We had a fantastic time kayaking! Our guide Leah was very knowledgeable about the area and the views were spectacular! We saw a seal and some funky rays basking in the perfect summer weather.

Epic way to explore the beautiful Okiwa bay. Aaron was a wealth of knowledge and super friendly/easy to deal with. The double kayak had great storage and dry bags were provided for phones, car keys etc. Would recommend bringing your togs for a quick dip in bottle bay. 10/10 cheers mate!

Excellent day out. Was just the two of us and our instructor Aaron. Amazing sunny weather made it all the more enjoyable. Comprehensive (but not long and boring) safety brief at the beginning - we are both novice kayakers so was reassuring to have this before getting in the water. All gear provided. Aaron was a fantastic instructor/guide - very knowledgable about the Sounds' history and wildlife and it was a great guided tour for half a day. Saw a seal and lots of birdlife. Would definitely recommend Sea Kayak Adventures for anyone wanting to explore the Sounds.

My three tween/teens and I had a great morning out on the water with Sean (spelling?). He was great with the kids - listened to their stories and was lots of fun. He is a mine of information about pretty much everything - we learnt heaps and got a hands-on appreciation of beautiful Queen Charlotte Sound. Thanks guys!

We all had a great time out with Sean. Felt very safe in his hands, he was brilliant with the kids 10,13,15), informative in his guiding, and very flexible to cope with wind, changing plans a few times. Would definitely recommend, and hoping to return for a longer trip. Thank you

This was our first every Kayaking experience and we thoroughly loved it. Aaron was able to customize the trip based on the time we had and were picked up from one of the locations. The facility for changing before/after the trip is very clean and comfortable. Our guide Sean was very knowledgeable about the area and it was a fun listening to stories around the area while Kayaking.

We had a half day guided kayak tour with Aaron today and were blessed with the most perfect weather to explore the beauty of Queen Charlotte Sound. Aaron is both passionate and knowledgeable about the area and we were lucky enough to see some fur seals up close and lots of bird life. Would highly recommend Aaron for a fun and relaxed day in the Sounds with a history lesson bonus! We also rented bikes and had a great afternoon adventuring around the trails. A top couple of days thanks Aaron 👌😊

Absolutely stunning day in the sounds! Aaron took us on a half day guided kayak to mistletoe bay and loaned us mountain bikes to cycle to QC track back to Anakiwa. Super friendly and knowledgable guy with a great understanding of his own backyard. Efficient, safe and fun. A must do!

We were four guys ranging in age from 40's to 70's. We were travelling in a family group on a cruise ship which docked for a day in Picton Harbour at the top of the South Island of New Zealand. Knowing Picton didn't offer much in the way of fun we decided to check out a kayaking trip around the upper reaches of the Marlborough/Queen Charlotte Sounds. As is often the case the excursions off the ship were expensive so we booked with Sea Kayak Adventures and organised our own transport to their site which was cheap and easy as the town is very compact. Their shop/office/shed is about 10 km west of the town along a very scenic drive.
After formalities and safety briefing we joined several other travellers and were bussed to the launch site by our guide. Our group were experienced paddlers so we passed on the pre-trip instructions on technique but it looked pretty thorough.
We spent about 3 hours paddling through some spectacular scenery resting occasionally in pristine inlets our along sheltered beaches.
Our guide was along-stay backpacker but knew his stuff so lots of information on topics such as history, geology, vegetation, wildlife and weather in the area. The pace was easy and our guide even towed a couple in their kayak to ensure they stayed with the group.
Back at the beach there was a quick debrief then, as as our driver had a couple of local jobs to do, she suggested she would drop us at a local pub for 30 minutes to slake our thirst with some local beers!! The Queen Charlotte Tavern is a classic and we were made very welcome by the locals. A great place for a few cold ones after a paddle and it's only 5 minutes up the road from the paddle company's base.
All in all a very good, well run, safe and inexpensive adventure.

After a few phone calls when we docked in Picton, we hatched a plan to escape our floating prison (with pool, buffet and dining room) and get a little closer to the water and nature.

Aaron was excellent in helping coordinate our escape, providing a contact for a getaway driver to get us to Anakiwa. We made contact with the driver, code name Helen, and rendezvoused at the set meeting point behind the third green of mini-golf.

We had made it! Four men who had just crossed the Tasman with their extended families were now on land, en route in a magnificent yet nimble minivan traversing the twisting hills towards Anakiwa. Reassured with Helen's firm grip on the wheel, the beautiful countryside whizzed past our windows on our escape route. Despite her youthful appearance, our getaway driver was well informed of the region history, conversing the entire ride to freedom.

Once we arrived at the second meeting point, a well-appointed shed full of adventure possibilities, we had time to reflect while waiting for the rest of our kayaking companions. The New Zealand cricket tour of Australia had just finished with our southern cousins not performing that well, so what better way to pass the time than a few overs in the paddock, show the locals a thing or two :)

Once the full ensemble of paddlers had arrived, we were suited up and briefed, then piled in the transport and headed down to the launch point of our escape boats. The Kayaks may not be the lightest but are well maintained and very stable. So steady and seafaring that the idea of a long paddle home passed silently between my fellow escapees, but alas, a 14 day pre-paid drinks package restrained breakaway plans of freedom.

The paddle was superb, just what we needed to stretch our backs and get away from it all. Our guide Gareth was very knowledgeable and hospitable, even towing some of the less experienced paddlers. We headed out in a gentle breeze hugging the shore to get out of the wind (and not blow our escape cover) and got to experience the beautiful flora and fauna of the sound. After a few hours, the breeze stiffened, the weather extinguishing any plans of paddling home, so we came about and made our way back to the launch point. With our backs to the wind and some excellent paddling, we made great time catching runners surfing most of the way.

Helen was ready and waiting, although she was booked for one extra passenger who was MIA on a hike somewhere. Noticing we were "parched as" Helen kindly offered to drive us down to the local 'Queen Charlotte Tavern' for refreshments. After a frantic search for a non-existent iPhone and the mandatory purchasing of some well-branded paddling merchandise, we set off to rehydrate. We're still not sure if Helen had shares in that country pub, but we waited there for just enough time to consume four rounds of pints and a plate of some of the best chips we have ever tasted.

A great day was had by all, but we were shackled again heading back to the buffet.

Thanks guys.
