Our guide let us 'guide' the tour by asking us what we wanted to see. So it was a custom tour based on our interests and questions. Alfred knows everything you would ever think of asking. You learn a lot in just two hours.

We learned so much during our 2 hour walking tour. It was a great way to start our trip to Charleston and introduce us to the local culture, history and attractions. Eric was incredibly knowledgeable and entertaining. As a PhD and history professor, he is well versed on so many subjects. He could have taught a class on each building we passed. We sought out a tour guide who would focus on the facts without sugarcoating the good and the bad including the legacy of slavery. The small group size meant we could ask lots of questions including getting recommendations on where to go the rest of the week. We were glad we connected with Eric at the start of our visit to Charleston.

This was an excellent tour led by Eric who has a PHD in History and teaches History at the Citadel. His knowledge and passion for the history of Charleston and American History in general made for a very informative and fun experience. Limiting the tour to a small group only enhanced the morning. We would highly recommend this tour for anyone who wants to learn how Charleston became established and the role it played in shaping the history of South Carolina and our country.

This tour was not only informative and fun, but also a great activity to do when first arriving to town. Eric, our tour guide is the real deal and his knowledge and love of Charleston is engaging and in my opinion captures the essence of the city.
My husband and I wanted an overview of Charleston and the historical events that had taken place there as well as to see some areas that we may not have discovered on our own. Taking a tour often gives insite on historical tidbits that we would not have known nor been able to guess. Walking tours in general take you into special places that are often not accessible by bus or transport.
I can't recommend this tour enough and the best part of it was Eric. Having a professor of history and one that has his advanced degrees on the history of South Carolina makes for a pretty unique tour experience. Thanks Eric!

My mom and I took the Charleston Old Walled City Historical Walking Tour with Eric as our guide. Not only was the tour fantastic, Eric was fantastic from start to finish. Eric’s expertise on Charleston and the architecture of the historic downtown area was amazing. He was able to answer all of the questions of those on the tour and made us feel like the tour was one-of-a-kind. Charleston is a beautiful city and this tour made it where both my mom and I want to come back! HIghly recommend this tour and this company!
