot sunny day overlooking the vineyards. Would recommend.

Amazing trip. Slightly out of town but easily found by car.
Friendly greeting.
Huge thunderstorm meant the wonderful views were not so wonderful initially but cover and umbrellas sorted all that.
Sun came out later as well…
Picnic Lunch was great.
Tour guide was fantastic. Perfect English and really informative. Embarrassed we can’t name check her but thank you.
Really lovely half day start to our visit to Bordeaux area.

A fantastic experience. We were lucky enough it was just myself and my dad on the tour so had a very personal experience. Beautiful grounds across both chateaus.
We walked there from saint emillion town. Was a beautiful 30 min walk surrounded by vineyards.
We also had the picnic which was excellent, all locally made food - 3 courses!
Tour guide was excellent and very knowledgeable

Thomas was a great tour guide - friendly and informative and clearly loves his job! The vineyards are in a beautiful valley and we enjoyed the views with our delicious picnic lunch. The wine tasting was fun and just the right amount of tasting and information. We went with our three older teenage children and they loved it too! Thank you.

I had high hopes for this tour. The 2 wineries are beautiful with one being more modern than most in the area. The view was incredible! Our guide Isabel was amazing. Very knowledgeable and made the tour interesting. Also, our group was fun which made it a nice experience. HOWEVER, the part that ruined the whole thing was the picnic. Not what I expected at all!! We have done picnics at other vineyards in Italy and USA, always with an excellent assortment of pickys and lunch items. This was embarrassing! You check of on paper what you want, then they microwave some mushy chicken or whatever you choose and bring it in a basket. It was awful! I dont think we had more than one bite. I couldnt believe how sad it was. Why microwaved food in Bordeaux??? Had it been better food we would have ordered more wine and stayed to enjoy the view. Instead we ran, leaving it all there. So gross. Dont bother with the picnic. The execution is so BAD.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re glad you enjoyed the visit, the wineries, the views, and the company of our guide Isabella! However, we’d like to clarify something about the picnic: all the food we serve is homemade and prepared by our chef Alexis, using locally sourced ingredients and traditional regional French recipes. Everything is served in vacuum-sealed jars to maintain freshness. Nothing is microwaved—our dishes are cooked in the oven to ensure the highest quality. We take great pride in offering a fresh and authentic culinary experience, and we’re sorry if it didn’t meet your expectations.
We remain available for any further questions or requests.
Best regards,
Château La Croizille
