About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 1Rosco10 contributionsWhy bother with a boat! Why mess around for 90 minutes on a boat when you can get there in minutes and see the island and Perth from a totally different perspective. Great fun, another adventure and would definitely recommend it to anyone. It’s the way to do it! James and Angela were excellent pilots and hosts too.Written 8 December 2024
- LMUHK0 contributionsAmazing adventure, stunning scenery, beautiful wine and foodThis is a spectacular trip, a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I went alone but met a lovely group of people and we had the best day ever. The tour starts at 9.30am with a lovely welcome glass of sparkling wine, a safety briefing and then on board the 007-style Cessna 208 Caravan on floats. The scenery on the way to Margaret River is stunning, beautiful coastlines and we flew low enough to see quite a few pods of migrating humpback whales from the plane. Upon arrival we visited Beyond Distillery, where the very charismatic founder Greg led us through a variety of home-made gins and limoncellos. For lunch we visited Aravina vineyard for a wine tasting and delicious lunch. The food took some time to arrive (perhaps only one course would have been better as the serving sizes were enormous!) and therefore we missed our second vineyard but no one was complaining, as the company and food and wine were all outstanding. A beautiful journey home to Perth in the late afternoon sun. Dean from the Swan Rover Seaplanes is very helpful and knowledgeable, and even went out of his way to drive me back to my hotel as the road closures for the running festival meant it was difficult to get back. Overall a highly recommended adventure tour, excellent service, and an amazing way to see Margaret River in one day, if you don't have time for an extended visit. Thank you Swan River Seaplanes!Written 6 October 2024
- gisellebennett20230 contributionsThe way to go!We caught the ferry from Perth and then the sea plane back after a great day at Rottnest. This was a good way to do it. We enjoyed the views on the ferry and were able to experience the thrill of a sea plane ride to finish the day off. Everything was handled really well, there was good communication and the sea plane flight was definitely worth it. Thoroughly recommend this as a way to travel to Rottnest.Written 21 May 2024
- PeteRRHH0 contributionsGreat experienceWe did the return flight to Rottnest . Flight time was changed to an hour early which worked out better than original plan and plenty of notice was given. Kirsty was very helpful on all aspects of arranging everything and explaining how to get to the jetty in the morning. Jackson at the landing was excellent and Liam the pilot was great as well, with a good sense of humour. We had to land at the airsrtip on the island which was a bonus as we flew over the whole of the island. Due to the plane not being full we got window seats out and back . I went out in 1970 on a light aircraft and it was great to do it again 54 years later. Just a great memorable experience. Peter and RuthWritten 15 May 2024

- laci b0 contributionsRot-nestRottnest express totally full at 8.45 4 Asian girls arriving last minute sat behind me shouting all the way for 2 hours It's a big island for walking around unless you rent a bike Food restaurants are not cheap and Isola was disappointing spending 53 dollars on one dish and a glass of red mediocre sediments in wine bones in the fish wrong drink delivered etc... Tried to book a seaplane flight with exclusive lunch and Swan rivers aviation cancelled on me just a day so was on a trip when I made this mistake to use this overcrowded ferry services Booked a return ferry but try to get out earlier It's too many people on this place at one time bikes are constantly bumping into you if you are not careful Wish I did Kings Park instead. Only 2 days here Well certainly won't be back again!Written 27 September 2023
- YanOnTheRoadHK0 contributionsMust do experienceFly from Perth to Rottnest Island! Written 7 May 2023
- mick_collins550 contributionsAmazing views of PerthWhat an amazing experience, from check in to disembarking. Booked flight as Christmas present for my daughter during our stay in Perth. The views over Perth CBD, beaches, Cottesloe and Fremantle were amazing. Amazing, friendly staff both office based and our pilot who provided a running commentary. If you are going to do something different while in Perth do this.Written 30 April 2023
- Sundancer470 contributionsReally, don’t miss this when you visit Perth. It’s worth every penny! On our recent holiday in Western Australia we booked a return flight from Perth to Rottnest Island by seaplane. Having newly arrived in Perth, it wasn’t immediately obvious where we should go to catch the flight, but that was easily sorted out by a quick phone call. Once we had found the right jetty on the Swan River, however, we had an unforgettable and quite magical experience. Our reception, the safety briefing and the flight itself were all excellent. The views from the air of Perth, the coastline and ‘Rotto’ on a sunny late-summer day were just lovely, and we felt in vey safe and professional hands throughout. It was one of the highlights of our holiday. Thank you.Written 25 April 2023

- MrsKLC0 contributionsPerfect way to reach Rottnest! This was such a great experience. Our flight over to Rottnest took about 12 minutes. The plane was full and space is tight but it was such a wonderful experience. Fun with fantastic views over the river, city and Rottnest. Taking off from the water was fun and the staff are wonderful. Dean explained everything before we got on the plane and was charming and delightful. On the way back there were only us and three others. Again fantastic views and a wonderfully quick way to leave the island after a long day of biking, walking and a long lunch! Our pilot, Liam was lovely and a very safe and smooth flyer! My husband sat up with him in the cockpit for the return flight and really enjoyed the experience. Highly recommend for a different experience to get to Rottnest. Also the weather wasn’t great for our trip to Rottnest but not too windy so we could still fly. It was totally worth skipping the long and bumpy ferry trip! Loved it.Written 7 April 2023
- Eden545140 contributionsWorthwhile experienceDid the Perth scenic loop down to Fremantle from the river- the view of the coast is one I will never get tired of. Really easy to book and the people were super friendly. They made sure everyone had a window view by using the co-pilot seat. Great attention to safety and the water take off and landing is an interesting experience. Only issue is in the seabreeze their taxi time is really long, which means they can't run flights every half hour as scheduled- something they will hopefully manage to work with given the breezes are a near-permanent fixture in summertime. But they were very nice about the delays.Written 12 February 2023
- Alex H0 contributionsSpectacularAbsolutely spectacular experience. The family flew to Rottnest to celebrate a 70th birthday, it is a day we will never forget. We had to change the date and the staff were wonderful and couldn’t have been more helpful and the pilot James on the day and other staff were also fantastic. A must do for everyone to see Perth from the sky.Written 12 February 2023

We found the booking process streamlined. The staff were highly professional. The flight was incredibly smooth, as were take off and landing, despite a strong wind. The view was spectacular. We would highly recommend the seaplane flight to Rottnest Island.

What a great way to travel Rottnest Island. At assembly point we were greeted by a friendly representative who, after showing great patience, due to a couple arriving late, took us through safety procedures.
We were able to watch plane fly in and land on the Swan Rive and tie up to jetty.
Pilot explained life jackets and organised seating (spreading weight evenly in the plane)
Flew at an excellent height for taking photos etc. Landing smooth. Laughter at plane waiting on tarmac. Geronimo parachuting 🤣. Free bus took us to Thomson Bay.
The only issue was it was not clear in paper work or website where departing jetty was.

I sat next to the pilot and got so many good photos with the cockpit and the island in front of me. It was a bright and warm sunny day when I went and the water was so clear you can see the sealife inside it. The flight wasnt very long and its better to fly into the island than out for those who only want to go one way.

Decided to explore flying to Rottnest Island as an alternative to the ferry and so glad we did. From the initial phone call to the wonderful flight itself the service from the team was exemplary. Flew as 2 families with 5 children between 6 and 14 years and can’t recommend it enough. Spectacular take off from the Swan River and flight over the city before flying over the island. It was all a lot smoother than expected and the kids (and the more nervous adults) all loved it. Thanks to Tonya our pilot and the rest of the team for a very memorable day indeed.
