Mount Rushmore and Black Hills Safari Tour from Rapid City
From US$179.00
Overview

See Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse, two of the most popular Black Hill monuments in a day on a private tour in a convertible-top vehicle. Tour the monuments before driving out to see them from afar and exploring the rest of the region. Go at your own pace and make stops for photos throughout the day.

What to Expect

Your tour begins with pickup at your Rapid City or Keystone hotel at 9am. Hop in the convertible vehicle and head towards Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse for a 1-hour tour of each site. After visiting the monuments, the convertible opens and you’ll cruise down Iron Mountain Road where you’ll stop to check out the views and take photos.

Next, visit Mt. Coolidge Lookout to see Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, and the Needles from afar. Take a drive down the Needles Highway and stop at Needle’s Eye and Cathedral Spires lookouts for photos. Then, stop at Tunnel #5 to see if you can spot any wildlife in the area.

Make a mid-day stop at Sylvan Lake for a picnic lunch (included) before driving to Custer State Park, the largest state park in the U.S. Drive the 19-mile Wildlife Loop and see if you can spot prairie dogs, deer, elk, antelope, and wild burros. Your guide will be happy to make stops for photos when you like. With over 1,400 buffalo in the park, stand up in the convertible and look down for a bird’s eye view.

Make the final stop of the day at the State Game Lodge and Custer Park visitor center before being dropped back at your hotel at 6pm.
