Just a note. Somewhere buried in their website it probably says they are closed Monday and Tuesday. Of course the Concierge at The Peabody didn’t know. Nothing we could see on the front door. Nice walk though.

There is so many great musicians that have contributed to the industry of rock and soul and blues. This museum barely had any information about major players such as BB King, Billie holiday, Jerry Lee Lewis, etc. A little disappointing but very nice staff.

I went to Rock n Soul Museum recently while on short vacation in Memphis. Location is next to FedEx Forum in downtown. The tour starts with 10 minute or so video about the history of music and impact Memphis has had on it. Then you go into museum starting with early roots of music. You are given a complimentary device that provides details for various exhibits. The museum goes through time in various sections. I like the feature of multiple jukeboxes that you can select songs from various time frames. There was lot history packed into museum. Recommend if you enjoy music and want to learn more about Memphis impact on both Rock and Soul.

We visited the museum as our first stop in Memphis. I’m retrospect, this was an excellent choice. If you only go to one music museum, I would choose this one. The displays are more visually dynamic, the reading is less than the . other museums, and there are plenty of artifacts, photos, and displays to take in. We visited other area music museums and we’re glad we went here first. This museum is more comprehensive and you leave with a broad education of the entire music scene through history.

Being the big blues fan that I am, I could have spent hours here but we were on a timeline. I loved the little movie at the beginning and all of the history. I didn't care much for some of the exhibits (mainly because they were artists I'm not a fan of, though I still appreciate the talent). I was particularly interested in the blues and soul exhibits.

The staff was very friendly, too! On the way out, we dropped in the gift shop. My wife picked up a few guitar picks and I got a sticker to put on my pedal board.

Highly recommend for anyone with an interest in music!

It was very informative. I liked how they had props to go along with the audio and reading. They did spell Bob Seger wrong on one placard. It was spelled right in the jukebox 8 feet away. We were there on a day the Grizzlies were playing that night, so we couldn't park at the FexEx Forum ramp. We called and the employees directed us to a hotel ramp nearby. The employee asked if we were AAA members. I am, so we got $1.00 discount. Every little bit helps.

A must for any music lover. Extremely well done. While Sun and Stax history make them wonderful, if you only have time for 1 stop to learn and appreciate the music, this is it.

Staff was wonderful. We arrived at the same time as a tour. Lora and David allowed us to skip the intro film with the group and said we could come back later for it. They actually found us and showed us the shortcut to the film area. A nice touch because I was so wrapped up in the history, music and memorabilia that I forgot about the film.

There is so much music you can listen to on your personal device they provide that you could just sit and listen for hours to music you’ve probably never heard before (and a lot you have).

Warning. If you are a music lover, this is not a 90 minute event - give it a half day.

This is a fabulous experience, where you can learn so much about a significant piece of our history. You get a device that you listen and go at your own pace. Memphis has contributed so much to our culture, especially music. Well worth it!

Mom and I visited Memphis last week and this was one of our favorite places. The audio tour is great and gives lots of opportunities to listen to music. It really gets you into a good mood. The staff was great. I would do this again because there is so much to take in. It has great displays of the history of Memphis music!

It was a very nice display of the history of music in the Memphis area. The audio recording was informative and easy to listen to. It is a must do stop if you are touring Beale Street.
