- mariasT130WF0 contributionsPerfect day trekking at NingalooIan was the perfect guide, full of knowledge, very well organised and professional. The trek wasn't difficult as his plan and stops made it so. A thoroughly enjoyable day where we had him all to ourselves! Landscaped and views so beautiful! I would recommend this trek/day to anyone.Written 15 October 2024
- 453terry0 contributionsAn outstanding day in an outstandingly beautiful locationOur guide Ian is very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna of the Cape Range and provided us with an excellent introduction to the region. We were looking for a chance to walk off the beaten track and get to see some of the elusive wildlife and he really delivered. We didn't walk a huge distance as it was very hot but we saw and learned a great deal,. As well as supplying the equipment we needed Ian also provided snacks, drinks and lunch. Sitting in the comfort of a trekking chair under the shade of a tree with a magnificent view was an unforgettable moment. All this with the added bonus of a kangaroo hopping by on the cliffs opposite. We finished the day with a refreshing swim in Sandy Bay and a diversion to the lighthouse lookout at Vlamingh Head, with whales visible below, A great experience.Written 19 September 2024
- michelet_110 contributionsIncredible 3 day trek of Cape Range and NingalooEast-West Traverse - One of the best things I've done in a long time and the best way to see and experience Cape Range National Park! Ian is a great guide, we had lots of delicious snacks and meals and were supported the whole way. It's a wonderful experience and a brilliant physical challenge - beautifully wrapped up with a cold drink and a snorkel at Turquoise Bay at the end. A reminder of the immense beauty of the region.Written 12 July 2024
- 626cathyb0 contributionsA great day trek !Excellent day spent with Trek Ningaloo! Ian was an excellent knowledgeable guide ensuring all group members enjoyed this experience. Great snacks and lunch was provided while overlooking this stunning area of Western Australia. 10/10 from me ❤️Written 1 June 2024
- Cruiser646877908090 contributionsAn amazing experience to add value to everything else the Ningaloo Coast offersIan is very knowledgeable and adds much understanding of the range and the reef. Apart from that, he is a really nice guy who has taken numerous walks and observations to make sure he offers his clients the best possible experience of the range and its significance. If for no other reasons, take his one-day walk to lunch under the endemic Kurrajong tree, overlooking the back of Yardey Creek. So beautiful!Written 23 May 2024
- bobbydazz820 contributionsSpectacular One Day TrekIan was an outstanding tour guide. His knowledge of the flora and fauna in the area is second to none. He is fully prepared for any situation (we had a shoe blowout that needed running repairs!) took to great vantage points for breaks (with him carrying snacks and water!) With being a small group, he even took us on an extended trek for our 1 day hike (we clocked up nearly 14kms!) We can’t recommend Ian highly enough to anyone visiting the area. Look forward to returning and doing a 2 day trek!Written 10 May 2024
- 294cristyf0 contributionsA unique perspective of NingalooHad the best day out on our 1 day hike with guide Erin. It truly is a unique experience to be able to trek along the Cape Range. Erin made us feel so welcomed. The walk was not rushed and felt we had plenty of time to explore, taking in the breathtaking views of the Ningaloo coastline and diverse wilderness. Erin your knowledge of the area, fun facts on the local flora and fauna and friendly hospitality made our day so special. Highly recommended this tourWritten 5 May 2024
- Extraordinary2907670 contributionsWhat an amazing, unique experience! This was an amazing, unique experience. Ian is an awesome guide sharing his knowledge and passion for the Cape Range. We would not have had the confidence to explore this wilderness without a guide and Trek Ningaloo kitted us out with the necessary gear and took us to places that few people get to explore. The history, scenery and geology of this part of the world is amazing and Ian really brought that to life for us.Written 23 April 2024
- jimmQ9767TP0 contributions3 day E-W Traverse: An Amazing AdventureIf you think you would enjoy trekking in this amazing part of Australia, don’t hesitate, just book to go out with Ian at Trek Ningaloo. It was so good to get a view of the Cape Range Park that is seldom seen. We did the 3 day East-West Traverse: fairly full days with lots to look at. Ian was an engaging, easy-going guide with lots of information on the flora, fauna, geology and history of the area, plus a bottomless rucksack with a constant stream of refreshments. Every aspect of the trip was really well thought through, pre-trip communication was excellent, good equipment was provided, there were well-supplied water and food drops to help out, and Ian gave us a comprehensive photographic record at the end of the trip. A highlight for me was at the end of day 2, after walking down from the Cape Range watershed to the ocean that day, followed by a quick dip and snorkel with some amazing staghorn coral, then sitting with a cold beer (!😊 ) on top of a sand dune overlooking the ocean at sunset, and watching and hearing two humpback whales performing tail slaps. We have lots of other great memories of the trip, and being there at night also added to the experience with stunning night skies and hordes of scuttling ghost crabs on the beach. The whole experience couldn’t be bettered. Thank you Ian! I’ve attached a few of the photos Ian took.Written 8 November 2023
- nilintentum_reliquit0 contributionsA true highlight with terrific guide. Do it!After 7 days in Exmouth we declared this was our highlight. The 6 hour trek was manageable and you were provided with the necessary kit of sticks, gaiters and chairs. Ian our guide was brilliant and it would not have been the same experience without him. He did a superb job looking after weaker group members throughout. Bravo Ian Bravo! The dip at the jawdroppingly stunning Sandy Bay was the perfect end to a marvellous day. Thanks for the vote if you found this review helpful.Written 30 September 2023

