      Great tour, highly recommend!
Had a great time with Larry on the African-American History & Philip Simmons House Tour! Definitely recommend for anyone interested in learning more about Charleston and the people that call it home. I learned so much I hadn't heard before on previous tours I've done in Charleston. These important stories need to be heard!

Too long for the content/territory covered
Larry was very knowledgeable and his stories were informative. He tended to ramble and the tour should have been 1 1/2 hours instead of the 2:15 it was. Be warned, his appearance is off-putting and if gigantic beards are not your thing, this is not the tour guide for your. He also smelled of alcohol, but he also repeatedly referred to Charleston as a drinking city so that’s on brand for the territory.

Strong Women Tour not so respectful to strong women on the tour!
Interesting subject matter, but our tour guide, Larry, was condescending toward the women in the group and had a hard time staying on subject.

      Unique and Top-Notch Tour
Touring with Larry was like being with a master storyteller, enacting the time period in which the story was set. Learned so much about the often untold or overlooked history of women in the USA. Amazing that in just a few blocks of the city, so many women overcame obstacles and hardships to gain their rightful recognition in society. An insightful and educational tour through a historical part of the city, and in the company of a master storyteller!

      Wonderful tour!
We took several tours this weekend. This was our favorite of them all. Thank you for spotlighting much of the unwritten history of our country and this city. We really enjoyed it.

      Great Experience
Larry did such a great job with our tour. It was just 2 of us and we were able to ask lots of questions and really learn the history. Larry was informative, animated and made our time so much fun. We would definitely recommend this tour!! Thank you.

      Loved this Tarot reading
We had the Tarot card readings at the Irish bar on Church St. Larry is quite a character, definitely an entertainer, and imparted a great knowledge of the history of religions and the history of Charleston during our visit. He has a spiritual energy and deep perception of people, and the Tarot readings were astoundingly accurate. Anyone with an open mind should do this.

      Insightful and interesting.
Knowledgeable? YES! Interesting? YES! Thoughtful of customer needs? YES! Entertaining? YES! If you enjoy history coming alive this tour is for you. The pace is slower, pausing (in the shade) so patrons can absorb the stories told by a masterful, insightful story teller. Unfortunately we discovered him on our final day in Charleston because we would have taken more of his tours. He is knowledgeable on many subjects and shares in laymen’s terms.

Best walking tour I’ve ever taken
I would leave more stars, if possible. Larry was absolutely amazing. The historical facts that I learned were fascinating and almost unbelievable but I was able to verify the most obscure things via Google. If you sign up for this tour you will be very fortunate if Larry is your guide. I would do this tour again.

      Poor booking system
I am highly disappointed. I picked this tour out of all the tours I could have taken today. It’s a nice day out so I walked all the way there which was a 34 minute walk. Once I arrived, I find out the tour has been cancelled. After contacting the tour company, they say they never received the booking from Trip Advisor. However, I received a confirmation number last night. I called Trip advisor and they say this tour company has an issue with their software. Now my whole whole morning and part of the afternoon has been wasted.

      Fraud alert
By providing an honest guide. We were deceived from start to finish. Even when exposed, the so called guide did not own up to fraudulent behavior. After a late arrival, this person who used the name Larry told us he had suffered a bike accident with a golf cart and was in too much pain to walk. We sat for a visit and coffee. He told stories with some herstory content. He also said he needed to leave to visit a doctor and get his bike fixed. We tipped generously, having fallen for his plight. We saw him minutes later, easily riding his undamaged bike . For shame! Such a hustler. All thar brother and sister talk he put out, and how much pain he was in. Should be dismissed.

      Consider
Larry and Ms Rossi were very knowledgeable and great story tellers. Enjoyed the tour of Simmons workshop but walking tour was too much for my mom and we cut the tour short. I would recommend for a younger more mobile group

      RECOMMEND!
This is a little different of a tour--not so much text book history and architecture but focuses on some little known women that had big impacts in the city. Tour guide was high energy and super informative. I found it to be very interesting!

      Not just history.
Selected this tour because the reviews were phenomenal. Houses visited and stories shared were different than those from other tours, which was appreciated. Despite that, it was the least favorite tour of several. There is an agenda.

Larry was a very knowledgeable and engaging tour guide. Take this tour if you want to do a deeper dive on Charleston history. This is not just a collection of interesting anecdotes - you get a story. We passed a Gullah Geechee tour operator who told us that Larry was the only white tour guide that he trusted - so that might tell you something.

Our tour guide, Larry was a treasure! This tour was the second tour my husband and I booked for our only full day in Charleston. The first tour was very good but this tour was exceptional. I. Two hours we learned so much about not only Charleston and it’s citizens but how integral both were to America. Larry was so good I took notes so I could explore more deeply when we get home. Larry, thank you for an inspirational tour.

I have taken many tours, both walking and driving, but have to say that our tour guide, Larry, was amazing. We reserved a 2 hour walking tour and wished it would have been 8 hours. If you find yourself in Charleston, don't pass up the opportunity to hire Larry. An encyclopedia of local and historical information.

Amazing your arranged by our hotel. We had a small group and felt like a personal tour. He was super knowledgeable and answered all our questions.

Yes he did run over on the time but asked us first. We didn’t mind at all.

He also gave great advice about what else to see in town and where to eat.
