About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- DARRENP5580 contributionsBest Walking Tour in Charleston, SCI booked with Jwalk Tours based on the reviews. I read at least 40 and there is nothing but GREAT things to say about Jwalk, and now I know they were not wrong. You cannot delete bad reviews, so if there are none, this is a solid company. Johnathan is the owner and your tour guide, and he was easy on the ears and enjoyable to listen to. He draws you into his world as if you were living there when the cannon was going off. We went on 1/17/25 at 10 am. It was a cold morning, and we lucked out and had a private tour, which made the tour even more enjoyable. He let us all know he encourages us to ask questions, but he asks that we wait until we break, and now I know why. For almost every question we wanted to ask, the answers were already coming within 12 minutes. I tried to think of questions he had never received before, and they were all answered in due time. I laughed, the pace was perfect, and with so many stops to learn something new, there was no real need for a traditional break. You also meet up at a coffee shop beforehand, which is nice if you want to fuel up or have something warm in your hands when it is 40 degrees out. He is very knowledgeable, and we had an amazing time. We have already referred him to other guests from our hotel, Meeting Street Inn, which was also amazing. Until next time, thanks again, Darren, Daniella, Terry & John.Written 20 January 2025

- harryhG1357HE0 contributionsSuper Tour11/12/24. Nine people on the walking tour. Very informative, very personable, never rushed us. Actually got an extra 1/2 hour. Did three carriage tours before but would recommend this one over them. I would highly recommend this tour. Harry and Terry.Written 12 November 2024

- billaR8572DI0 contributionsExcellent walk in CharlestonJonathan gave an excellent tour. He provided a lot of insights into the city of Charleston. He was showing the highlights and was compassionate about the city. It was wonderful meeting Mildred the Gullah basket lady, seeing the location of the oldest theater in the United States, and learning about the history of the city good and bad. He made an excellent reservation for lunch as well the Blind Tiger.Written 30 October 2024

- Q7635RYwalterh0 contributionsA Professional Tour of Charleston, SCWe found JWalk tours to be absolutely the best in Charleston...so informative, interesting and enjoyable. We got an in-depth description of how Charleston came to be.... to its evolution today all the while addressing the important people who have contributed to its glorious and somewhat dark heritage. Do it first ...you will appreciate Charleston more during your stay. Thanks Johnathon!Written 10 September 2024

- davidaF8795XR0 contributionsBest walking tour in CharlestonThis was one of the most interesting, educational and fascinating walking tours. The tour guide Jonathan is a light hearted easy going extremely knowledgeable history buff. He is a cross between a long time local and a college professor. You learn many historic facts and gain the colorful stories that makes Charleston very special and important in America history.Written 2 July 2024
- Crunchy4090 contributionsJWalk Tours is a GREAT way to meet the city!!My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary away from the kids in Charleston for the first time and one of our favorite activites from the whole trip was the walking tour by JWalk Tours! We started the trip with the tour so that we would have a better idea of what we were looking at as we enjoyed our time in the city and that was defintiely a good move. We were excited about the depth of knowledge of the guide and the outstanding story telling which helped bring everything to life and make it more relevant. We were trying to decide between the carriage tours and another walking tour. We are VERY glad that we settled on JWalk! Highly recommend!Written 28 June 2024
- Stay453410635230 contributionsWonderful tourGreat tour guide. Very knowledgeable about the history of Charleston. Walk was at a nice pace. It was a very hot day and guide made sure to find shade to stand in when he was giving the history of various buildings.Written 22 June 2024

Jonathan Green is gifted at sharing historic facts, culture, and lifestyles in a story-telling sort of way that stays with you. I have been repeating what I learned from him ever since I returned to Northern Michigan. I especially appreciate that he gave me his full- and very well-designed tour, even though I was the only participant. I highly recommend Jonathan, who is passionate about Charleston and the challenges that its men and women faced throughout the city's history.

We fully enjoyed our tour with Jonathan! Jonathan knows Charleston history and culture extremely well - both the good and the bad. He was well prepared with amazing and touching stories of women's positive impact on Charleston. We learned a lot!

The tour was terrific. I not only learned about several amazing women, but gained a ton of knowledge about Charleston as well. Two hours flew by. It is obvious how much Jonathan loves the city and sharing the stories of those who helped make it what is but don't get the recognition they deserve. He covers the good and the bad and the architecture. He was thoughtful and considerate of his guests (finding places to stop to talk which also had places to sit). This was my favorite activity in Charleston and well worth the ticket price. I will highly recommend his tours to everyone!!

Last year my husband and I did the morning Chicora walk with Jonathan and were so impressed we came back this year to take his afternoon Badass Broads Tour. You can tell Jonathan loves what he does based on the stories he tells, the enthusiasm he has for his tours and Charleston, and his passion for history. You would never know that he has only lived in Charleston for 6 years. You would think he has lived here his entire life. They was he brings the Women of Charleston History to life and share how they molded the City. You always hear about the great men that have shaped our Country and cities and now you have an opportunity ti hear about the great women with the history of Charleston woven in. By the end of the tour you learn/realize that Charleston is a woman and maybe the most "Badass" of them all!

The tour was terrific. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable but more importantly was passionate about the city and its history. He told us many interesting detailed stories about some of the amazing women who were so important to the history of Charleston but who are not generally acknowledged. Would definitely recommend it!

Jonathan Green did an AMAZING job on the tour. We really enjoyed his tour and recommend you go too. We went under the tour-Badass Broads-which is the same tour. We had visited the Boone Plantation earlier in the day and that perspective and information was a great base from which we were able to build upon. Jonathan has great passion and loves his job. You will learn a lot and have a great time. Do this tour.

My husband and I were privileged to join the “Bad Ass Broads” tour with Jonathan today. I am a South Carolinian, took South Carolina history, went to college at CofC, and spend a lot of time in Charleston, yet Jonathan offered a wealth of history that I never knew. You will learn about women of the likes of Eliza Lucas Pinckney, the Grimke sisters, Rebecca Brenton Mott, and many more, along with additional rich stories about the history of Charleston. Jonathan is a passionate storyteller and is moved by the stories he tells about the people who shaped this beautiful city. Treat yourself. Strap on your walking shoes. Join Jonathan on a tour. You’ll fall in love with Charleston too.

This tour was hands down top one or two best Torres for me! Jonathan is a great tour guide because he loves the city, he has done his research about the city, and the people that are important to making history, and he has this great enthusiastic attitude. He will make sure that you have a very distinct experience just for you and your group.

AMAZING. BOOK THIS NOW. I've been on walking tours in 10 different countries and this was the best one I've ever been on. The thought and emotion that Jonathan puts into this tour made it absolutely next level. I will be recommending this to everyone I know who comes to Charleston! The range of stories and decades he covered while keeping everything tied together and keeping the whole group comfortable was really next level. We love you Jonathan!!!
I will be keeping an eye out for your book and YouTube releases!
Thank you again for giving us such a unique and in depth look at Charleston.
Ps it's dog friendly!! :)

My husband brought me to Charleston for my birthday. He thought it would be entertaining to take me to ‘Badass Broads of Charleston,’ for my birthday and he wasn’t wrong.
Jonathan Green, the guide was enthusiastic, entertaining and educational. He was so enthralling that we had no idea how many steps we had walked, how much time how do you elapsed and that we were actually back where we had started.
I highly recommend any tours that Mr. Jonathan is the guide of at jaywalk tours