Would highly recommend the experience.Written 8 September 2023

The 2 day trek was perfect for seeing the beauty of Exmouth in its entirety. Favourite parts were watching the sunset on day 1 and a run down the dunes and swim in the sea on day 2. Definitely a must when visting Exmouth. Can't wait to come back and do another trek next time. Thanks Ian!

A really fantastic way to experience Cape Range NP & Ningaloo, with stunning views of the reef and range as you traverse through a variety of habitats. The trek is well organised and at a great pace. If you can carry a pack (12-15kg) I highly recommend the overnight experience, if not definitely still join a day trek!

What an incredible two days!! I’ve just returned from the Sunset Reef & Range Overnight Loop. This was a unique trekking experience….prepare to be mesmerised by the deeply incised, burnt orange-red coloured canyons of Cape Range meeting the stunning turquoise-blue waters of the Ningaloo Reef located on the western cape of Exmouth, Western Australia. The scenery is nothing short of breath taking and the feeling of getting away from it all is both revitalising and energising.
Guided by the wonderful and insightful Ian Vickers, this is a must do activity for your next visit to the region. This trek definitely has it all, from watching the spectacular sunset overlooking the Indian Ocean with wine and cheese to observing the whales frolicking at sunrise and finishing up snorkelling on the reef.
With a deep knowledge of the local flora, fauna and geology, Trek Ningaloo certainly delivered on their promise for an unforgettable adventure. And to make it super easy, Trek Ningaloo provided all the hiking gear including backpack, walking pole, gators, tent, sleeping gear, food, door-to-door pickup and drop off. The experience was seamless from start to finish.

Amazing experience!! Erin and Ian are absolute legends and took us on an awesome trek. Their knowledge of the routes, local area and wildlife is fantastic and I learnt lots on our adventure. It was great to be immersed in nature in places where few people have been before. The views were epic and we covered so many terrains of the Cape range national park from pindan to bush, gorge to dunes! I can’t recommend this tour enough - incredible experience and a wonderful way to experience Ningaloo terrestrially. There are as many treasures on land as there are underwater in this beautiful part of the world.

An amazing experience. We have lived in Exmouth for 20 years and have never experienced the range perspective like this. The tour was fantastic, Ian is a great guide. The tour is so varied and well planned, the pace was great for our group. The rest stops were timed perfectly and we never felt rushed! If you want a totally unique experience, this is it!

Very well organised trek at a relaxed pace, allowing us to absorb the stunning scenery and wildlife. We loved sleeping under the stars, in a spectacular, isolated location with a full moon rising. Special memories.

We had such an amazing experience! Camping up high on the magnificent range overlooking the beautiful Ningaloo reef was a real highlight. The view from camp at sunset was stunning and the star gazing at night was spectacular. There was no one else around, it felt like we had the whole National park to ourselves. We spotted whales and many rock wallabies. Ian was a fantastic guide. He is very passionate and had so much knowledge of the area, the history and the flora and fauna. Ian has included so many thoughtful touches to the trek that really made it special.
I would highly recommend this experience !

What an amazing adventure the Sunset Reef and Range Overnight Loop was! We had been looking forward to this trek our entire trip, and it exceeded our expectations! The landscape was just stunning, and portrayed the real essence of Ningaloo - red earth, green shrubbery, white sand, and iconic turquoise waters. We even spotted some kangaroos and rock wallabies, and caught an incredible sunset at the campsite before staring up at the Milky Way sharing stories. Ian was fantastic - his passion, knowledge and hospitality topped off the experience!
If you’re looking for something off the beaten track, we couldn’t recommend this trek more!
Thanks Ian, an experience we will never forget!
